Chapter 21 The Team Reshuffle

Chapter 21 The Team Reshuffle

Guan Xiang leaned close to the girl's ear mysteriously and whispered, "When I was in the third year of junior high, I saw Ji Hao abusing a kitten by the river."

After speaking, Guan Xiang stepped back slightly, and sure enough, Zhao Zhao's face was full of shock, her pupils dilated, and the emotions in her eyes were hard to hide.

"Do you believe what I'm saying?" Guan Xiang asked cautiously, staring intently at the girl.

Gu Zhaodi found it unbelievable. She felt that Ji Hao's appearance and his heart were not the same, but she did not expect that Ji Hao was ruthless and would even abuse small animals.

After a while, the girl regained her usual calm expression, but her tone was somewhat indignant, "Why don't I believe what you say? You wouldn't lie to me."

Upon hearing this, Guan Xiang felt that she had made a worthwhile friend.

She had actually told her junior high school friend about this before, but her friend didn't believe that the gentle school heartthrob was a vicious and violent person. People often only believe what they see with their own eyes.

In the end, she and Dan Si, who witnessed the incident, buried it in their hearts because they knew that without evidence, no one would believe something that sounded so absurd.

The two of them watched helplessly as Ji Hao strangled a stray cat and threw it into the river. Being some distance away, they had no chance to save the cat.

Such a vibrant life vanished from this world. By the time the two ran over, Ji Hao had already left the spot, and the cat's body had completely sunk to the bottom of the river.

Even the splashes of water disappeared, as if this poor, weak cat had never existed in the world.

"Thank you for believing me. I have no evidence to prove what he did, but I still remember the precious lives he took." Guan Xiang's voice was muffled, her shoulders slumped, as she held the girl's hand.

Although the girl didn't know how cruel the scenes Guan Xiang had witnessed were, she knew that this sharp-tongued but kind-hearted girl must have been very heartbroken at the time.

He hugged Guan Xiang tightly, patted her back, and comforted her silently.

The girl's impression of Ji Hao has plummeted to its lowest point; she hates him even more than Deng Xixue, who insulted her.

Ji Hao, back in his seat, lowered his head, his face gloomy, and the resentment in his eyes was impossible to hide. He pretended to be engrossed in his homework.

Deng Xixue walked over with the group list in her hand and complained to Ji Hao, "Why weren't you assigned to my group? This teacher is so annoying."

Seeing that Ji Hao was looking down and not knowing what he was doing, she reached out and nudged him.

Caught off guard, Ji Hao looked up, and Deng Xixue clearly saw the expression in his eyes.

The resentful look in his eyes startled Deng Xixue. She had never seen Ji Hao show such an expression before. He was always gentle and mild-mannered, and even when he was giving her the cold shoulder, he would never show such a resentful and indignant expression.

Upon recognizing the person who pushed him, Ji Hao quickly composed himself and hid his emotions deep inside.

Then, resuming her gentle and harmless demeanor, she asked in a soft and innocent tone, "What do you want from me?"

Deng Xixue blinked and came to her senses. "I meant, do you want to join my group? I'll go talk to the teacher about changing group members."

Ji Hao lowered his head and thought for a moment, then said gently, "No need, the teacher won't agree, and besides, I don't want to trouble you."

Deng Xixue hadn't fully recovered from his expression just now, and left after giving a blank "oh".

As soon as they got back to their seats, Lin Wen leaned over and asked, "So? Did Ji Hao agree?"

Deng Xixue coldly replied, "No." Her mind was filled with the look Ji Hao had given her, as if he were her enemy.

Lin Wen felt that Deng Xixue's attitude was strange, but she didn't notice anything wrong, so she didn't pay much attention to it.

"If Ji Hao were to join Gu Zhaodi's group, who knows what kind of feelings might develop between them."

Deng Xixue thought about it and agreed. She still didn't quite believe Ji Hao's claim that he didn't like Gu Zhaodi. It would be troublesome if the two of them developed feelings for each other.

After glancing at Lin Wen, Deng Xixue asked, "Then what's your solution? Ji Hao doesn't want me to bother the teacher."

Lin Wen narrowed her eyes, thought for a moment, and said, "Let's go find Yao Xin. He probably really wants to switch to Dan Si's group, since the two of them are inseparable."

Deng Xixue rolled her eyes and thought it made a lot of sense; Yao Xin would definitely be willing to make the change.

Then she thought of Li Mu, and the thought that she was also in her group made her impatient. "I want to switch Li Mu out too."

"I'm afraid that won't work. Even one teacher might not agree, let alone two," Lin Wen said, her brow furrowed, seemingly considering Deng Xixue's feelings.

Lin Wen also had her own ideas. Keeping Li Mu around would still be useful. She could create some conflict between them and make Ji Hao hate Deng Xixue even more.

"Alright, I'll go find Yao Xin now."

Teachers' Office

"Report." Yao Xin and Deng Xixue stood at the office door and knocked.

Old Lin glanced at the door and knew that Yao Xin must have come to him about changing teams. But what was Deng Xixue doing following him?

"Xixue, what do you want with me?" As soon as he entered, Old Lin asked Deng Xixue what her purpose was, ignoring Yao Xin completely.

Deng Xixue hesitated for a moment, then looked at Yao Xin. Her hesitant look made Lao Lin's heart skip a beat. Why was she looking at Yao Xin?

Could these two be... dating?

Old Lin's strange gaze puzzled the two people present. Why was he looking at them so ambiguously?

Receiving Deng Xixue's look that told her to speak first, Yao Xin felt annoyed. If it weren't for the tempting conditions she offered, she wouldn't have come. Wasn't she just asking for trouble?

What's more, Old Lin hasn't given me a single glance since I walked in.

Yao Xin clicked his tongue, bent one leg slightly, and leaned against the desk. Helplessly, he spoke first: "Old Lin, I'm here to ask you to switch groups."

Hearing Yao Xin's words, Lao Lin secretly breathed a sigh of relief, almost choking on his own breath.

Thank goodness, it's not that these two people are having an affair.

Even in a high school like Nan'an Middle School, where top students abound, teachers are still afraid that students will fall in love too early, which would affect their academic performance.

"Then who is Xixue?" Knowing Yao Xin's purpose, Old Lin did not explicitly state his attitude.

"I'm also here about changing groups, but it's not that I want to change, it's that our class monitor, Ji Hao, wants to switch to our group." Deng Xixue decided to act first and ask questions later. As the group leader, it was reasonable for her to come and discuss changing group members.

Old Lin looked at the two of them with a slightly somber expression. "The study group was carefully arranged by me, and the members cannot be changed arbitrarily without special circumstances."

Even knowing there was little hope, Yao Xin still wanted to give it a shot, just in case.

Yao Xin smiled slightly and said in a roguish tone, "Old Lin, shouldn't there be harmony among study group members? You separated me and Dan Ge just because you were afraid I would hang out with Dan Ge, right?"

As she spoke, Yao Xin, perhaps feeling numb from standing, shifted to the other foot and continued, "Then I promise you I will study hard and not cause trouble."

In my heart, I was thinking that I could ensure my studies, but the quality of those studies was another matter.

Old Lin flatly refused. Didn't she know the character of Dan Si and Yao Xin?

The straightforward rejection left both of them feeling somewhat frustrated. Why was it so difficult?

Seeing that Lao Lin wouldn't budge, Yao Xin had no choice but to use his trump card.

I'm sorry, Dan Ge, but I have to sacrifice your reputation for a bit.

"Dan Ge and Ji Hao have never had a good relationship, Lao Lin, you know that."

Yao Xin didn't say anything more, leaving the rest to Lao Lin's imagination.

Upon hearing this, Old Lin fell into deep thought. She had heard rumors about the mutual dislike between Ji Hao and Dan Si, given their excellent backgrounds and circumstances.

I remember it was in the third year of junior high school when Dan Si inexplicably picked a fight with Ji Hao, beat him up until he was bruised and swollen, and he had to stay at home to recuperate for several weeks before returning to school.

Thinking about this, Lao Lin realized he hadn't considered this when he arranged the groups, and he couldn't help but feel annoyed.

Fearing that Lao Lin hadn't thought things through thoroughly enough, Yao Xin added quietly, "Brother Dan still dislikes Ji Hao, aren't you afraid, teacher...?"

Old Lin took a deep breath. "Alright, Xixue, go and call Ji Hao over. If he's willing to switch, then let's switch."

Deng Xixue's eyes lit up, and she turned around to go back to the classroom to find Ji Hao.

"How could you arbitrarily decide to change my group?" Ji Hao's face darkened, his brows furrowed, and he looked at Deng Xixue with disapproval.

Deng Xixue looked aggrieved, but her tone was self-righteous: "How am I making decisions on my own? Didn't you also want to change it? So I went to find Yao Xin."

Ji Hao finally seemed to realize something, his brows relaxed slightly, and his tone softened, "Alright, since we've changed it, let's leave it at that."

The two went into the office together, and after explaining things to Lao Lin, the matter of switching teams was settled.
