Chapter 110 What did I do to offend you?

Chapter 110 What did I do to offend you?

Xiang Nan shook her head, "The Tan family specifically requested you."

This was a difficult question to answer, so Lin Zaoyi smiled knowingly, pretending to be clueless.

The editor-in-chief added, "After thinking about it, I finally decided to let everyone know at the meeting. The Tan family's business is such a big piece of the pie, it can't be kept secret, so it's better to be open and honest from the beginning."

Lin Zaoyi understood, "Thank you, editor-in-chief."

Xiang Nan smiled and said, "I should thank you. Without your connections, I wouldn't have met my sales target ahead of schedule."

He nodded slightly and said, "Go ahead. The appointment is at 11 o'clock. Even though you're still an intern, your performance is there, so you'll still get a bonus."

Finally, he added, "It has nothing to do with Mr. Ming; it's entirely due to your ability. So far, you're the only one in my team who hasn't been scolded by me. I hope you can keep it up."

Lin Zaoyi: "..."

The next second, she chuckled.

Xiang Nan smiled too.

The Venetian blinds in the conference room were drawn, and the scene of the two talking was clearly seen by a group of people working in the office. They couldn't hear what they were saying, but just by looking at this scene, they could tell that they were having a very pleasant conversation.

The colleague was unhappy, but also had doubts. Logically speaking, shouldn't the editor-in-chief be more considerate of Fu Sipei?

On second thought, it's not surprising. The editor-in-chief is like that; he won't favor one person over another. Besides, Lin Zaoyi's achievements are indeed outstanding, securing exclusive rights one after another, and from leading companies.

Looking at Fu Sipei again, I felt a bit more complicated. If she didn't have good resources, how come her abilities were so mediocre?

At least her biological mother is President Ming.

Fu Sipei ignored the stares coming from all sides, lowered her eyes, and pretended to be very busy. Just yesterday she was wondering if Lin Zaoyi was Aunt Ming's daughter, but it turns out she's already won over the editor-in-chief!

Out of the corner of her eye, she saw the two of them come out of the conference room. The editor-in-chief took the documents and went outside. Lin Zaoyi walked over here. She couldn't bear it anymore. Anyway, there was Aunt Ming, and if things got really bad, there was Editor-in-Chief Yuan to help.

The man suddenly stood up from the chair, and due to the force, the pulley hit the cabinet behind him, making a harsh, dull sound that almost instantly drew attention.

Lin Zaoyi lifted her eyelids and saw Fu Sipei's gaze sweeping straight at her, her expression anything but friendly, even somewhat ferocious.

He slowed his pace. "What's wrong?"

Fu Sipei curled her lips, her expression a mixture of mockery and resentment, "You've blown your own horn!"

Lin Zaoyi: "Are you sick?"

Fu Sipei's mockery deepened, even becoming clearer. "I don't know who's sick, but I just want to ask, how can you be so shameless? Didn't you say you had a monopoly? How could you get access to Tan's News if you monopolized Editor-in-Chief Yuan?"

All the colleagues understood what he said, and within an hour of what happened in the break room yesterday, the whole department knew.

Half the people take it as a joke, and it's harmless to make fun of someone. But the other half treat Lin Zaoyi as a joke. Even Editor-in-Chief Ming probably wouldn't dare to say that.

Someone forgot to close the window, and a gust of wind rushed in, blowing documents all over the table. My colleague was busy picking them up, but he also managed to keep an eye on the scene.

Lin Zaoyi's bangs flew wildly across her forehead, not yet falling down, but already being blown into disarray, just like her current mood—chaotic and bitter, as if a wad of cotton soaked in lemon juice had been stuffed into her heart.

It got clogged again after the acid was removed.

His gaze swept aimlessly out the window before returning, "Oh."

This reaction was not what Fu Sipei had expected. What she wanted was for Lin Zaoyi to be embarrassed, but without any reaction.

Just bear with it!

She sneered, "What do you mean, 'oh'?"

"If you can't even understand 'oh,' what kind of reporter are you? Go back to elementary school."

After saying that, Lin Zaoyi didn't even bother to look at her, picked up her bag and left the office.

She wouldn't go without pride, and she could talk about 'backbone' later when she had achieved something. Besides, she wanted to ask in person why she had agreed to it after making the promise.

It just so happens to be Yuan Lai.

At 10:40, Lin Zaoyi appeared at the Tan Group building and called the man's assistant, "Assistant Shao, I'm in the company lobby."

Assistant Shao was about to say, "Please come up," but then he pursed his lips and changed his words, "I'll come down to meet you."

After waiting for about three minutes, Lin Zaoyi saw Assistant Shao running over. "Miss Lin."

She smiled and nodded. "Thank you for your help."

Assistant Shao: "How could that be?"

He doesn't ask for anything now, he just wants the two of them to reconcile as soon as possible. He really doesn't want to work any more shifts.

A crisp sound of high heels approached from afar. Both of them turned their heads slightly, and in less than half a second, Lin Zaoyi looked away.

A look of surprise flashed across Assistant Shao's eyes. What was Yuan Lai doing here?

I really can't think of anything else besides an interview, but talking isn't exactly an order...?

I glanced at Miss Lin subconsciously. Hmm, she hasn't been with the boss for long, but she's already learned his composure and calmness perfectly.

"Assistant Shao," Yuan Lai approached with a smile, "Zao Yi is here too."

Lin Zaoyi truly admired him; even with his face torn to shreds, he could still smile and greet people. She couldn't do that.

To be fair, we should learn from Yuan Lai in this respect; the workplace needs someone as shrewd and resourceful as her.

Forcing a smile, she said, "I have other things to do."

The smile vanished completely the moment he turned around.

Assistant Shao hurriedly nodded to Yuan Lai, "Go ahead and get busy."

Inside the private elevator.

Lin Zaoyi looked down and fiddled with her phone, opening news and browsing shopping apps, then quitting to play a game in less than two seconds.

In a short while, a hundred unconscious little movements.

Others might not realize that this is a sign of her agitation.

"Miss Lin."

Assistant Shao's voice rang in her ears, and she turned her head, "What's wrong?"

There may be a misunderstanding.

Lin Zaoyi understood the seemingly random sentence and smiled, "It doesn't matter, it won't stop me from seeing it."

Assistant Shao: "..."

The elevator has arrived.

Lin Zaoyi stopped at the elevator entrance. "Assistant Shao, is your office also on the 32nd floor?"

Assistant Shao replied, "Director Zhao, who is in charge of the project, is in the boss's office. He will be in contact with you."

"Okay." Lin Zaoyi didn't argue or hold a grudge.

Assistant Shao walked ahead, stopped at the office door, and knocked, "Mr. Tan, Miss Lin has arrived."

"Enter."

He pushed him aside, and Mr. Tan had already gotten up from his office chair and was walking towards him. Before he even got close, Ms. Lin had already moved a few steps to the side, nodding politely but distantly. "Mr. Tan, could you please ask your project director to go to the conference room outside?"

Tan Zhaojing: "..."

Why do you seem angry?

Assistant Shao wanted to laugh, but fearing that laughing out loud would attract the boss's attention, he touched his nose to cover it up.

The half-open door was pushed open. "Mr. Tan."

The man was tall and about forty years old. Lin Zaoyi had seen him before; he had received her when she and Sister Qiao from CBN came here a few months ago.

The other person nodded to her, "Reporter Lin."

She smiled, "Director Zhao."

She glanced at Tan Zhaojing standing nearby, then looked away before his gaze met hers, smiling as she asked Director Zhao, "Is this news an exclusive?"

Tan Zhaojing chimed in, "Didn't I say I'd give you all the Tan family news from now on?"

Lin Zaoyi's lips curved into a smile, "Really?"

Tan Zhaojing: "..."

He stared at her for a few seconds, the more he looked, the more fake her smile seemed. "What did I do to you?"
