Chapter 12 You don't actually like me, do you?
The bell rang for class, and Mr. Wang, the Chinese teacher, entered the classroom on time with his lesson plan.
She was jokingly called the "Queen of Timing," because as soon as the school bell rang, her left leg would step into the classroom.
Some bored students even counted the number of times she made a scouting trip, and there were very few instances of her making a mistake throughout the semester.
Everyone says she must have chosen the wrong subject; she should be a math teacher, given how precise her calculations are.
She overheard this and said with a laugh, "How did you know I used to be a math teacher?"
Rumor has it that she was driven by love turned to hate, and in college she abandoned her beloved mathematics and threw herself into Chinese, the subject her ex-boyfriend studied, determined to crush him. The result was obvious: she won.
However, these are all just speculations, and no one knows whether they are true or false.
"Where's Dan Si?" The Chinese teacher's stern voice rang out as she frowned and looked at Dan Si's seat.
Even Gu Zhaodi, sitting in front, could feel the pressure in her eyes.
"Report." A lazy voice sounded from the doorway, and everyone's eyes turned to him.
Dan Si, holding a ball in his hands, leaned against the door frame, sweating profusely, clearly having lost track of time while playing basketball.
If Lao Wang is the "Queen of Being on Time," then Dan Si is the "King of Being Late."
Other teachers didn't care much about whether Dan Si was late or not, but for Lao Wang, who had a very strong sense of time, he was practically challenging her bottom line.
Seeing Dan Si's lazy appearance, Old Wang frowned even more, the crow's feet on his face appearing faintly, suppressing his anger, "So you still know how to come back, Dan Si?"
He said casually and lazily, "Old Wang, don't be so irritable, it's bad for your health."
Seeing the nonchalant, grinning face at the door, Old Wang was truly speechless with anger. He quickly told him to go back to his seat, not wanting to look at him again.
As he slowly returned to his seat, Guan Xiang turned to him and said, "Brother, couldn't you have cleaned up a bit before coming back?"
After saying that, he gave Dan Si a disdainful look at his entire body.
"I don't have time to wash. If it weren't for Lao Wang's class, I would have skipped it." Dan Si shrugged indifferently.
Guan Xiang pursed her lips, "You're just afraid that Lao Wang will tell your uncle, aren't you?"
Teacher Wang is a very responsible teacher. Even troublemakers like Dan Si, who don't like to study, are completely tamed by her.
The boy patted his clothes and did not deny it.
This lesson is about the essays their class wrote last time. Gu Zhaodi has a big weakness in English, but Chinese is her strong point.
Back in Lin'an City, my essays were good enough to win awards in provincial essay competitions.
The first sample essay that Lao Wang presented was a girl's composition.
He presented it to the whole class, and after reading it aloud, he also gave a scathing critique of Dansi's essay.
To put it bluntly, it's utter nonsense.
He seems to be born without the gene for writing essays. He's so-so in other subjects, but he's practically a perpetual failure in Chinese.
It is said that he never passed Chinese language class from childhood to adulthood.
Thinking of this, Gu Zhaodi seemed to have figured out a way to repay her benefactor.
Helping his nephew improve his Chinese language grades was the only thing he could do.
Dan Si wiped his nose. Why did he feel a little cold on such a hot day? He had a feeling that someone was watching him. Who was so interested in him?
As soon as get out of class ended, Gu Zhaodi took a deep breath, turned around, and stared intently at Dan Si.
Dan Si felt uneasy under her gaze. What was she planning? Why did she have this bad feeling?
"Um..." The girl hesitated, unsure how to begin.
"Just say what you have to say," Dan Si said lazily, unscrewing the bottle cap and taking a sip of water.
Gu Zhaodi steeled her resolve and decided to take the plunge. "Do you need me to teach you how to write essays?"
With a "pfft," the water that Dan Si had drunk sprayed all over Yao Xin, splattering the seat completely, leaving not a single drop.
“Brother Dan…” Yao Xin cast a resentful look at Dan Si.
However, Dan Si didn't have time to pay attention to him. She straightened up and asked again uncertainly, "You just said you were going to teach me how to write essays?"
The girl nodded sincerely.
"Why are you teaching me how to write essays?" He smiled languidly.
The girl pursed her lips and finally said, "Because you didn't write a good Chinese composition."
She didn't tell him directly that she was teaching him to repay his uncle's financial support.
Hearing this, he laughed freely and arrogantly, as if he had heard a very funny joke.
He raised an eyebrow, leaned closer to the girl, and lowered his voice to ask, "You don't actually like me, do you?"
To everyone's surprise, the girl frowned, showing no sign of blushing, and said in an extremely helpless tone, "I don't like you, Dan Si."
These two words immediately made Dan Si explode with rage, "You...you...you..."
After a long pause, he finally managed to utter, "You're taking advantage of me."
The girl spoke earnestly, as if coaxing a child, "Do you want me to teach you? It can improve your Chinese grades."
Clearly, grades were not important to Dan Si, and he decisively refused.
He didn't want to have a supervisor at the school; that would make his life impossible.
The girl glanced at Dan Si with an expression that said, "You've missed out on a lot of money," before turning away regretfully.
Since Dan Si was unwilling, she couldn't force him; she could only hope to help him in the future.
At this moment, Guan Xiang, who had just returned from the restroom, felt somewhat confused and sensed that the atmosphere between the three of them was strange.
Yao Xin looked like he wanted to laugh but didn't dare, his face expressionless and even his most normal gestures were those of an elder.
She didn't know why Zhao Zhao had this inexplicable aura.
Curiosity drove her to ask a question, but Zhao Zhao didn't reply.
Yao Xin, however, couldn't hold back her laughter, which spilled from her lips and then she couldn't stop laughing, lying on the table laughing.
Seeing him smile like that, Guan Xiang felt like her heart was being scratched by a cat, and she kept pestering Zhao Zhao to ask.
After Zhao Zhao finished explaining the whole story, two contrasting figures appeared in the class: Yao Xin and Guan Xiang.
He asked in a cold, sinister tone, "Is it funny?"
Yao Xin's smile vanished instantly. He still wanted to leave school alive and didn't want his body to be destroyed.
Guan Xiang wasn't afraid of him at all. She laughed and slammed her hand on the table, saying bluntly, "So, you, Young Master Dan, have come to this day?"
"Getting rejected by a girl, hahaha."
After saying that, he grabbed Gu Zhaodi's hand and said with a devout expression, "Zhaozhao, you will be my idol from now on."
These words left the girl both amused and exasperated.
......
The National Day holiday was fast approaching, and with the weekend, there would be a total of nine days off, giving Gu Zhaodi plenty of time to work part-time and earn money.
"Zhao Zhao, why don't you come to our party this Sunday?" Guan Xiang extended a sincere invitation, but she felt like she had forgotten something.
After saying that, fearing that Zhao Zhao might refuse due to financial pressure, she quickly added, "Let's have barbecue at Dan Si's house."
The girl thought for a moment, then pursed her lips and said, "Go to Dan Si's house? Let's forget about it."
It wouldn't be appropriate for Dan Si to go to someone's house without an invitation.
Hearing Zhao Zhao's words, Guan Xiang realized that she had forgotten to say something. "Actually, it wasn't me who invited you, but Dan Si. This happened last time, so he was too embarrassed to ask."
The girl laughed out loud when she thought of Dan Si's embarrassed face last time.
Seeing her smile, Guan Xiang felt hopeful and used her charm to persuade her, "If you like it, just go! It'll be so much fun!"
He shook the girl's arm as he spoke, blinking his eyes.
Gu Zhaodi thought for a moment and realized that she had never gone out with them before. The dessert shop wasn't open every day during the National Day holiday, so it would be good to go and get together with them.
"Okay, I'll go then."
"Then I'll write down your address for you later." Guan Xiang remembered that she didn't have a cell phone, so she planned to write it down on a piece of paper for her later.
"Okay." Gu Zhaodi felt that she should put buying a cell phone on her agenda, otherwise communication would be too inconvenient.
