Chapter Seventy-Five: Putting on a brave face

When Lin Hui turned her head and saw Duan Sisi, she was also stunned for a moment, then suddenly realized and laughed, "I knew it."

Duan Sisi felt uneasy looking at the strange smile on her face.

"Oh, it's Xiaobao's mom! What a coincidence. I won't disturb your shopping any longer; we have to go now."

Lin Hui called out to her with interest, "Is everything resolved? Why are you in such a hurry to leave? People who don't know better might think you're guilty."

Duan Sisi sneered at these words, "Xiao Bao's mother, do you think I, as the person involved, don't know whether the matter has been resolved or not? It has already been properly resolved. If you don't believe me, ask the manager."

When the manager saw Lin Hui, he recognized her as a well-known regular customer of the store. Neither of them dared to offend her, so he could only smile awkwardly and deal with her.

Lin Hui didn't ask him, but slowly said, "Manager, I listened for a while and have a different idea about this matter. I wonder if I can say it?"

Duan Sisi immediately chimed in, "Xiao Bao's mom, if you're not even sure if you can say it, then what's the point of saying it?"

Lin Hui seemed not to have heard what she said and continued, "I understand what happened. It's just that because I came and Xiao Yang served me, this Miss Duan was unhappy, so she came up with all this righteous talk and stood on the moral high ground to scold these people."

The manager was so frightened by these sharp words that he didn't dare to reply.

Duan Sisi took a step forward. "Xiao Bao's mom, what do you mean by that?"

Lin Hui continued to ignore her, "Manager, I remember there's a rule in our store that top VIP customers enjoy priority service."

As she spoke, she ostentatiously pulled a glittering gold card from her bag.

She smiled knowingly, "This card isn't something you can just throw around tens of thousands of dollars for. If it doesn't even offer this kind of priority service, what use is it to me?"

These words were meant to mock Duan Sisi for being arrogant just because she has a little money, and now she's been proven wrong.

On the other hand, the manager is asking, "Do you want to keep me, a top VIP customer, or someone who can only spend tens of thousands?"

Compared to this, the manager naturally didn't hesitate and quickly agreed: "There is such a rule, but I just haven't had a chance to tell Miss Duan yet!"

Upon hearing this, Duan Sisi's face immediately turned cold.

"What? Have we become so unsophisticated? Now we're competing to see who has more money, is that it?" She smiled sarcastically.

Lin Hui looked terrified. "Miss Duan, what are you saying? Didn't you threaten these people with the gold card first?"

She smiled and said, "I just want to let Miss Duan know what it means to be outdone by others and to be more discerning when you're out doing things and speaking. Otherwise, you'll get slapped in the face again and feel like you haven't been slapped hard enough."

After saying that, she couldn't help but laugh.

Yang Lili, who was standing next to her, couldn't help but chuckle.

A surge of anger instantly rose in Duan Sisi's head. She turned to look at the manager, who immediately looked away, avoiding her gaze.

Duan Sisi's lips trembled with anger. She nodded vigorously, "I never imagined that going out to buy perfume would stoop to such a vulgar level. Since you insist on competing, I'll play along to the end. I'm just afraid that Xiao Bao's mother won't be able to take so many slaps."

Lin Hui laughed when she heard this, and her laughter was full of confidence.

Because the store has only issued five of these top-tier VIP cards, and she happens to know all five of them.

Duan Sisi has an incredible talent for it; she can somehow produce a sixth card from nowhere.

"Then I'll wait. Please don't keep me waiting too long, Miss Duan. My time is very precious."

Duan Sisi interrupted her with a cold laugh, "Wasn't Xiaobao's mother already expelled from the design industry? Is she still so busy every day?"

Without waiting for Lin Hui's reaction, she turned around and walked out of the store.

Lin Hui gritted her teeth in hatred from behind. Birds of a feather flock together. Someone like Su Yan, who is not presentable, makes the same kind of friends.

Yang Lili fawned over her, "Ms. Lin, thank you so much today. Without you, I don't know how I would have suffered this injustice!"

"I just couldn't stand people like that, it was nothing more than a small favor."

Lin Hui stood up today not to speak up for Yang Lili, but clearly out of selfish motives—to vent her own anger.

Since they couldn't get anything out of Su Yan, they decided to take revenge on her best friend, Duan Sisi. How satisfying!

As soon as Duan Sisi stepped out the door, she dialed Su Yan's number. "Hey, darling, where are you?"

Her voice still carried a hint of resentment and anger, while Wenrou looked at her with concern.

"If it's convenient for you, come to the mall near my coffee shop right away. Oh, and remember to bring your black card."

Only after she hung up the phone did Wenrou dare to speak.

"Sister Sisi, it's all my fault for talking too much and dragging you into this too."

Duan Sisi patted her shoulder reassuringly, "It's none of your business. I've disliked Lin Hui for a long time, and I'll teach her a lesson today. Let's go inside and wait for your sister Yan."

As Duan Sisi pulled Wenrou back, she heard Yang Lili mutter softly, "They actually came back."

Duan Sisi has incredibly sharp ears and heard those words clearly.

Looking at Yang Lili's sycophantic manner, now that she had someone to rely on, she felt nothing but contempt.

She wasn't in a hurry to argue with them; she was just waiting to see how she would slap their faces in the face!

Lin Hui slowly smoothed out the wrinkles on her dress and casually asked, "Miss Duan, how much longer do you need to prepare?"

Duan Sisi: "Good things come to those who wait. Little Bao's mother isn't in a hurry to be reborn, so what's the rush?"

Lin Hui scoffed, "We'll have to wait and see what kind of shock they're going to give us."

The wait for Su Yan was not short; perhaps due to traffic congestion, ten minutes had passed and she still hadn't arrived.

Even Wenrou couldn't sit still any longer; she felt the stool was burning her bottom.

The expressions on the faces of the saleswomen in the store were even more varied.

They were initially quite looking forward to it, anticipating some kind of world war, but their patience was wearing thin and nothing seemed to be happening. They began to think that Duan Sisi was just putting on a brave face.

Yang Lili, right in front of Duan Sisi and the others, arrogantly followed a few saleswomen and whispered with a smile, "What are we waiting for? Can't you see what's going on? We'll wait until dark and no one will come!"

No sooner had she finished speaking than the door to the shop was pushed open from the outside.

Su Yan stood panting at the door, smiling at Duan Sisi, "I'm not late, am I?"

When Duan Sisi saw her, she almost jumped off the stool.
