Chapter 181 Stinky Tofu
"Uncle Dan, you've never eaten stinky tofu before?" Gu Ji walked up to the man in a few quick steps.
Dan Anwen tilted his head and smiled, "I've never eaten it before."
He has never been particular about food since childhood, and had never been to a night market before. He only came many times with the girl after he met her, so naturally he had never eaten stinky tofu.
Moreover, its taste is really hard to describe, so he wouldn't try it easily.
Gu Ji gave an "oh," her bright eyes clearly harboring a wicked plan.
When it was their turn, Gu Ji said directly, "Boss, one serving of stinky tofu, no chili."
Dan An raised an eyebrow upon hearing this. It's rare to see a child who can't live without spicy food, and it's uncommon for them to eat snacks without chili peppers.
I mentally calculated the days of her period, and it was still early!
While the man was pondering, the steaming hot stinky tofu was in the girl's hands.
Gu Ji couldn't wait to stuff a piece into his mouth. Sure enough, it was incredibly delicious. The tofu, soaked in the broth, was absolutely amazing. He unconsciously closed his eyes.
Looking at Gu Ji's contented expression, Dan Anwen smiled indulgently. This little girl really has low desires; a little stinky tofu is enough to satisfy her.
While Gu Ji was eating stinky tofu, the man kept her close by to protect her from being bumped by the crowd.
While eating, Gu Ji secretly glanced at the man's face. Good, his expression gradually calmed down, clearly he had gotten used to the smell of stinky tofu.
"Uncle Dan, would you like to try a piece too?" Gu Ji blinked her bright eyes and poked a piece of stinky tofu at the man's mouth.
Dan Anwen subconsciously took a step back, looking helplessly at the playful Gu Ji, "You eat it yourself, I'm afraid I can't stand the taste."
Gu Ji sighed with feigned regret, pouting as he said, "It's such a waste that you won't even try this delicacy."
Seeing the child's face, which looked like she had missed out on billions, Dan Anwen's gaze shifted to the stinky tofu in her hand. She hesitated for a moment, trying to mentally prepare herself.
Before he could fully process what he was thinking, he heard the girl say softly, "Then there probably won't be a goodnight kiss tonight. After all, my mouth still smells after eating stinky tofu."
Dan Anwen wasn't fooled and said calmly, "It's okay, I'll kiss you after you finish brushing your teeth."
Seeing that he couldn't fool him, Gu Ji asked somewhat frustratedly, "You really won't eat it?"
Seeing the regretful and aggrieved expression on her face, Dan Anwen's heart clenched slightly. He couldn't bear to see her wronged, even if he had caused her to suffer.
"Then I'll try it." Dan Anwen lowered his head and gestured for the girl to feed him.
Gu Ji immediately fed the stinky tofu into the man's mouth, looking at him with excitement.
She wanted to see him prove his words wrong.
Dan Anwen chewed the tofu in his mouth with slight hesitation. Unlike its own pungent smell, the tofu skin was fried until crispy, while the inside was soft and tender, and the flavor of the soup burst on his taste buds.
It didn't taste as bad as I had imagined, and the stench had even lessened considerably.
Seeing the man's furrowed brows gradually relax, Gu Ji knew that he must have accepted the stinky tofu, and said enticingly, "Uncle Dan, wouldn't you like to try another piece?"
Upon hearing this, Dan An chuckled softly, lowered his head to the girl's ear, and said in a deep, magnetic voice, "Now we don't have to worry about the goodnight kiss tonight."
Seeing that the man was preoccupied with this matter, Gu Ji glared at him coquettishly, her gaze, devoid of any intimidation, seemed to be a pout. The man lowered his head and lightly touched her eyes.
"Uncle Dan, are you still going to eat?" Gu Ji puffed out her cheeks slightly annoyed, and a few wisps of heat spread from her ears. She was still a little shy in public.
"Eat." Dan Anwen smiled, a cryptic smile playing on his lips, leaving it unclear what he meant by "eat."
Gu Ji and Dan Anwen strolled down the snack street, the man carrying a full hand of all sorts of food.
After Gu Ji had finished shopping, the two of them moved on to the arcade.
"What do you want to play?" Dan Anwen exchanged a basket of game tokens.
Gu Ji's eyes lit up as he looked at the basket full of game coins. He reached into the basket and grabbed a handful, the coins making a crisp sound.
"I want to practice shooting hoops," Gu Ji said, pointing to the fixed shooting spot not far away.
"Okay." Dan Anwen led Gu Ji toward the basketball shooting machine.
Gu Ji took a deep breath, holding a basketball in his small hands, eager to try it out.
After aiming at the basket several times, I confidently took the shot.
As a result, he didn't use enough force, and the basketball fell halfway down without even touching the edge of the rim.
"Try again." Dan Anwen handed her another basketball, her eyes filled with encouragement.
Gu Ji hummed in agreement, staring more intently at the basket, silently counting one, two, three in her mind, and accurately head-throwing the ball out. Just when she thought it would go in smoothly, the basketball touched the panel and bounced back instantly.
For the rest of the game, she didn't make a single shot. Gu Ji seriously suspected that this game was her nemesis; it was just too illogical.
The ball either grazed the edge or I used too much force. The only time I succeeded was when it spun around the basketball hoop a few times, but it still fell off.
"Uncle Dan bullied me." Gu Jiwei tilted her head back, her big, watery eyes full of accusation.
Dan Anwen lowered his eyes, a slight smile playing on his lips. He ruffled her hair, his voice indulgent, "Then how about I avenge you?"
Gu Ji chuckled and immediately handed the ball to the man, watching him shoot quietly.
On a basketball, a man's large, well-defined hands are particularly alluring; the knuckles seem meticulously sculpted, with a rare and perfectly proportioned symmetry.
The man casually glanced at the basket, then effortlessly tossed the basketball into the air, where it arced perfectly before disappearing into the hoop in the blink of an eye.
"Uncle Dan, you're amazing." Gu Ji gave the man a thumbs up, her starry eyes filled with admiration.
Dan Anwen turned his head to look at her, a feeling of joy rising in his heart; the child's affection for him made him happy.
"I'll guide you through one try."
As he spoke, the man pulled the girl into his arms and held her small hand, controlling the basketball.
The man bent down slightly to adjust his posture, his long, slender hands gently caressing the girl's delicate little hands.
"Are you ready?" Dan Anwen whispered in her ear.
Gu Ji took a deep breath, nodded solemnly, and kept his eyes fixed on the basketball hoop.
Upon hearing this, Dan An chuckled softly, his voice deep and resonant, "Don't be nervous, believe me, I will definitely get in."
The next second, the man controlled his strength and threw the basketball. Before the girl could even fully react, the basketball had already gone into the basket.
"It's in! It's in!" Gu Ji exclaimed excitedly, jumping up and down as he watched the basketball go into the basket.
Dan Anwen touched her face and smiled, "I said I would go in. Now you can play by yourself."
"good."
Gu Ji took a few more shots, and whether it was because the man brought her good luck or not, she managed to score three out of five.
After they had had their fill of playing, they went to try their luck at the claw machine.
