Chapter 34: I once coveted you.

Chapter 34: I once coveted you.

After the Solo incident, Lin Zaoyi has offended Yu Long.

It was obvious that she was deliberately cutting back on her work, and she wouldn't even let anyone handle simple drafts.

It doesn't matter; she plans to take the CFA exam and is just worried about not having enough time to practice questions.

Just before leaving get off work, she received a package containing the pepper spray she ordered. Now, she had to prepare for Sun Yao's persistent harassment.

After driving for a while, they noticed a bright blue BMW following behind them. They couldn't think of anyone else but Sun Yao.

No, we can't drive into Xixi's apartment. With Sun Yao's abilities, getting an access card wouldn't be a problem.

He turned the steering wheel and drove off on any random road, but who knew that this beast would do something so strange.

Ignoring traffic conditions, they sped up and overtook other vehicles.

She couldn't keep up and slammed on the brakes.

The wheels screeched against the ground, making an extremely grating sound.

But I was still half a second too slow to react.

Bang--

The front of her car crashed straight into the rear of the BMW that had forced it to stop. Due to the inertia, her upper body lurched forward. Fortunately, she was wearing a seatbelt, or she would have been thrown out.

Before I could recover from the shock, everything went dark, and then a nimble figure appeared before me without warning, knocking on the car window.

She slid down mechanically, "What are you doing here..."

Tan Zhaojing's voice was restrained and gentle, "Are you injured anywhere?"

Lin Zaoyi shook her head.

Unexpectedly, the unease in her heart gradually subsided, and she felt relieved by his sudden appearance.

There was no time to investigate the change in emotions. He unbuckled his seatbelt, ready to settle the score, but Tan Zhaojing stopped him, saying, "I'll do it."

Then, she saw the usually aloof man roll up his sleeves, walk straight towards Sun Yao, grab him by the collar, and throw him violently backward, his protruding knuckles showing a sharp, angular movement.

Sun Yao cried out in pain and collapsed to his knees, yelling, "You fucking dare to hit me!"

He struggled to his feet, yelling, "Only you would want a used woman like that! Lin Zaoyi, you motherfucker—ah—"

Before he could finish speaking, he was kicked again.

Tan Zhaojing, expressionless, grabbed the other man's neck, the veins on his arm bulging with the force. "If you can't catch him, you resort to insults. Where's your manners?"

After saying that, he threw the person out again.

Sun Yao was in so much pain that he lost control of his expression. It took him a long time to catch his breath. Just as he was about to get up, his eyes stung, and he heard the hissing sound of the spray in his ears.

"Holy shit!"

Lin Zaoyi was still angry, so she raised her hand and kicked him in that area again. "Sun Yao, you'd better call the police!"

Sun Yao clutched his groin in pain, sprawled on the ground in a pathetic state, roaring arrogantly, "Do you know who my father is? I'll make you pay!"

Tan Zhaojing raised his lips slightly, his voice light and cold, "Sun Jiawei, is it?"

He turned to his assistant and said, "Call Sun Jiawei. If he doesn't discipline his son properly, it won't be as simple as just a beating."

A silent look of surprise crossed Assistant Shao's eyes. "Okay."

Speaking of which, Sun Jiawei and President Tan have some history, but as things stand now, compared to Miss Lin, it's nothing.

Hand over a wet wipe.

Tan Zhaojing took it, wiping it carefully between his fingers, and said, "Take the tram to the repair shop."

Lin Zaoyi, not wanting to trouble others, replied, "I can do it myself."

Someone glanced at her and said, "Get in the car with me."

She didn't want to go, her head hanging low, her voice soft, "I have things to do tonight."

Tan Zhaojing asked, "What is it?"

"To keep Xixi company..."

"I'll take you there."

"It's not far, let's go—"

"Get in the car." His voice was noticeably deeper.

"...oh."

The car was stuffy, and Lin Zaoyi wasn't used to it. She couldn't stand the atmosphere, so she secretly cracked the window open a crack. The noise drifted in, but it couldn't dispel the silent oppression.

"Was it Sun Yao who drugged me that night?" He suddenly glanced over.

The question was so unexpected and so explicit that blush instantly rose to her cheeks. She pursed her lips tightly and said, "Mmm."

He changed the subject, "Have you vented your anger enough?"

After a half-second pause, she replied, "It's alright."

Tan Zhaojing: "It's alright, but there's nothing. How do you plan to offer it?"

Lin Zaoyi told him seriously, "This is a society governed by the rule of law."

He inexplicably laughed at what seemed like a perfectly normal sentence, and the laugh added a touch of warmth to his otherwise cold and stern features. "I'm not going to kill him."

Her dismissive tone left her speechless for two seconds. "Then go ahead and do it. You're one of the victims, after all."

Tan Zhaojing slightly raised the corner of his lips, "Then forget it."

Lin Zaoyi: "?"

So generous?

But she was stingy.

The car arrived at the apartment and slowly came to a stop. At the same time, she heard the sound of the car door locking.

He turned his head, puzzled.

The man's lips curved slightly. "Let's talk about us."

Her fingers twitched unconsciously. "What are we talking about..."

After a moment's thought, the problem probably lay with her. Her preemptive conclusion was an insult to his masculine dignity, especially since it was a man like Tan Zhaojing. He had to give him the initiative.

Realizing this, he immediately offered a way out, "Brother Zhaojing, you may not know, but I noticed you in the lobby of the club that day. You were wearing a white shirt, and if there hadn't been other people around, I would have gone up to ask for your number."

Tan Zhaojing narrowed his eyes slightly. He couldn't quite figure out what she meant by those words, so he remained silent and just stared at her.

Lin Zaoyi continued, "At the time, I was thinking, how can I get involved with you? Who knew that the opportunity would come so suddenly? I'm not a casual person, but when I saw it was you, I became casual and became lustful towards you."

"Of course, drugging was not part of my plan. I'm not that ruthless."

I talked a lot, but he just grunted in response.

There was no reaction whatsoever, let alone any statement.

Perhaps seeing that she had stopped talking, he asked in a low voice, "Finished editing?"

Zao Yi was internally devastated, "It's not made up..."

"Then why did you delete the video?" Tan Zhaojing's gaze was fixed on her, neither too close nor too distant. "I did leave Jingbei, but I haven't heard you confess anything to me since I came back."

In a situation that was half true and half false, Lin Zaoyi tried her best to be completely honest, "Because I asked Xixi about it, and when I found out that you are Uncle Tan's son, I didn't dare to have any thoughts, let alone be honest. How could you expect me to say something like this... So, Brother Zhaojing, I did have feelings for you."

Silence fell in my ears.

She also shut her mouth at the right time.

About half a minute, or maybe less, he chuckled softly, the ambiguous curve of his lips making her feel guilty.

He asked, "Did you have?"

She forced herself to say, "Yes..."

He gave a guarantee: "Don't worry, I promise to keep to my proper place from now on."

Now comes the crucial part: "So... can we pretend this never happened?"

Tan Zhaojing's eyes turned cold, and a bunch of nonsense was waiting for him.

"I'm afraid it's difficult."

Lin Zaoyi tensed up. "What do you mean?"

Tan Zhaojing gave her a deep look, then frowned. "I'll give you three days to think it over."
