Chapter 13: Let's continue to savor it.
Lu Xiaofeng listened to his sigh and took a closer look at the screen, but unfortunately he couldn't see anything cute about the gloomy scene.
—The first few levels can be completed smoothly by simply following the instructions, but after several tutorial levels, the game gradually becomes more difficult.
After a brief introduction to the rules and a tutorial on how to use the mouse, Lu Xiaofeng became the main operator. However, Sikong Zhaixing, who was watching with his arms crossed, would occasionally offer some suggestions. The two of them worked together, and although they were still unfamiliar with the rules and gameplay, they managed to win each game by the skin of their teeth.
Every now and then, Lu Xiaofeng would take the time to explain to Hua Manlou, who was next to him, what the newly unlocked plant patterns looked like.
Seeing ice-spitting peas and carnivorous plants, one can't help but doubt one's own vision, realizing they are all just the illustrator's wild imagination.
Looking at the warm and cozy scene before him, Lu Yusheng was somewhat surprised, thinking to himself that the ancients had rather novel tastes, and could accept this so well.
However, their strong acceptance was ultimately a good thing for her, so she casually said, "If you like this type of game, I'll let you try some AAA titles in the future, like 'Biohazard Attack' or 'The Living Dead Hunter,' which have much more refined graphics and hundreds of levels of gameplay than this."
But not now. First, resources are tight right now, and she's reluctant to trade in computers with too high a configuration. Second, she's afraid they'll be scared by the overly realistic visuals.
Since they weren't very familiar with each other yet, Lu Yusheng was afraid of failing to intimidate them and being reported as a monster, even though these people all looked like nice guys...
Let's play some simple drawing games with them first.
After finishing the level, Lu Xiaofeng continued to use the mouse clumsily, planting a row of frowning gourds while hearing Sikong Zhaixing ask her with great interest, "What is 3A?"
"3A is..."
Lu Yusheng was stumped. How could he explain this? He could only give a vague answer: "It's just a game with better production quality and clearer graphics, but we can't play it yet."
Hearing her affirmative answer, although the two were even more puzzled about her origins, they didn't ask any more questions and quickly returned to the game.
However, while Plants vs. Zombies has a low barrier to entry, its level design is quite ingenious.
Soon, the difficulty increased sharply after a few levels, and a miscalculation led to their consecutive defeats.
After all five rows of wheelbarrows were used up, the zombies broke through the defenses, and the "Game Over" message popped up.
Seeing that the image for the next level hadn't appeared, Lu Xiaofeng rubbed his sore eyes and asked Lu Yusheng, "Is it over?"
What's the point of watching a bunch of novices play this kind of old puzzle game? At this moment, Lu Yusheng had already taken out his phone's memo app and started brainstorming future business plans.
Hearing this, he patiently looked up at the screen and briefly explained, "Well, we've already lost, so we can only start over."
After saying that, he stretched out his hand and pointed to a spot in the middle of the screen, giving a hint: "Tap here to go back to the first level and start over."
Seeing that all the progress she had painstakingly made over the course of half a day had been wiped out, Sikong Zhaixing stood up in disappointment, muttering, "This is boring, it's not interesting at all," as she retrieved her phone from the table.
After playing for a while, Lu Xiaofeng also felt that doing the same thing in each level and clicking repeatedly was quite boring.
In other words, the images are quite charming, and after looking at them for a while, you can't help but wonder what new and interesting plants will appear next.
Hua Manlou responded enthusiastically, "I find it quite interesting. It seems I should plant a couple more pots of flowers at the entrance when I get back."
Lu Xiaofeng laughed upon hearing this: "What, are you afraid that zombies will invade?"
When he said that, Hua Manlou couldn't help but laugh along, and didn't refute him.
Then, Lu Xiaofeng and Sikong Zhaixing, who had been sitting at their computers for a long time, stood up one after the other. Lu Xiaofeng stretched his limbs and asked, "Do you have any good wine here?"
Lu Yusheng wondered why everyone seemed to ask this question, since this was an internet cafe, not a bar.
But she still answered politely, "No."
Lu Xiaofeng was somewhat disappointed upon hearing this, so he compromised and said, "If there's no good wine, something less is fine too."
Lu Yusheng's lips twitched slightly, somewhat speechless: "No, there isn't."
She naively thought that this answer would make him give up, but she never expected that Lu Xiaofeng would be so patient in this matter.
Then I heard him plead again, "Even if it's far from perfect, a little bit of alcohol will do."
This time, even Hua Manlou, who hadn't moved from his seat, couldn't help but turn his head to look over, smiling and trying to tell him not to push his luck.
Surprisingly, Lu Yusheng didn't deny it anymore. Instead, he thought about it seriously before replying, "That seems like a possibility..."
She scurried to the cashier, carefully skirting around Hua Manlou, and after searching the screen, opened the drawer of what appeared to be an ordinary-looking but actually otherworldly vending machine.
Sure enough, there were already four or five bottles of wine and cocktails inside, with a much sweeter taste than alcoholic.
The three men's eyes followed her every move until they saw her pull out a bunch of colorful glass bottles. Unable to contain his curiosity, Lu Xiaofeng asked first, "What are these?"
"Here's the wine you wanted." Lu Yusheng smiled and handed Hua Manlou a bottle, then came out again after watching him take it.
However, she doesn't usually drink alcohol, so she can't easily open this beer bottle cap-like design.
However, there are several experts here, each with profound internal strength, so she doesn't need to worry about this small problem.
As Hua Manlou listened to her explanation, he used his slender, fair fingers on his left hand to easily pull off the bottle cap, a contrast that amazed Lu Yusheng.
After opening the lid, he didn't drink it directly like the other two. Instead, he took a sniff first and exclaimed with delight, "It actually smells like jasmine!"
Then he brought the bottle to his lips, feeling the sweet liquid slowly slide down his throat and into his stomach.
It's certainly not like those fine wines that leave you feeling warm all over, but it still has its own unique flavor.
Lu Xiaofeng and Sikong Zhaixing were clearly not used to drinking it. They were given a fruity one, and the white peach flavoring was quite strong for them. After four or five sips, they felt a bit cloying.
Although it has a strong sugar flavor, it does have a slight alcoholic taste, but it doesn't cause headaches; it's very mild.
Lu Xiaofeng prided himself on his high alcohol tolerance, so if he were to drink this with someone, he would truly be able to drink a thousand cups without getting drunk.
