Chapter 5 Are you really not going to sell?
Hua Cheng wanted to ask Yun Jin why she lied, but Yun Jin went to sleep as soon as she finished taking a shower, giving him no chance to speak.
He had no choice but to give up for the time being. When he woke up the next morning, he saw her standing in the bathroom brushing her teeth in tank tops and shorts, and he felt there was no need to ask anymore.
A little white lie is harmless and won't affect their marriage, so why insist on finding out the details?
While Yun Jin was washing up, Hua Cheng turned and went to the dressing room.
When Yun Jin came to the dressing room to change her clothes, she saw him sitting on the floor, taking out several pairs of socks from a brand-new shopping bag.
"When did you buy it?" she asked.
“Yesterday afternoon,” Hua Cheng cut off the price tag, looked up at her, and said, “Come here.”
Yun Jin changed into a light shirt and casual pants, walked up to him, lifted one foot, and casually stepped on his knee.
Hua Cheng reached out and took the socks, rubbing them with his thumb as usual, before putting them on her.
“Perfect,” he said.
Yun Jin glanced at him: "Socks are something that's hard to find that don't fit perfectly, right?"
“What if they don’t fit? You should try them on to be sure.” When they were poor, Yun Jin often wore ill-fitting socks. By the end of the day, they would either slip off or her feet would be chafed red. After Hua Cheng noticed this, he would always make sure she tried on the socks after buying them. If they didn’t fit, he would throw them away. “The new ones need to be washed first. I’ll get you a different pair.”
Yun Jin didn't mind. After he put on his socks, she handed him her other foot.
Hua Cheng resignedly served his wife, while Yun Jin looked at the small whorl on his head and gradually fell into deep thought.
Hua Cheng was away on a business trip during that time, and she could go back to 12 years ago at any time.
Now that he has returned from his business trip, and they live, eat, and work at the same company, it is difficult for her to secretly visit Hua Yu again. If she is not careful, she risks being discovered, just like yesterday.
We have to think of a way.
Yun Jin pondered for a moment, then took out her phone.
"You're dressed." Hua Cheng patted her calf.
After sending the message, Yun Jin looked down at the socks on her feet.
Breakfast was scallion pancakes that Huacheng brought back last night. After they finished eating, they went out and parted ways as soon as they arrived at the company park.
The shareholders' meeting is just over ten days away, and everyone seems very busy.
Yun Jin started working as soon as she entered the office, and it wasn't until her assistant brought her a lunchbox that she realized it was already 3 p.m.
"Have you heard anything from the lab I asked you to find?" Yun Jin asked.
The assistant hurriedly said, "We've found the biotechnology company that the lab belongs to, and we're currently negotiating with their CEO. Once we've reached an agreement, we can arrange for you to meet with the lab director."
"The sooner the better, and we can increase the budget if necessary," Yun Jin said, turning on her phone.
Hua Cheng sent a message half an hour ago: I might be going home a little late tonight.
Yun Jin replied with her eyes downcast: What time?
Hua Cheng: Not sure, before 10 o'clock?
Yun Jin: You can come back a little later.
Hua Cheng: Are you angry?
Yun Jin didn't reply to him.
After staring blankly at the computer for a few seconds, she called Feng Wan.
The phone rang only once before being answered, and Feng Wan's reserved voice came through the line: "President Yun..."
"Is he in his office?" Yun Jin asked. "I have some documents here for your CEO, could you come and get them?"
"I'm not feeling well, so I went to the hospital," Feng Wan asked gently. "Is the information urgent? Can I go back now?"
Yun Jin declined, saying, "No need, I'll have Xiao Zhou deliver it."
"Okay, thank you for your help, Mr. Yun and Assistant Zhou," Feng Wan said respectfully.
After hanging up the phone, Feng Wan gripped her phone tighter before looking up at the two men opposite her hospital bed.
After a brief silence, Feng He asked, "Why did your stomach suddenly hurt?"
"I ate too much last night and have a little indigestion, but it's nothing serious," Feng Wan replied.
Feng He frowned: "You didn't eat much yesterday, so why are you having indigestion?"
Feng Wan fell silent.
Upon seeing this, Feng He immediately looked at Hua Cheng.
Hua Cheng smiled wryly: "After she got home that night, she ate scallion pancakes again."
Feng He, who was over fifty years old, opened his mouth, but remained silent.
If Hua Cheng hadn't been there, he would have directly asked Feng Wan if she had lost her mind while pregnant, resorting to such a way to be jealous.
That's so stupid.
The air in the ward was a bit heavy. Hua Cheng broke the silence in time: "Fortunately, it's nothing serious. The doctor said that a few days of bed rest will be fine."
“We can’t be careless. You should go to the hospital for treatment soon.” Feng He glanced at Feng Wan. “I’ve already paid for the house you wanted. Someone will come to sign the agreement with you this afternoon.”
"Remember to bring the gift contract," Feng Wan calmly reminded her.
Feng He was speechless at his daughter's greed; he reluctantly agreed and left.
Click.
The door closed, and the ward fell silent.
Hua Cheng turned to pour water, and the hot water made a dull sound as it fell into the cup.
Amidst the suppressed sound of water, Feng Wan apologized: "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to."
“I know, but there’s a time and place for jealousy,” Hua Cheng said as he poured water and walked back to the bedside. His lips were still upturned, but his eyes were icy cold as he looked at her, as if he had seen right through her. “Take better care of the child.”
Feng Wan silently touched her lower abdomen and nodded.
Hua Cheng smiled and handed her the hot water.
Feng He cherished the child in Feng Wan's womb. Even with the shareholders' meeting approaching, he still frequently visited the hospital, sometimes even staying overnight there.
Hua Cheng also went there frequently, but he was too busy during the day, so he could only go after get off work in the evening, which meant that he got home later and later each day.
Feng He felt this was inappropriate and told him not to come to the hospital anymore, but Hua Cheng wouldn't listen and continued to report on time, so he could only let him be.
He returned home late at night, and Yun Jin didn't arrive much earlier either. Every night, she would go to Hua Yu's place to check in and then come back before he got home.
She timed it so precisely that Hua Cheng never noticed.
A week passed just like that, and it was another night when I was home alone.
Yun Jin gripped the crown and turned it counterclockwise once. While waiting to travel through time, she suddenly didn't want to rush back every morning like before.
She thought for a few seconds and then opened her phone, which showed two unread messages.
"Sister, come out and play! I miss you so much!"
"Sister, it looks like it's going to rain tomorrow, remember to bring an umbrella."
Yun Jin replied to one of the messages and then tossed her phone back onto the bed.
A few seconds later, the room was empty.
The Royal Bar opens at 7 p.m. and closes at 4 a.m. the next day. Yun Jin slept there until 4 a.m. and didn't get up until 5 a.m. when she returned to her home in 2025.
Hua Cheng wasn't home; the neatly made bed proved he hadn't returned all night.
Yun Jin rarely gets a full night's sleep, and she felt incredibly energetic. So she changed into some workout clothes and was about to go for a run when Hua Cheng, who hadn't come home all night, walked in.
The two met face to face, and Hua Cheng asked in surprise, "Up so early?"
"Aren't you the same?" Yun Jin retorted.
Hua Cheng pinched his brow: "I didn't sleep all night."
Last night, Feng He's current wife, Zheng Feifei, suddenly found out about his purchase of a house for Feng Wan and caused a huge scene at home. Feng He then came to the hospital and spent the whole night complaining to her.
Seeing his tired appearance, Yun Jin calmly said, "I'm going to the company now. Are you going to catch up on sleep at home?"
Hua Cheng stretched, his sleeves still smelling a bit of hospital disinfectant: "No, I'll take a shower and change my clothes, then I'll go with you."
Yun Jin nodded and stopped to wait for him.
Hua Cheng let out a soft laugh and was about to kiss her.
Yun Jin pressed a finger against his chest: "Go take a shower."
"You despise me." Hua Cheng was greatly shocked, completely unlike a mature and steady capitalist.
Yun Jin remained unmoved and gestured with her eyes for him to get lost.
Hua Cheng immediately rolled into the bathroom, opened the door, and chatted with Yun Jin while shaving.
The razor was making a buzzing sound, and Yun Jin couldn't hear Hua Cheng's voice very clearly, so she simply walked over.
In the bathroom, Hua Cheng had already shaved and was unbuttoning his shirt.
One by one, the white jade buttons were unbuttoned, and the beautiful, firm contours of his muscles gradually appeared in the mirror, easily catching Yun Jin's eye.
Putting aside his current identity, status, and wealth, he remains very charming and worthy of men and women to pursue him relentlessly.
"Is it pretty?" Hua Cheng asked with amusement.
Yun Jin glanced at him in the mirror and saw a red stain on his shirt collar.
It's a lipstick mark, the kind you can see at a glance.
There are more and more fancy tricks being used.
Hua Cheng noticed her gaze, glanced down at her, and then smiled at her.
Yun Jin punched him in the abs, and Hua Cheng doubled over in pain.
Yun Jin waved her hand and announced, "Starting today, you're going to sleep at the company."
After saying that, he took the only umbrella in the house and left.
On her way to the company alone, her phone remained silent until she entered the office, at which point it started ringing.
Hua Cheng sent dozens of kneeling and begging emojis until Yun Jin blocked him, which finally stopped him.
When Hua Cheng saw the red exclamation mark, he didn't dare to bother her anymore. When he got off work in the evening, he asked Wu En to go downstairs to buy him a set of toiletries.
"Aren't you going home?" Wu En asked, puzzled.
Hua Cheng sighed, "President Yun is angry and won't let me go back."
Wu En let out a soft "Ah," unsure of what to say next.
Before becoming the company secretary for Huacheng, he was Yun Jin's assistant and knew Yun Jin's decisive personality quite well.
She said she wouldn't let us go back, and she really meant it; no amount of persuasion could change that.
"What are you standing there for? Hurry up and go!" Hua Cheng urged.
Wu En readily agreed.
After Wu En left, Hua Cheng walked to the French windows.
From the eleventh floor, one could clearly see several main roads in the park. He stared at one of them for a moment and sure enough, he saw Yun Jin's car appear.
Hua Cheng was kicked out of the house, and Yun Jin no longer needed to check his return time every day. Every night, she went to the bar room from 12 years ago to sleep through the night.
Before she knew it, it was the weekend. Yun Jin met with Lan Li and had to go home before eight o'clock.
"You're not going to work tomorrow, why are you going home so early?" Lan Li asked, puzzled.
Yun Jin calmly replied, "I'm going to the Royal Bar."
"where?"
Although Lan Li is currently staying at home, she remains highly proactive. Before you even asked, she had already taken out her phone to check.
It would have been better if I hadn't checked. Once I did, I found out that the bar had been closed for almost ten years, and the street where it was located had been demolished and is now a large commercial area.
"...They've all been demolished, why would you still go there?" Lan Li asked humbly, pointing to the commercial district.
Yun Jin: "Yours is disassembled, mine isn't."
Lan Li: "?"
Yun Jin smiled, picked up her car keys, and left.
The Royal Bar opens at 8 p.m., and its peak hours are after 10 p.m. When she arrived, it was still relatively quiet.
Although she had been looking for Hua Yu all this time, when she saw her arrive, several waiters in the lobby rushed over, while Hua Yu, who was not far away, kept her head down wiping the table.
It was as if I didn't see her.
Yun Jin ignored him and raised her hand to greet the boys.
"Sister Yun, why are you here so early tonight?" a boy asked.
Yun Jin: "Nothing much, so I came early."
"Great! We're so bored. Sister Yun, would you like to play cards? We'll keep you company."
The person speaking intentionally or unintentionally blocked her view to prevent her from noticing the flower bushes in the corner, while several others were also trying to attract her attention.
Yun Jin didn't care about their little schemes and readily agreed.
She doesn't like noise, and she can count the number of times she's been to entertainment venues on two hands over the past few decades. But recently she's been coming more often and finding it quite interesting.
Young men who frequent nightclubs are adept at all kinds of party games, have a smooth tongue, and are good at reading people's expressions. They buzz around like bees, bringing joy to others.
As night deepened, the bar's business picked up, and Yun Jin's booths remained the most bustling, with people coming and going.
The last card landed on the table, and Yun Jin was greeted with a round of applause.
She stood up, took out a wad of cash from her bag, and tossed it to the young man who had been diligently feeding her cards: "Five cards each, the rest are yours."
"Long live Sister Yun!"
"Sister Yun, I love you!"
Cheers erupted from the booth, and Yun Jin really felt the noise; she even quickened her pace.
Like an elegant peacock, she escaped the explosion site.
This is how Hua Yu, who was serving cocktails to guests, commented.
The corners of his lips had just begun to curve into a slight smile when Yun Jin suddenly looked at him.
Hua Yu turned cold in a second, and after delivering the wine, she went to the bar to get another bottle of wine.
Inside the private room, Yun Jin sat on the sofa and waited for a moment before looking up at Hua Yu, who had already entered.
"What kind of wine is it today?" she asked.
Hua Yu: "Dry red wine."
"How much is it after the discount?" Yun Jin asked again.
Hua Yu: "3115."
Yun Jin laughed: "When you choose wine every time, do you just press the calculator?"
Hua Yu looked up at her. The hall was suddenly illuminated by bright lights, which shone through the decorative glass behind him and fell squarely on Yun Jin's smiling eyes.
After a moment of silence, Hua Yu took the wine and walked to the coffee table. Just like the manager had instructed her, she knelt down on one knee and poured her a glass.
“No,” he said. “You’ve been having a drink every time you come lately, so I was considering the taste while I was pressing the calculator.”
Yun Jin's eyes flickered slightly, her gaze falling on his hand holding the wine bottle.
The wine was cold, and his fingertips were red from the cold, long and beautiful.
The temperament of hands also changes with age. Although Hua Cheng's hands are beautiful, his knuckles are more defined and his fingers are stronger. When he moves them, they are domineering and forceful, unlike his, which easily evokes feelings of 'pity'.
Yun Jin looked at him for a moment, then reached out and wiped away the fine glitter that had somehow gotten on the back of his hand: "Are you really not going to sell?"
Hua Yu: "..."
