Chapter Ninety-Four
On the other side, Jiang You was wearing pajamas. A simple T-shirt, knee-length cotton shorts, and his slippers were nowhere to be seen; he was standing barefoot in place.
She stood motionless like a piece of wood, looking utterly wretched and pitiful at first glance.
The private parking lot on the second basement level was quiet again. The bodyguards, used to big scenes, were unfazed by this minor disturbance.
Jiang You paused for a moment before speaking, "Xia, Brother Xia Bei, thank you. Well then, I'll head back now."
Xia Bei, who was talking to the bodyguard with a slight smile, paused, and the smile in his eyes faded a bit.
After briefly explaining his brother's situation, he turned his gaze to the girl with an indescribable expression.
My god! That gaze is so oppressive. Jiang You's fingers tightened. Seeing that the man didn't speak, she forced a polite smile and prepared to leave.
Are you really going to walk back barefoot like that?
Xia Bei spoke casually, taking a step with each sentence, and soon he was in front of her.
Do you have any cash on you?
Where's your phone?
The girl opened her mouth, but the man was very close to her, his light-colored eyes looking down at her.
Her heart began to race and she started to panic. Before she could react, the other person said lightly, "I'll take you back, but before that, we need to go upstairs and find a pair of shoes, don't we?"
Although it was a question, the tone left no room for argument.
"I...I..." Jiang You didn't know how to reply, because she felt that Xia Bei's words made a lot of sense.
She has no cash and no cell phone, so it seems she can't go back to school.
"No need to change my shoes... I'll trouble Brother Xia Bei to take me back to school," she thought for a moment and agreed.
"How can this be?" Xia Bei stepped forward, almost pressing against her, and put his large hand around her waist.
Jiang You felt her feet suddenly dangle in the air. When she came to her senses, she was sitting on the man's right arm, like holding a child.
Unsteady on her feet, she wanted to grab the man's shoulder, but then remembered that he was Xia Yan's brother, and such a high-ranking official, so she pulled back.
Her eyes widened in disbelief, her face flushed red, and she stammered, "Xia...Xia Bei?"
What is he doing? This is way too intimate!
I only ever got hugged like that by my parents when I was little; I haven't done it since I grew up.
"Were you always so careless about yourself?" Xia Bei lowered his eyes, lingering on the girl's ankles.
He touched the soles of her feet with the palm of his other hand.
As he pulled back, his fingertips accidentally slipped, and Jiang's right toe twitched pitifully.
"What if you accidentally scrape your skin?" Xia Bei took a long stride and walked calmly toward the elevator. "You'll die if the wound gets infected. I'll disinfect your shoulder while I'm at it."
The bodyguards, who had been expressionless and calm, suddenly had subtle changes in their expressions.
If they remember correctly, this little girl just separated from the young master, right? So what is the eldest young master doing?
The elevator doors closed, blocking the bodyguards' view.
Jiang You bit her lip, unable to persuade Xia Bei to put her down. Her fingertips twitched, and she silently shut her mouth.
Inside the bathroom of the large, single-level apartment.
Xia Bei placed her on the toilet seat, got up to get the showerhead, and rinsed her feet.
He was half-squatting, his knees not touching the ground.
Her neatly slicked-back hair had a few stray strands falling across her forehead, and a very faint black mole sat beneath her almond-shaped eyes.
The black cuffs were rolled up at the elbows, revealing strong, muscular forearms.
After Xia Bei finished rinsing, she gently wiped the water droplets off her feet with a towel.
After wiping one foot, she placed the clean foot on his kneeling thigh.
Jiang You was startled by the firm, warm fleshy sensation and instinctively tried to pull his foot back.
"Don't move."
