Chapter 29 The Final Battle Welcome back, Big Iron...
It must be almost night time, as the lights at the entrance of the shopping street are dim, with only the dim light from the mining lamps and the sound of water flowing in the rusty pipes.
The happy aromas of the delicious food were gone, and all that was left was the musty odor of the doll's fabric and stuffing.
The situation was tense and seemed to be on the verge of exploding. The disjointed teddy bears, the cracked porcelain dolls, and the grimy stuffed rabbits revealed the anger of being abandoned. And the last large piece of iron was clearly the core and key to the chaos. It was obvious that it had indeed experienced a serious accident. The steel plates on its body were patched together, and its eyes now emitted cold red beams like radioactive lamps.
Kiara stepped over there and said, "Big iron block, how did you become like this?"
It didn't speak, just raised its metal arm.
"careful!"
I don't know who started it first, but a melee suddenly broke out between the two sides. The dolls were naturally no match for the warriors' swords, and soon they were shaken and flew into the sky in circles.
A lot of cotton gushed out from the doll, like a huge ball of snow, flooding the small space and blocking everyone's view.
Ye Wan hid in the cotton for half a day with her hands protecting her head, but was still inevitably hit on the head by a little bear. She bent down to grab it and accidentally pulled off the name tag on its neck, which had the words "Bobo Tang" written on it.
"Give it back to me!" The little bear trembled its legs in her hands, its voice filled with tears. "Give it back to me, it was given to me by my master."
A large iron block in the distance slammed against the wall violently, and the entire space began to shake. While Ye Wan was distracted, Little Bear snatched the name tag away and quickly buried it in the cotton.
"Let's retreat first." Already in a state of panic, Kiara couldn't fight any longer. "Lion" Berlin took the lead, saying, "This robot is truly formidable. Even swords and spears can't penetrate it. Let's retreat first and hold a combat meeting!"
Ye Wan was still struggling in the cotton when You An grabbed his arm and led him back. Everyone ran into the shopping street and blocked the intersection with heavy shields.
Berlin carried a blackboard over and drew a complicated battle plan on it. His leather boots were gnawed by clockwork beetles, leaving a big hole, revealing his rainbow-colored socks.
Everyone stared at his shoes, causing Arthur Berlin to become a little annoyed and angry: "What are you looking at! Look at the blackboard!"
As expected of the first brave warrior of the Griffin Association, his battle plan was very meticulous and clear. First, he sent the vanguard troops to use shields to protect themselves from the dolls' attacks; the middle few people made a detour to avoid the robots' attacks; and the last few warriors approached the big iron block and tried to operate the center console on its back.
Kiara stood up: "I'll go, I know where its center console is and how to operate it."
Ye Wan was in a daze until Pancake touched her face with his claws worriedly, and then she came to her senses. Everyone was looking at her.
"Sorry." She apologized quickly: "I was thinking about the little bear named Bobotang just now. I mean, these dolls should have owners..."
The blond elf sitting in the corner suddenly stood up and asked, "What did you call that little bear?"
"Uh... I looked at the name tag hanging on its chest, and it said Bobo Candy." Ye Wan was shocked by her reaction.
The blond elf said excitedly, "That should be my little bear. When my parents and I were moving on a flying carpet, it was blown away by the dragon's breath. I searched for it for a long time but couldn't find it."
Youan reacted quickly: "So, those dolls are taking revenge on the humans who abandoned them?"
"I'm not going to abandon it. I have to make it clear to it."
The blonde elf picked up her skirt and was about to run out, with Kiara following closely behind. Berlin threw the blackboard: "Hey, hey, you girls, don't leave, listen to my instructions."
The heavy shields that blocked the shopping street were moved back out of the way, and a group of scarred dolls glared at them angrily.
The blonde elf ran out and ran to the little bear: "Poposugar, I'm Vera, I've been looking for you."
The little bear was dirty, its fur matted, but the name tag around its neck was polished to a shine, showing it was well-maintained. It stared blankly at Vera, its voice hoarse and aggrieved, "You said you would always be with Popo Candy."
Vera took out a diary, which recorded her search for Popos: she found a doll that looked like Popos in the dragon's treasury on the -25th floor; in the black water pond on the -21st floor, she accidentally got her left hand entangled by a giant octopus, leaving a huge scar that has not disappeared until now.
When the first tear fell on Popotang's head, the anger in its eyes disappeared. It just touched the scar on her hand with its furry paws, then threw itself into her arms and burst into tears: "Popotang has suffered a lot of grievances, but you look the most painful!"
The warriors, holding various weapons and ready to go to war, stood at the back and looked at each other, not knowing what to do in the face of such a touching and heartwarming scene.
Some of the dolls began to hesitate in their movements. The cicada from the tailor shop also walked over to a rabbit without a head and gently stroked its head. There was a long section of loose thread there, which it had sewed together crookedly with its own claws. It also embroidered the words "Strong Little Rabbit" on itself with colored thread.
"I have great skills and can sew all of these together. Would you like to come home with me?" asked the cicada.
Other residents of the underground city also stood up. The rock man squatted down and held the hand of the rusty iron soldier, and the mealworm man picked up the clockwork beetle.
Suddenly, a laser shot out again, shaking off the rubble on the rock wall. Everyone fled in terror. The doll raised an eyebrow behind them. "The touching reunion scene is over. I knew these discarded human trash would start to slide down again. Now it's our turn to rule the dungeon."
Kiara angrily picked up her iron sword and said, "How dare you treat my big piece of iron like this? No matter who you are, I will not forgive you."
She quickly went around behind a large iron block under the cover of several warriors. There was a thick armor covering it, but a red cable was exposed outside.
Kiara gritted her teeth and tried to pull the red string away, but was thrown to the ground by the angry big block of iron.
"Kiraiya, come back!" Ye Wan shouted worriedly.
After being thrown to the ground for the fourth time, Kiara heard a crisp sound from her arm.
Youan, Berlin and several other warriors were still trying to attract the attention of the big iron block in front, preventing it from locking onto the target.
Kiara spat out the blood foam in her mouth and climbed onto its back again. The warm blood seeped into the center console through the gap.
"Hey, Big Iron, I know you remember me. When you do, you have to make a hundred strawberry cakes to apologize to me."
After being thrown down again, a scarlet beam of light pierced her shoulder. Ye Wan hurriedly helped the dungeon residents to carry her back.
Ye Wan smelled the smell of rusty blood in the air, as well as the smell of the cloth on Kiara's shoulder being burned by the laser.
"You'll die." Ye Wan sprayed medicine on her wound with a trembling voice: "Let's retreat first."
Kiara pushed Ye Wan away and rushed forward again, opening the protective area on its back. Inside was a black control device wrapped in an old video recorder.
At this moment, the group of plush toys suddenly ran over, climbed onto the big iron block with their tiny bodies, tried to pull the huge metal arm, and kept shouting its name: "Big Iron Block, Big Iron Block, wake up."
The black device was stuck to its back like glue. Kiara tried her best but still couldn't remove it.
But when she touched the old VCR underneath, there were two flashes of light, and then a picture appeared.
The picture shows Kiara.
Kiara cried loudly when she was bullied in a church school, Kiara practiced martial arts with an iron sword, and Kiara laughed heartily at the camera after capturing a monster...
"Kiraya..." A gentle mechanical voice came along with the crackling noise of electricity.
She lay on the big piece of iron and shed tears. Kiara had not heard such a gentle call from the big piece of iron for many years.
It gently raised its arm, put Kiara down, and then fiercely pulled out the black control device behind it and smashed it to the ground.
The big iron block fell down like a collapsed tower, raising a thick cloud of dust. The black device was connected to the core, and when it was pulled off, the chip shattered together. The engine oil flowed down from the back like black blood.
Its scarlet eyes also turned into a dull gray, and could go out completely at any time.
Kiara walked slowly towards it, her boots and prosthetic limbs firmly planted on the ground, and looked down at it.
Just like when they first met, she was only a little bit taller and the big iron block was looking down at her.
"Can you still see me?" she said with trembling lips.
The other person's gray eyes faced her, as if looking at her.
But there was no response. All that could be heard was various electronic noises caused by the malfunction, like the gasping sounds of a seriously injured monster.
Kiara silently took out the leather bag from her waist, which contained various medicines, a compass, almost-eaten seaweed rice rolls, and a box of strawberry cake.
The cream on the cake had collapsed and was sticky everywhere; the strawberries were also a little shriveled, but the sweet aroma of strawberry jam and cream remained.
She half-knelt down, placed the cake in front of the robot, and then hummed "Happy Birthday" softly.
Kiara's singing was not very accurate, but the melody was very gentle, and everyone listened to her singing quietly.
Then, she spread some cream with her finger and applied it to the corner of Big Iron's mouth. Her voice was as soft as a sigh: "Today is your birthday. Do you remember, Big Iron?"
August 13th, the day it was activated.
There was light, tiny, gentle spots of light, spreading from the cake she was holding. The light slowly flowed along the cracks in the big iron block and into the broken chips.
The light became more and more, and those suspended light spots were like countless stars in the sky, all gathered on its chip and then penetrated into it.
A sound was heard, no longer the cold mechanical sound, no longer the sound of air flowing from the turning gears.
"Boom...Boom" is the soft beating of a mortal heart.
Its eyes lit up again, no longer the terrifying scarlet light, but the same clear blue as Kiara's, like the clear sky and clear sea of Calmet.
It let out a low sigh, then raised one of its scarred mechanical arms, its knuckles slightly curled, as if it wanted to touch something.
Kiara smiled and reached out to shake its hand.
"Welcome home, big iron."
