Chapter 11 Something's Going Wrong

Chapter 11 Something's Going Wrong

It was Saturday, and Dan Anwen's mother called him back to Danyuan for dinner. He drove his car out of the company building.

Just now, on my way home from get off work, I inexplicably walked into the Zen-like dessert shop. Actually, I had seen the girl working there yesterday afternoon, and I thought about going in, but I just didn't take the plunge.

Gazing at the strawberry tiramisu in the passenger seat, the man smiled faintly, a barely perceptible curve appearing on his lips.

Not long after, we arrived at Danyuan. I got out of the car and casually picked up a strawberry tiramisu. As soon as I entered the door, I heard Dan's mother's voice.

"Anwen, we've been waiting for you to eat. Go wash your hands quickly," Zhou Shuxin urged her son as he entered the room.

Dan Anwen nodded slightly and handed the strawberry tiramisu in her hand to Dan Shu on the sofa.

He said calmly, "Here, for you." Then he went into the bathroom.

The girl playing on her phone on the sofa looked completely bewildered, holding something in her hand. What was going on? Was this for me?

Dan Shu blinked in alarm, glancing between Zhou Shuxin and Dan Si.

Both of them wore expressions that left us bewildered.

However, something unusual must be going on.

Even Dan Guangyuan, Dan's father, who was reading the financial newspaper, raised his head and looked at Dan Anwen as he walked away, with a strange expression on his face.

"Did Uncle take the wrong medicine?" Dan Shu's teeth chattered uncontrollably.

Dan Si nodded, agreeing wholeheartedly, and said, "I think so, otherwise why would I bring you something like this?"

Putting aside the fact that the gift was dessert, Dan Anwen is simply not the type of person who would bring small gifts.

His gentle, refined, and polite appearance contrasted sharply with the coldness in his bones; his family knew his personality all too well.

"Have you done anything to offend your uncle recently?" Dan's mother glanced at Dan Shu and asked bluntly.

Dan Shu propped her head up and racked her brains, but she couldn't come up with anything that would offend her uncle.

"Do you think there's any poison in this?" Dan Si threatened Dan Shu.

Before Dan Shu could say anything, his mother, who was protecting her son, slapped him on the head, saying, "What nonsense are you talking about? Trying to scare your cousin."

Dan Si was beaten but dared not speak out, looking at his grandmother with a pitiful expression.

As soon as Dan Anwen came out, he saw that everyone in the living room was sitting on the sofa staring at him.

Pretending not to see their questioning looks, Dan Anwen turned a corner and entered the restaurant.

Having received no answer, the group could only get up and go eat.

No one spoke at the dinner table, adhering to the rule of not speaking while eating or sleeping.

As they ate, Dan Anwen couldn't stand the occasional glances from everyone anymore. She slowly put down her chopsticks and said calmly, "What do you want to ask?"

Before Dan Shu, the person involved, could even ask a question, Dan Si preemptively asked, "Uncle, are you sick?"

The man frowned, his tone ambiguous, "What do you mean?"

"Otherwise, why would you bring Dan Shu dessert, especially strawberry flavored one? That's really illogical," Dan Si asked without any restraint.

"I just bought it randomly from the dessert shop downstairs from the office."

It's quite unbelievable that Dan Anwen used the word "whatever."

Danmu was even more direct, thinking of the dessert shop and boldly guessing, "Anwen, do you have a girl you've got your eye on?"

Dan Anwen frowned. He'd taken a liking to a young girl? Where did he get that conclusion?

Besides, if he took a fancy to a high school girl who was about the same age as Dan Si, wouldn't that make him a beast?

"No." Dan Anwen's tone was completely flat.

The mother looked regretful, with a hint of disappointment.

Just as she was about to start rambling on, the man stopped her, saying, "Mom, don't talk while eating or sleeping."

Mother Dan looked at Father Dan with a wronged expression, "Guangyuan, your son is bullying me."

Dan's father straightened his face and said to Dan Anwen, "Anwen, watch your attitude."

After saying that, he patted his wife's hand, indicating that he had stood up for her.

"Understood," Dan Anwen replied after swallowing the food in his mouth.

The two high school students at the dinner table selectively ignored the elderly couple's display of affection.

......

On Sunday evening, Li Mu returned to school early, her face flushed with shyness.

For the past few weeks, Gu Zhaodi and she have maintained a neutral relationship, treating each other like ordinary classmates, neither actively seeking out each other nor obviously avoiding each other.

This was the first time in weeks that she had reached out to him.

Li Mu asked shyly, "Gu Zhaodi, do you know our class monitor, Ji Hao?"

Gu Zhaodi felt that her intelligence was being discriminated against. How could I not know Ji Hao, the class monitor of my class?

Okay... I was proven wrong before.

However, judging from Li Mu's expression, the girl didn't say it out loud, only that she knew.

"I ran into him outside the school today, and he even greeted me first. He's so handsome!" As she spoke, Li Mu's blushing cheeks became even more pronounced.

Isn't greeting someone a normal thing? What's so exciting about this? The girl didn't quite understand.

"oh."

Seeing that the girl responded to what he said, Li Mu began to talk at length about Ji Hao, even bringing up his elementary school performances.

She only stopped when Gu Zhaodi said she was going to wash up.

That night, lying in bed, Gu Zhaodi lay with her eyes open, pondering what Li Mu had told her during the day. She vaguely sensed that Li Mu had fallen for Ji Hao.

This is all thanks to Guan Xiang's efforts in popularizing romance novels to me during this time. They are full of love stories that are addictive.

However, looking at Li Mu's current radiant appearance, she realized she was deeply in love.

The next day, perhaps because I had thought too much about Li Mu and Ji Hao the night before, I felt a little tired in the morning.

Seeing the girl yawning repeatedly, Guan Xiang leaned over and asked, "Zhao Zhao, did you go thief last night?"

The girl opened her rosy lips, yawned again, and said sleepily with tears in her eyes, "I didn't do anything to steal, I just slept late."

This answer contains no useful information and sounds like a pointless statement.

Being sleepy just means you went to bed late, right? Did you go to bed early?

Guan Xiang thought she must be confused from sleepiness.

Before the teacher arrived, Gu Zhaodi quickly lay down on the table and dozed off for a while.

I spent the entire morning in a half-asleep state during class, but fortunately it didn't attract much attention from the teachers, since not many students are awake on a Monday morning.

After lunch, Guan Xiang and I took a few laps around the playground to digest our food, planning to take a nap in the dorm later.

The lunch break at Nan'an Middle School is quite long, and students usually choose to go back to their dormitories to catch up on sleep.

Gu Zhaodi used to never go back to school; she would always sit in the classroom doing her homework. But today she was just too sleepy and was afraid it would affect her afternoon studies.

Just as I walked to the small flower bed, I heard a classmate call out to me from behind.

"Gu Zhaodi, the teacher asked me to tell you that there is a letter for you at the gatehouse."

After saying that, he glanced at Gu Zhaodi, probably not expecting that in this day and age, people still send letters.

After thanking her classmate, Gu Zhaodi and Guan Xiang went to the gatekeeper to get the letter.

After confirming my name with the security guard using my campus card, I received the letter that I didn't know where it came from.

"What kind of letter is this? The workmanship is quite exquisite." Guan Xiang looked at the envelope curiously. The seal of the envelope was embossed with gold foil and had a special pattern.

Gu Zhaodi wasn't quite sure where the letter came from, but she opened it on the spot.

"Growth Foundation?" Guan Xiang felt that these words looked familiar, as if she had heard someone mention them before.

The girl saw the contents of the letter clearly: it was from the foundation that sponsored her schooling, and the letter was written to wish her a happy National Day.

The National Day holiday was just a few days away, and because the letter was mailed from the post office in Nan'an City, I received it so quickly.

She still doesn't know who the founder of the Growth Foundation is, after all, it was this person who gave her a new life.

"Ah, I remember now, isn't this the foundation founded by Uncle Dan Si?" Guan Xiang tapped her head.

Upon hearing Guan Xiang's words, the girl grabbed her hand, her voice trembling with emotion, "Uncle Dan Si?"

Guan Xiang knew that Zhao Zhao was studying here on a scholarship, so she directly told her about Uncle Dan Si.

"Dan Si's uncle is the president of the Dan Group. I remember this foundation was established a few years ago."

Guan Xiang knew about this foundation because Dan Si had mentioned it to her before.

It turns out that Dan Si is the nephew of my benefactor. If Dan Si needs help in the future, I should repay him properly. Even if I can't repay him in person, I can still remember this kindness on Dan Si.

"Let's go back." The girl took Guan Xiang's hand and walked towards the dormitory.

As October approaches, the autumn winds have become much gentler, unlike the scorching heat of August.
