Chapter 26 I Like It Now
After finally managing to calm herself down and preparing to eat, a troubled expression appeared on her face when she saw the steamed crab on her plate, and several deep lines appeared on her smooth forehead.
Dan Anwen kept a close eye on the girl's expression, and couldn't help but wonder as she went from being evasive to looking troubled.
My gaze followed her eyes to the plate in front of her—crab?
The man pondered for a moment, then reached out his long, slender, fair hand to pick up a crab, and slowly began to disassemble it using his tools.
When Gu Zhaodi saw the man picking up the crab, she was overjoyed. Finally, someone was going to eat it. She quickly followed the crab to the man's skillful disassembly.
The man elegantly used scissors to cut off both ends of the joints, gently pushed out the crab meat with a long-handled fork, and then his fair fingers took a long-handled axe. With a slight sound, the crab shell was perfectly pried open.
Remove the inedible parts, use a small silver spoon to scoop out the golden crab roe, then use scissors to cut open the crab's hard body, and use a small spatula to easily remove the crab meat intact.
The man slowly and methodically demonstrated each step of dissecting the crab, as if to help the girl digest the knowledge.
The pure white crab meat and the man's fair and well-defined palms complemented each other, creating a particularly soft effect under the illumination of the ceiling lights.
"Uncle, don't you dislike eating crabs?"
A casual question suddenly rang out, drawing everyone's attention to the man at the table.
Dan Anwen calmly wiped her slender fingers and said lightly, "I like it now."
Dan Si awkwardly shut his mouth. He always felt that his uncle's tone was strange, ambiguous, and a little creepy.
Dan's mother looked at Dan Anwen with suspicion. She knew her son quite well; he wasn't someone who easily changed his habits.
He has never liked eating crabs since he was a child. He finds dismantling crabs too troublesome and doesn't like others to dismantle them for him, so he simply doesn't eat them. What's wrong with him today?
Suddenly, Dan's mother, with her wild imagination running wild, remembered the dessert Dan Anwen had brought back last time. Could it be that he has a girlfriend? So she's practicing how to dismantle crabs here so she can feed them to her girlfriend later?
Thinking of this, Dan's mother seemed to see Dan Anwen getting married and having children in the future.
In this family, what worries Dan's mother the most are Dan Si's studies and Dan Anwen's marriage.
The eldest son and his wife were childhood sweethearts, so she didn't need to worry about their marriage at all. But the youngest son, despite his young age, had a cold and indifferent attitude.
She used to worry that he would be a loner, but she never expected that he didn't care about that at all. As for marriage, he was already twenty-five years old and had never had a girlfriend.
Dan Anwen was unaware of his mother's emotions. He was watching the well-behaved girl across from him dismantle the huge crab on her plate. The crab was half a head larger than her palm in her pink hands, making her fair little hands appear even smaller.
The girl finally disassembled the crab according to the method she remembered. Looking at the bright yellow color in the white porcelain plate, her mood improved, and she felt a great sense of accomplishment.
Looking up with a smile in her eyes, she found the man quietly staring at her. The girl's already slightly flushed cheeks instantly turned a rosy and translucent color, which spread all the way to her ears and disappeared into the hair behind her ears.
She had overheard Dan Si's words, but she hadn't thought much of it, simply assuming that Uncle Dan just wanted to eat crabs. However, now that the man was staring at her without moving, she was starting to doubt her assumptions.
Fortunately, the man quickly looked away, and the girl's anxiety subsided.
The meal ended quickly as everyone cleaned up. It seems that studying really takes a toll on brain cells, and we need to replenish them properly.
After the meal, Mrs. Dan asked the maid to serve some tea to aid digestion, and everyone sat around the sofa drinking tea and chatting.
After chatting for a while, Dan's mother went out for a walk. Gu Zhaodi looked at the clock in the living room and realized that it was already 6:30.
Gu Zhaodi prepared to get up and say goodbye, "Xiangxiang, I need to go back now."
Guan Xiang saw that it was almost time, so she didn't try to coax the girl to stay a little longer.
Together with Yao Xin, the three of them got up, went out, and got into the car to go home.
Guan Xiang safely escorted Gu Zhaodi to the school gate before taking a car home.
On the other side, Dan Anwen, who had gone upstairs to handle some business, came downstairs and found that only Dan Si was sitting on the carpet watching TV in the living room.
He had been studying all afternoon and his brain was starting to feel numb, so he decided to find an interesting TV program to clear his head.
"Have they all gone back?" A deep voice came from behind Dan Si, startling him.
Dan Si stared blankly at the TV, answering absentmindedly, "Zhao Zhao is going back, and Guan Xiang and the others are going back with her."
Dan Anwen gave a seemingly casual "oh" and shuffled back upstairs in her slippers.
Dan Si was completely baffled. What was his uncle doing downstairs? And why did he go back upstairs without doing anything?
......
On Monday morning, everyone gradually returned to school and had a heated discussion about the argument that happened in Deng Xixue's group last week.
Gu Zhaodi, who was sitting in her seat reviewing her lessons, listened to the people around her, piecing together the whole story.
"I heard that Deng Xixue and her friends were at a coffee shop outside the school that day," the girl in front of her whispered. "While they were studying, Deng Xixue suddenly started fighting with Li Mu for no apparent reason."
Another classmate quickly chimed in, "I just found out that Li Mu was flirting with Ji Hao, which is why Deng Xixue hit her."
How did Li Mu seduce Ji Hao?
"It seems that Li Mu kept asking Ji Hao questions, and the two of them were very close together. Deng Xixue saw this and was unhappy."
"That's normal. Who wouldn't like a gentle and considerate school heartthrob like Ji Hao? He's handsome and rich too."
"If you ask me, Li Mu's conditions are just wishful thinking, like a toad trying to eat swan meat," a girl said disdainfully.
Several other girls chimed in, "Who says otherwise? Not everyone has the means to be with Ji Hao."
A group of people were having a heated discussion when the person involved walked in.
Deng Xixue and Lin Wen entered the classroom with an arrogant expression. Li Mu followed closely behind, quickly returning to his seat without saying a word.
Due to the angle, Gu Zhaodi couldn't see Li Mu's expression, but she could clearly see the scratches on her face from fingernails.
These must be scars left from when the two of them fought.
Perhaps sensing the girl's gaze, Li Mu slightly turned her head, her bloodshot eyes glaring fiercely at the girl. The bruises under her eyes were clearly visible, and with her gaze, she looked exactly like a female ghost.
Gu Zhaodi found her utterly baffling; what was the point of glaring at her?
The girl looked away and ignored her, continuing to study her lessons.
After the two women involved entered, the discussion in the class gradually subsided, indicating that almost half of the class had been discussing the matter between the two women.
The girls who had been gathered in front had dispersed, and Guan Xiang returned from another discussion area, excitedly sharing with Gu Zhaodi what she had just heard.
"Zhao Zhao, let me tell you, Ji Hao is such a jerk. Two people got into a fight over him, and he ended up comforting both of them, adhering to the principle of not leaving anyone behind. Tsk tsk." Guan Xiang's disdainful gaze remained fixed on Ji Hao's empty seat.
"It can be like this?" The girl was quite naive about this kind of question, and had no idea that a central air conditioning system could be like this.
"Ji Hao first separated Deng Xixue and Li Mu, and then gently comforted Deng Xixue. Later that evening, he contacted Li Mu and said that he felt very sorry about what happened during the day, because it was his fault that caused the two of them to fight."
As she spoke, Guan Xiang lowered her voice and continued, "As a result, Deng Xixue found out that Ji Hao was comforting Li Mu, and the two of them had an argument. Somehow, Ji Hao's father found out, and now Ji Hao is being punished by being made to stay at home and reflect on his actions."
After saying that, Guan Xiang sighed and said, "The wicked will be punished."
Gu Zhaodi glanced at the time; class was about to start, no wonder Ji Hao hadn't arrived yet.
The conflict between Deng Xixue and her group ended with Li Mu being transferred out of the group. It's unclear whether Deng Xixue brought it up or whether Li Mu, fearing retaliation from Deng Xixue, went to the teacher to ask.
