Chapter 52 If you want to be intimate, go home first
On the way back, Su Nian couldn't suppress the uneasiness in her heart. She couldn't help but mutter, "My mom said that someone she knows is in the hospital, but she was hesitant and didn't say clearly who it was. Why do I feel like something is wrong?"
"Maybe it's someone you don't know, don't think too much about it." Si Yan advised gently.
The more Su Nian thought about it, the more anxious she became. "Do you think there's something wrong with my mom's health? She's hiding it from me because she's afraid I'll worry!"
"If that's the case, I'll take her pulse when I get a chance and I'll know." Si Yan comforted her.
"But what if...what if her problem can't be diagnosed even by taking her pulse?" Su Nian frowned even tighter.
Si Yan looked at her helplessly, then slowed down his speech and said word by word, "Student Su Nian, are you doubting my medical skills, or are you doubting my medical skills?"
"No...that's not what I meant. I'm just too worried about my mother." Su Nian was anxious and put her hand directly on Si Yan's hand on the gear, stroking it unconsciously.
"Mrs. Si, if you want to be intimate, let's go home first." Si Yan held her slender hand with his backhand, his fingertips were warm, and there was teasing in his tone.
Su Nian finally realized what she had done. Her face flushed red, and she pulled her hand back as if burned. She nervously explained, "Who wants to... be intimate?"
Si Yan's lips curled up slightly, his eyes filled with unwavering doting: "I'm just teasing you, don't worry, I'll take care of Mom's affairs!"
When Su Hong returned to the ward with the millet porridge, she saw the man named Fang Shuo about to leave.
It was unclear what the two had just said. Fang Shuo saw her come in and nodded politely: "Okay, got it. I'll be leaving now. Goodbye, Ms. Su."
"What's going on? Mr. Fang is leaving now?" Su Hong put down the porridge, feeling a little confused.
Chen Ran's pain was much less now, his complexion looked better, and he spoke more fluently: "Well, he's in trouble."
"I have something to do too, okay?" Su Hong muttered softly, without stopping her hands. She quickly propped up the table, opened the bowl of porridge, and placed the spoon.
"If you have something to do, go ahead and do it. I can handle it alone." Chen Ran seemed to have heard her words and spoke in a flat tone.
Su Hong felt a little bit uncomfortable. She opened her mouth but didn't say anything. She just asked casually, "Do you need me to help you up?"
"Yeah, okay." Chen Ran was not polite at all.
Su Hong secretly complained in her heart, this guy is really not shy, but his hand has already been extended.
Chen Ran didn't act pretentiously anymore and didn't go through the trouble of having someone feed him while his right hand was hooked to an IV. He just stopped while using her help to sit up, picked up the spoon with his left hand and started eating the porridge.
It was Su Hong, on the other hand. When she was helping him up just now, their bodies touched, and her nose felt the warm breath from his body. Her ears suddenly felt hot, and she quickly retreated to a place far away from the bed.
Chen Ran ate his porridge slowly and leisurely, then suddenly asked, "Have you eaten yet?"
"I'm not in a hurry. I'll go back and eat later." Su Hong said.
Chen Ran picked up his phone, pressed a few buttons, and casually placed it on the bedside table. He continued to drink his porridge quietly without saying anything else.
The two stopped communicating for a while, and Su Hong simply sat on the sofa by the window and started browsing her phone.
Not long after, the delivery man knocked on the door and came in, handing over a beautifully packaged lunch box.
"I ordered this especially for you, eat it quickly." Chen Ran's voice softened.
"Ah?" Su Hong was stunned. When she opened the package, her eyes fell on the four words "Zhou Ji Restaurant" on the lunch box - that was a famous high-end restaurant in Jiangcheng.
When she opened the lid again, she froze: the plump abalone lay in the thick abalone sauce, accompanied by green vegetables and crystal rice. The aroma made her stomach growl, but she felt only a sense of unease in her heart.
"This... why do you order something so good? I'll just eat something casually." Su Hong held the chopsticks, not knowing whether to move.
Chen Ran looked up at her, stirring the porridge bowl with his spoon. His tone was as calm as if he was talking about the weather. "Eat. You've been tired for a long time."
"But..." Su Hong wanted to refuse, but was interrupted by him.
"I can't let you stay here hungry." Chen Ran put the spoon into the empty bowl.
Su Hong was speechless, but she felt even more uncomfortable. She had just been complaining about his impoliteness, but now he was being so "polite" that it was unbearable.
She secretly glanced at Chen Ran. He was leaning against the headboard with his eyes closed, resting. The lines of his profile softened in the soft light of the ward.
Just as she was struggling, Chen Ran suddenly opened his eyes, his gaze fell on her, and he said with a hint of teasing: "If you don't eat now, the food will get cold."
Su Hong's face suddenly became hot, as if her thoughts were seen through. She stammered, "Then... then I won't be polite!"
Chen Ran's lips seemed to curl slightly, but he didn't say anything, which was considered as his agreement.
Su Hong then slowly picked up her chopsticks, picked up a small piece of abalone, and put it into her mouth. The soft and glutinous texture mixed with the delicious abalone juice spread on her tongue. She opened the soup bowl next to her and was surprised again - it was a bowl of sea cucumber soup.
How much money did this person make to be so arrogant?
She didn't taste much of this delicious meal and just wanted to finish it quickly.
After lunch, Chen Ran asked Su Hong to go back and rest. Su Hong asked what they were going to do for dinner. Chen Ran told her to just order takeout if no one was delivering and not to worry about it.
Su Hong hesitated for a moment and asked cautiously: "Can't your wife come to take care of it?"
These words seemed to hit something. Chen Ran was stunned for a moment, and his tone suddenly hardened, with a hint of anger: "I don't need anyone to take care of me."
Su Hong was stunned all the way back home – was Chen Ran angry with her? She hadn't said anything she shouldn't have! Should she send him dinner?
Back at the tailor shop, Su Hong took a deep breath, suppressed the questions in her mind, picked up the scissors and fabric, and began to work, trying to use work to dispel those messy thoughts.
