Chapter 111 Stay inside and don't come out.

Chapter 111 Stay inside and don't come out.

The director and his assistant Shao, who were near the station, exchanged a glance, both seeing a dilemma in each other's eyes.

Leaving is definitely not an option; I still have work to do.

If I stay, I'll have to witness firsthand the boss's subservient and servile behavior, which is too presumptuous of me.

Lin Zaoyi remained expressionless, speaking in a businesslike tone, "President Tan, what are you saying?"

It's "President Tan" again, and "your" again.

Tan Zhaojing frowned deeply and subconsciously reached out to take her hand, but instead of touching her, he was slapped.

Assistant Shao: "..."

Director: "..."

They exchanged another glance, and the next second, they turned their backs in tacit agreement. Lin Zaoyi assumed the interviewee was leaving, so she walked past him and asked, "Director Zhao, are you going outside?"

Director Zhao couldn't make the decision, so he looked at the boss, only to see President Tan slightly raise his finger, receive the signal, and turn his gaze back, saying, "Let's do it here."

This led them to the rest area.

Tan Zhaojing felt a sense of irritation. He poured himself half a glass of ice water, but didn't let it cool down at all.

"Mr. Tan," Assistant Shao said, trying to ease his boss's worries, "I think I know why Miss Lin is like this..."

I wanted to use nice words, but couldn't find a suitable alternative, so I simply said, "It's sarcastic and weird."

Tan Zhaojing temporarily disregarded the description, saying, "I don't even know, how could you possibly know?"

Assistant Shao was speechless; even the dog was speechless.

I dare to raise an objection: "Isn't your focus a bit too narrow?"

Tan Zhaojing narrowed his eyes slightly, "My girlfriend's affairs are less known to an outsider than to me. Why are you bringing this up?"

Assistant Shao: "..."

He should have shut up.

The boss glanced at him coolly and said, "Speak."

Of course, it's because the person in front of you is the one who pays the salary.

Assistant Shao succinctly summarized, "Miss Lin ran into Yuan Lai downstairs ten minutes ago."

Without needing to ponder the reasons, Tan Zhaojing raised an eyelid, his expression no longer concealing his indifference, and said, "You can make such a basic mistake?"

Assistant Shao almost cried foul, "I not only copied the email, but I also had my secretary go to the public relations department to give a verbal notification."

Tan Zhaojing understood, his eyes darkening slightly. "Call the head of the public relations department up."

After a half-second pause, she said, "I'll call after Zaoyi finishes her work."

About half an hour later, there was a commotion in the rest area. Tan Zhaojing glanced at his assistant, and Assistant Shao nodded to indicate that he understood. He took out his phone and dialed the number of the head of the public relations department, saying, "Come to the top floor."

After a moment's thought, he added, "The department manager should come up too."

In terms of etiquette, Lin Zaoyi was very attentive, saying, "Mr. Tan, I won't bother you any longer, please continue with your work."

"Wait," he said, his voice pulling her back.

She turned on her toes and said in an official tone, "Please speak."

Tan Zhaojing glanced at her and said, "Apologize to me properly later!"

"..."

She kept smiling. "Did I do something wrong?"

He nodded easily and said, "Okay, I'll apologize now."

Before the word "I'm sorry" could even be uttered, his voice came through first: "No rush, there's plenty of time."

Problem.

I gave them face, but I kept those two words to myself.

Perhaps unable to control his emotions for a moment, they showed on his face, a half-smile playing on his lips. "Not satisfied cursing in your heart? I'll give you plenty of time to curse slowly later."

"..."

Her phone vibrated. She looked down and saw the contact's name, which immediately raised a huge question mark in her mind. Forgetting her feigned politeness, she bluntly asked, "Why are you calling me for no reason?"

Tan Zhaojing loves this kind of communication. "I'll accept it."

Seeing that she didn't move, he took her phone, answered it, and put it back in her hand. With his other hand, he grabbed her laptop bag and led her to the lounge. "Don't come out."

He moved his fingertips to her earlobe and rubbed it. "Be good."

Lin Zaoyi blinked slowly twice. "Is...what's wrong?"

"To clear your name, don't close the door, otherwise you won't be able to hear."

Upon hearing this, the gloom in her heart quietly dissipated. She had misunderstood him, hadn't she?

Shortly after, there was a knock on the door. After a "come in," the public relations director and manager pushed the door open and entered. Almost instinctively, they looked at the person in the office chair. Although he had no expression, they felt a chill.

His gaze shifted to Assistant Shao, hoping for a hint, but the other man wouldn't meet his eyes.

The PR manager's eyelids twitched suddenly. He had a premonition that it was aimed at him. He had been with the company for almost seven years and had never been specifically called in by the boss before.

His brain was working at lightning speed, and apart from privately giving news to Yuan Lai, there were no other mistakes in his work.

Could it be because of this?

But it's just a small news item... It can't be that serious.

Just as I was making up my mind, I heard President Tan suddenly say, "Explain why Yuan Lai appeared at the company."

She looked up in horror.

The PR director was completely confused; when did visitor arrivals fall under the jurisdiction of their PR department?

Just as I was about to ask further, the manager spoke up weakly, "Mr. Tan, Editor-in-Chief Yuan came to see me..."

Tan Zhaojing looked at her indifferently, "Didn't you receive any notification or what?"

The manager, forcing a smile, replied, "I received it."

Meeting her boss's sharp gaze, the feeling of suffocation intensified. She barely managed to finish her sentence by pinching her fingers together, "I told him the truth before, but Editor-in-Chief Yuan wanted news related to the Yuan family, so he took it upon himself to do so..."

The large office was silent for a moment, then a soft laugh, devoid of any discernible emotion, rang out. "It seems you didn't heed my words. Since you disregard the rules, then please find another job."

The manager's face turned pale instantly. "President Tan! Please! Give me another chance... I've been with the company for seven years and have never made a mistake in my work!"

As he spoke, he subconsciously looked at his direct supervisor, his face full of pleading.

The director spoke up, but not to plead for his subordinates; he spoke for himself. He knew very well that the boss always meant what he said.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Tan, it was my mismanagement."

With a light tap of his fingertips on the table, Assistant Shao turned his head, understanding his boss's meaning, and asked several people, including himself, to leave the office.

Outside the door, the manager pleaded with Assistant Shao, promising that he would not make the same mistake again.

Assistant Shao could only remain indifferent; there was nothing he could do, since he had crossed President Tan's bottom line.

After walking a short distance, Director Zhao asked Assistant Shao, "What's the meaning behind President Tan hiding Reporter Lin inside? Is there something shady going on between you?"

Assistant Shao said, "Quite the opposite."

Director Zhao listened attentively.

"How could President Tan possibly allow Miss Lin to be involved in something as hateful as ruining someone's livelihood? Hatred can be transferred; they can't deal with President Tan, but Miss Lin is different."

Director Zhao nodded as if he had been taught a lesson, and then asked, "So, which family's daughter is Reporter Lin?"

Assistant Shao: "The Lin family."

Director Zhao: "..."
