Chapter 216 Humiliation, the Nobility of the Elf

Those delicate voices rose and fell, reciting in a complex and varied language that was incomprehensible to most.

This is a custom of the elves; after the harvest, they always express their gratitude to the spirits of nature.

The sacred tree seemed to hear their prayers, its branches swaying in the breeze, scattering silvery specks of light.

The enormous tree trunk, stretching for hundreds of miles, seemed to be enveloped by the Milky Way, heading towards its roots.

A group of elven guards, shrouded in silver, stood watch at the base of the sacred tree. They wore wooden armor and held silver wooden spears, their expressions solemn.

After a while, an elf gradually descended from the sky.

She wore a pure white long dress, a wreath of flowing green light made of woven grass on her head, and held a wooden scepter in her hand, her expression solemn.

She stepped steadily onto the ground, stepping on the fallen green leaves.

Upon seeing the newcomer, the guards bowed respectfully to the elf.

"High Priest, good health."

High Priestess of the Elves – Vinya Jekdra.

The family name "Czecdra" has been associated with the guardians of the sacred tree "Yad" for generations.

The high priests would constantly examine the sacred tree's body to prevent any crisis that might arise from their mother from escalating.

With a smile, Vinya nodded to the guards and greeted them one by one.

The guards felt a surge of warmth in their hearts when they saw the high priest's smile.

Despite the high priest's noble status, he treated his guards with kindness and equality.

However, in reality, it seems that Vinya never thought that way.

A smile graced her face, but the ugliness within contrasted sharply with her outward beauty.

"A bunch of fools, do they really think that just because I smile, I consider you all equals?"

'My surname is that of a noble priest, while you are nothing but a band of guards.'

'Without Her Majesty the Queen's return, I am the most noble elf among all elves.'

The clever Vinya didn't show it; she still smiled, held the scepter, and walked to the sacred tree.

She looked up and gazed at the sky; the enormous tree trunks soared into the heavens, piercing through the clouds.

“Tree of Ad, please allow me to see through you and banish all dangers from the Holy Spirit.”

As Vinya uttered her prayers, the staff slowly sank into the ground.

The scepter emitted a green starlight, stirring up green ripples that spread outwards.

Gradually, I climbed up the sacred tree, passing over its thick trunk again and again, which glowed with a soft green light.

After several ripples, the staff gradually stopped shining.

After the daily inspection, the high priest, as usual, did not sense anything unusual about the sacred tree.

Today's work is finished, I can go back and rest now.

Just as Vinya was about to leave, a guard suddenly spoke up and asked her:

"High Priest, when will our Queen return?"

Vinya turned around following the sound, her lips slightly parted, her eyes lowered as she looked at the guard.

She smiled kindly with her eyes narrowed, and a gentle aura emanated from her.

"Don't worry."

"The sacred tree will always protect us."

Though she said that, Vinya was inwardly calm:

'The Queen? She abandoned us all long ago.'

Vinya always believed that even without Kokot, the Tree of Adrien would not have watched the elves gradually go extinct.

Because the elves were born from the Tree of Adriana.

In the end, it will surely choose another elf to become queen for the sake of the propagation of the elf race.

Vinya looked forward to serving that new and unknown elven queen.

She has always believed this.

However, not every elf is as wise as her.

Therefore, she needed to constantly comfort these foolish people, so that these elves would never forget hope and look forward to each day of the future with a beautiful heart.

"The Queen's return is inevitable; we just need to wait patiently."

She clasped her hands in front of her chest, then stretched them out, as if embracing the sacred tree, her eyes filled with anticipation.

The guards looked at the high priest's sacred posture with utmost reverence.

Vinya felt a secret thrill as she basked in their admiring gazes.

Suddenly, a sensation like an earthquake spread, and the entire base of the divine tree began to shake violently.

Vinya, disregarding her image, looked around and asked with a puzzled expression:

"What happened?"

Suddenly, three illusory figures transformed into three beams of light of different colors, climbed up the divine tree, and gradually merged into it.

A storm arose at the same time, the sun gradually became more red and golden, and the grass and trees underfoot began to grow vigorously.

The elves of the Elf Forest all sensed it, stopped what they were doing, and looked toward the sacred tree.

In a daze, they seemed to see it.

Above the sky, a long, white shadow drifted among the clouds.

I saw the sun and storms sweeping across the land, and the wildly growing vegetation.

At that moment, it was as if they sensed the arrival of something truly awe-inspiring.

This made them feel completely convinced and want to face the direction of the sacred tree and kneel down to worship again.

Similarly, this emotion also reached Vinya's heart. With her extensive knowledge, she immediately sensed the source of this power.

"...Calamity?"

Suddenly, a small, clean, white hand patted Vinya's shoulder.

Vinya snapped out of her daze and looked down from the sky above the divine tree.

That was an elf.

She sat on a pure white cloud, with her back to the sacred tree.

A golden light emerged, and she seemed to be enveloped in a halo, appearing incredibly sacred.

"Hey, Vinya."

"So you were really looking forward to my return."
