Chapter 107 Staying Away From You

Chapter 107 Staying Away From You

Tan Zhaojing didn't find it sarcastic; Ji Baishen was simply jealous.

Under the cool water, the burning sensation on his skin was relieved, and Tan Zhaojing's cool heart gradually warmed up.

She still cares about him.

He unconsciously kissed her forehead. Lin Zaoyi's attention was completely on the back of his hand at the moment, and she didn't realize that this person was being shameless again.

The secretary brought over ice cubes and was secretly surprised. So the two were a couple?

That boss…

Interference?

Preparing to become a mistress?

He walked over discreetly and handed her the gauze, saying, "Miss Lin, here you go."

Lin Zaoyi turned off the tap. "Thank you."

Tan Zhaojing's sleeve was soaked, mixed with water and the coffee that had splashed on it earlier. She unbuttoned her cuff and rolled it up. "Does the pain feel any better?"

Meeting those worried eyes, Tan Zhaojing felt a warmth spread through her heart. "I'm much better now. Go finish the rest of the interviews, and I'll have a chat with Ji Baishen."

Lin Zaoyi: "No rush."

It wasn't appropriate to linger in President Ji's private lounge, so she led him out. In those few short meters, Tan Zhaojing felt incredibly satisfied.

The gauze was individually packaged and sealed. Lin Zaoyi opened it and wrapped it around the back of his hand layer by layer. As she did so, she reminded him, "Go to the hospital if you get blisters."

Then I remembered, "Do I still have the burn ointment from last time?"

Tan Zhaojing hummed in agreement. "Then come with me to Jingwan after we're done with our work?"

Lin Zaoyi asked, puzzled, "Why would I go to your place?"

He said with a serious expression, "Apply the medicine."

Lin Zaoyi: "?"

She was speechless. "It's not like it's my back."

Tan Zhaojing argued logically, "My left hand is uncomfortable, making it inconvenient to apply medicine."

"I'll get it for you." Ji Baishen's eyes hurt from looking at it, and he was also annoyed by what he heard. "Tan Zhaojing, I'm fine with staying at your place."

Tan Zhaojing glanced at it casually, "Besides my girlfriend, I'm not comfortable with outsiders coming and going at my private residence."

Ji Baishen chuckled, a laugh laced with sarcasm.

Lin Zaoyi decided to leave this place of trouble and turned to Ji Boshen's assistant, "Shall we continue?"

The assistant shared the same idea, "Okay."

This time, Tan Zhaojing didn't follow. He sat down opposite the desk, his fingertips intentionally or unintentionally rubbing the gauze. Noticing the gaze coming from across the room, he met it and asked, "Is there something you need?"

Ji Baishen gave a weak smile, saying, "It's just a tattered gauze bandage; I don't understand what's so special about it."

She glanced at him expressionlessly, "Nothing to do?"

Tan Zhaojing: "Something happened because someone wanted to interfere."

Ji Boshen automatically assumed the situation was his, saying, "As far as I know, Lin Zaoyi broke up with you."

Tan Zhaojing was not affected by these words. Her face remained calm, and her voice was even. She said in a clear and indifferent tone, "If I remember correctly, you have a history of dating."

Ji Baishen paused slightly, "And then?"

Tan Zhaojing responded with a rhetorical question, "Can you really take a breakup threat made during a tantrum seriously?"

Ji Boshen hit the nail on the head and pointed out the key point: "I won't stop you from deceiving yourself, but the facts are already in front of us: Lin Zaoyi has agreed to the blind date."

Upon hearing this, Tan Zhaojing narrowed his long, narrow eyes. "So you're planning to get involved?"

Ji Baishen's lips curled into a barely perceptible smile. "I don't mind a threesome."

Tan Zhaojing: "..."

Unable to resist, he grabbed the folder in his hand and threw it. Ji Baishen dodged it smoothly to the side. The folder arced through the air and fell to the ground with a dull thud.

Ji Baishen picked it up unhurriedly and threw it across the table. The sound of it being thrown was much crisper than before.

Tan Zhaojing's eyebrows and eyes did not move an inch.

Ji Baishen glanced at him coldly, "Is that all the magnanimity you have?"

Tan Zhaojing: "It depends on whether they are human or beast."

Ji Baishen: "......"

...

Half an hour later, Lin Zaoyi came out of the inner meeting room, and Tan Zhaojing and Ji Baishen sat facing each other.

One was flipping through documents, the other was looking down at an approval report. They didn't exchange any words, each busy with their own tasks, but she could sense an invisible tension between them.

Hearing footsteps, Tan Zhaojing turned his head, and Ji Baishen also turned his gaze.

For a moment, both of them looked over. Lin Zaoyi felt uneasy for a split second and unconsciously moved closer to Tan Zhaojing.

Tan Zhaojing closed the document, said, "Say goodbye to President Ji, and I'm leaving."

Anyone could tell he was subtly asserting his sovereignty.

Ji Baishen didn't even give a glance, his gaze fixed on the girl. "It's lunchtime, want to join us?"

Unsurprisingly, she refused. He nodded, "Then next time."

Tan Zhaojing chimed in, "Next time we'll invite President Ji."

Ji Baishen didn't bother with him.

Tan Zhaojing didn't seem inclined to continue the conversation. He took the laptop bag with one hand and held his girlfriend's hand with the other.

As Ji Baishen closed the office door, his gaze remained fixed on his boss. His assistant, who hadn't left, waited for his next instructions. After a moment of silence, the assistant subconsciously looked at Ji Baishen, who was now smoking a cigarette. The smoke billowed, casting an ambiguous shadow over his expression.

On the other side, inside the elevator.

Lin Zaoyi's hand was being held by someone, whether intentionally or not, the person was holding her hand with the bandaged hand.

She didn't dare struggle, and glanced at him, saying, "Can't you be a little more considerate?"

He frowned slightly. "It hurts a little."

Upon hearing this, she placed her hand on the back of his hand, "Let go first, let me see."

Tan Zhaojing: "It's alright, I can bear it."

Lin Zaoyi became suspicious. Her lowered eyelashes lifted again. Under the cold light of the elevator, the man's expression was calm and indifferent. She stared at him for two seconds, but saw nothing amiss.

I still have to ask: "Are you faking it?"

He smiled, a hint of helplessness in the curve of his lips. "No, but if you say it's an act, then it's an act."

That makes her seem unreasonable.

The elevator made a ding, indicating that we had arrived at the basement level.

After walking a distance, Lin Zaoyi could no longer see her electric scooter; instead, she found herself getting closer and closer to his car.

The driver opened the back door, but she didn't get in. Instead, she asked the driver, "Where did I park my car?"

Tan Zhaojing continued, "I had the driver take me to the radio station."

"...Then how should I reply?"

“Of course I’ll take you.” He said quite frankly, “It’s on purpose, so you can spend more time with me.”

This man is really something. Just such a plain sentence, not even a love confession, and she was stirred up by it.

But that won't work.

Lin Zaoyi shook her head.

Tan Zhaojing bent down to meet her gaze, "How's your studying going lately?"

Lin Zaoyi didn't quite understand how the topic had jumped to this point, and vaguely replied, "It's alright."

He interpreted it as, "That's just so-so. I have some study materials on my desk that you can learn from, and I happen to be here too, so I can tutor you."

It has to be said, she was tempted.

She was so pathetic. She thought that during this time apart, she could at least forget him completely, or at least let him fade away a bit. But in reality, as soon as he reappeared, all her efforts were in vain.

We can't afford to be so degenerate.

She subtly adjusted her emotions, and when she spoke again, her tone was decisive: "No need, I can just look it up online when I get back."

"It's not available online."

"I'm not going then."

Tan Zhaojing was left helpless by his resolute attitude; his previous obedience in the office was just a fleeting moment.

Knowing full well, yet still asking, "Why?"

The girl's answer was quite straightforward: "Stay away from you."

"..."

He doesn't get angry; he gets used to it after a while.

His Adam's apple bobbed. "You think it can get that far?"
