Chapter 51 Like I've Met You in a Past Life

Qiao Zhen panicked, but forced herself to remain calm and said, "No."

Lu Zheng's eyes were too sharp, possessing a terrifying magic that could see through people's hearts.

She avoided making eye contact with him.

This evasive answer made Lu Zheng realize she was lying, but he didn't call her out on it. Instead, he put his arm around her and led her to the sofa. "What do you want to eat tonight?"

It was only a little past two in the afternoon, but the owner and staff of the farmhouse were already busy, sitting under the grapevines in the middle of the courtyard skewering meat.

The faint sounds of laughter and chatter drifted over; what a pleasant afternoon.

Qiao Zhen hugged her legs and huddled in a corner of the sofa, thinking about the dishes Lu Zheng had ordered the night before last.

It's light, nutritious, and delicious.

Mrs. Joe was very happy.

She buried half her face in her knees, looking lost and melancholy. "You decide."

Lu Zheng will have the best choice.

Lu Zheng responded simply with a "Okay" in his magnetic voice.

Then, the guest room became quiet.

Qiao Zhen waited half a minute before secretly glancing at Lu Zheng on the other side of the sofa.

The sunlight shone on him, softening his sharp facial features and making him look like a bright and energetic young man who had just graduated from high school.

Qiao Zhen was stunned.

This Lu Zheng seemed familiar to her, as if she had seen him a long, long time ago.

It felt like a lifetime ago.

Lu Zheng suddenly raised his eyelids, and Qiao Zhen quickly looked away, finding it amusing.

As for past and present lives, it's probably because Lu Zheng, despite being affected by the rash, still possesses a look comparable to top celebrities, which is so easily perceived that it creates an illusion.

"Why are you spying on me, Zhenzhen?"

The man's breath washed over her like a tidal wave, and Qiao Zhen rubbed her face against her knees. "Doesn't President Lu need to go inspect the surrounding area?"

"No need." Lu Zheng gently placed his hand on her shoulder. "Zhenzhen is so concerned about whether I need to work, could it be that she wants to..."

Lu Zheng moved closer to Qiao Zhen.

"Sleep with me?"

Qiao Zhen nudged him with her elbow.

Lu Zheng smiled and grabbed her arm, sighing, "Zhenzhen's back hurts, so we can't enjoy ourselves. Let's call it a day."

Should Joe be thankful that he turned misfortune into a blessing in disguise?

She twisted her arm. "Mr. Lu, what I mean is that the rash on your face hasn't completely gone away yet. It would be best to apply the ointment again."

Consider it a way of repaying him for hiring a massage therapist to relieve her back pain.

Lu Zheng smiled and said, "Okay."

He took out the ointment from his pants pocket; Qiao Zhen had given it to him after applying it last time.

Qiao Zhen took the ointment and carefully applied it to each of the red rashes.

Beneath those soft, slender fingers, the pressure was gentle and tender, stirring ripples in one's heart.

Lu Zheng deliberately rubbed his cheek against Qiao Zhen's fingers.

Qiao Zhen flinched slightly, then ordered sternly, "Don't move."

"Okay," Lu Zheng replied lazily.

Qiao Zhen sighed inwardly. Lu Zheng's little actions just now were like those of an obedient big dog, which made her heart flutter.

They really know how to put on an act.

She pouted and deliberately increased the force, poking Lu Zheng's face.

Lu Zheng glanced at him sideways.

Qiao Zhen said in a serious tone, "Using a little pressure can help your skin absorb the medicine and help you get better sooner."

"oh?"

"If you don't believe me, then I'll continue to be gentler." Qiao Zhen said nonchalantly, "Anyway, it's not me who will be disfigured when the staff see it."

"That won't do." Lu Zheng grabbed Qiao Zhen's wrist. "Be serious."

"Okay, okay, okay." Qiao Zhen, with great determination, poked Lu Zheng's cheeks, not missing a single red rash, even finding red dots smaller than sesame seeds.

Doing this makes him seem like a naive and mischievous teenage student.

Qiao Zhen chuckled to herself, suddenly feeling a sensation she had experienced in her past life returned.

She stared blankly at his handsome face, and couldn't help but ask, "Mr. Lu, haven't we met before?"

Lu Zheng's eyes darkened. "What do you think?"

Qiao Zhen frowned, looked down and squeezed out a bit of ointment, "Maybe I misread it."

Lu Zheng's eyes flashed with a cold light. "Who did you mistake me for?"

Sensing something was wrong, Qiao Zhen quickly denied it, "No, no, it's probably because your appearance is too memorable."

Lu Zheng gestured for his fingers, which were resting on his lap, to slowly tighten, causing the neatly tailored suit trousers to crumple under his fingers.

Qiao Zhen caught a glimpse of it and regretted bringing up the topic so casually. She quickly applied the medicine more carefully.

Before long, the task was finally completed.

"Well done." Lu Zheng looked at his face in the mirror, from left to right. "So, having that caregiver take care of your mother long-term allows you to focus on your work, how does that sound?"

It's not good at all!

Qiao really wanted to shout that, but when she thought of her mother's health, her shoulders slumped.

After the doctor's advice and considering what happened last night, she is considering hiring a caregiver to help her out.

"Thank you, Mr. Lu. I hope I can pay for the caregiver's salary." Qiao Zhen looked at Lu Zheng earnestly. "It's my duty as a daughter."

"Okay." Lu Zheng agreed without thinking.

Qiao Zhen had a general understanding of caregiver wages. Compared to transferring to a better nursing home, hiring a caregiver would cost less. If she negotiated a few more projects and earned commissions, she could make enough for several months' worth of work.

So at most, I'd just pretend to take a day off during my annual leave and then find an excuse to go back to work.

While she was pondering this, Lu Zheng moved back to the other side of the sofa and started fiddling with his phone.

It seems that even without personally going out, there are still many things that need to be communicated with the team.

Then it was even less likely that she would know that the Fuzhou Hospital project had fallen into Ling Yiyi's hands, because she was afraid that Lu Zheng's "good intentions" would backfire.
