Chapter 20 You are the Gift

Lin Ran was amused by her: "Then what should we care about?"

Song Mai calmly said, "Although it looks good, I'd rather be a little rougher than be poorly refined, and have some money in hand."

Besides, she never thought she was good-looking.

Objectively speaking, while she's not unattractive, her appearance can only be described as simple and fresh, and she could barely be called elegant, but she lacks any sex appeal whatsoever.

It's the kind of look that looks good even when carefully dressed up, but too plain a look can make it seem a bit bland.

At four o'clock in the afternoon, Song Mai, Fang Yu, and Zheng Yao set off for the Yujing Hotel on time.

This time, Zheng Yao was unusually quiet the whole way.

There was neither any provocation nor any sarcastic remarks.

Since she didn't speak, Song Mai naturally wouldn't take the initiative to talk to her. Before getting out of the car, Fang Yu and Song Mai discussed some things about the project, and then the three of them went into the hotel.

Inside the hotel's VIP suite.

The people from Xiguo New Energy Company and Youneng had just taken their seats.

Song Mai, acting as the translator, sat next to the project manager of Xiguo New Energy Company.

The project manager was a middle-aged man with a big beard, who was very enthusiastic when he saw Song Mai.

Fang Yu and Zheng Yao sat next to the person in charge of the YouNeng project.

One night, besides communicating and cooperating with the people from YouNeng, Big Beard spent the whole time chatting with Song Mai, asking her about various local customs and traditions.

Song Mai wasn't sure if it was just her imagination, but she always felt that the bearded man's eyes were constantly glancing at her whenever he was talking to her, which made her feel very uncomfortable.

She does have a great figure, standing at 168cm tall with a slim waist and long legs. Zheng Yao can't compare to her in this respect, and she brings out this advantage even more when she wears professional attire.

Fang Yu would occasionally exchange a few words with the people from YouNeng, while Zheng Yao remained silent.

She was either listening to others or eating, making it impossible to discern her intentions.

However, Song Mai didn't care. After all, she was a translator, and all she needed to do was focus on her job. As for other unimportant things, they were none of her concern.

Midway through the meal, Zheng Yao said she needed to go to the restroom and left for a while. When she returned, she was clutching her stomach.

Fang Yu immediately asked with concern, "What's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?"

Zheng Yao blushed and whispered a few words in his ear, at which point Fang Yu immediately replied:

"Then stay a little longer, and leave when it's almost time."

Zheng Yao nodded in agreement, but there was something unusual in her eyes when she looked at Song Mai.

The dinner was more than halfway through, and all the wine bottles on the table were empty.

The bearded man was still not satisfied, and the people from Youneng, with great foresight, arranged for their men to bring up the 1976 Bordeaux red wine they had brought.

As soon as the drinks were served, the bearded man poured a glass for Song Mai first.

Song Mai waved her hands repeatedly to refuse, but the bearded man insisted that she drink a glass, saying it was a celebration for the successful completion of the project.

She looked at Fang Yu for help, and Fang Yu nodded and whispered, "It's okay to have a drink."

Song Mai then accepted the glass of wine.

After downing a glass of wine, the bearded man praised Song Mai even more.

Seeing that Zheng Yao's face was getting paler and paler, Fang Yu was worried and took her away first. On the way, he sent her a message saying that Zheng Yao was not feeling well and that he would take her home first. He also told Song Mai to go home as soon as she finished and to be careful on the road.

However, after Zheng Yao got into Fang Yu's car, her weak appearance vanished instantly.

She pulled out a tissue to wipe off the concealer covering her lipstick, then took out her lipstick to touch up her makeup, her upturned eyebrows and eyes full of smugness.

Fang Yu leaned back in the driver's seat, lit a cigarette, and raised an eyebrow at Zheng Yao as he exhaled smoke.

"Satisfied?"

Zheng Yao was touching up her makeup in front of the mirror.

"I would be satisfied if things could be accomplished."

"Tsk tsk tsk."

Fang Yu smacked his lips: "The most poisonous heart is a woman's; it really is not just a saying."

Zheng Yao gritted her teeth, her beautiful face in the makeup mirror looked somewhat distorted, and her eyes were full of malice.

"It's because she's always making things difficult for me!"

Since she married Chu Xing, then she'll let her cheat on him!

I believe that even if Chu Xing likes her a lot, he would never tolerate his woman cheating on him with another woman!

Fang Yu flicked the burnt-out part of his cigarette, and the ash fell down like stars in the darkness.

His voice was low and chilling:

"So how do you plan to thank me?"

Zheng Yao turned to look at him, "What do you want?"

The next second, Fang Yu suddenly reached out and wrapped his arms around her slender waist, pulling the woman into his embrace with a forceful pull.

What do you think I want?

A flicker of panic crossed Zheng Yao's eyes, but she subtly pulled back slightly.

"Manager, you're married now, how about we change the thank-you gift?"

Fang Yu, however, showed no intention of letting her go, and with a slight tightening of his arms, he once again held the woman in his embrace.

The other hand traces across the woman's forehead, cheek, down to her chin and neck, and then seems to continue downwards.

Zheng Yao suddenly grabbed his hand, her heart pounding.

"Manager, no..."

A smile curled at the corner of Fang Yu's lips, his eyes filled with undisguised mockery, a chilling coldness:

"It's too late. Didn't you ever think this day would come when you seduced me?"

Zheng Yao shook her head desperately: "No, I didn't."

"Oh……"

Fang Yu chuckled: "Trying to be both a prostitute and a virtuous woman? That trick might work on others, but it won't work on me."

As he spoke, he lowered his head and suddenly kissed Zheng Yao's lips.

Meanwhile, inside the private room.

With the two project leaders shaking hands, the project cooperation was considered complete.

Song Mai finally breathed a sigh of relief.

The project manager of YouNeng poured a drink for Big Beard, who in turn poured a glass for SongMai.

Song Mai repeatedly declined, saying, "I'm sorry, I really can't drink anymore."

However, the bearded man insisted: "Let's celebrate our meeting today and the success of our collaboration."

Song Mai wanted to continue refusing, but she noticed that the person in charge of YouNeng kept giving her meaningful glances.

Adhering to the principle that the client is the father, Song Mai had no choice but to finish the drink.

After chatting for a while, Song Mai began to feel that something was amiss.

My body seems to be hot, but it doesn't feel like I'm sick with a fever. Instead, it feels like a hot current is rushing around inside my body, as if it's looking for an outlet but can't find one, and it's running rampant everywhere.

She felt a tightness in her chest and couldn't help but want to take deep breaths.

Song Mai poured herself a glass of water. The heat subsided slightly for a few minutes after she drank it, but the heat returned as soon as the minutes were up. Wave after wave of heat seemed to engulf her, leaving not even her bones behind.

Something's not right, something's very wrong.

Song Mai wasn't an eighteen or nineteen-year-old girl. Although she had never eaten pork, she had read about it in novels and immediately realized something.
