Chapter 50 You're hiding a secret from me

Qiao Zhen's hand trembled, and she accidentally deleted all the words in the chat box.

As she turned the doorknob, she forgot her annoyance, quickly locked the screen, tossed her phone aside, and pretended nothing had happened as she straightened her clothes.

She thought she was moving incredibly fast, but Lu Zheng happened to see her dropping her phone.

"Why did you stop?" Lu Zheng asked in a deep voice.

Hearing the man's displeased tone, Qiao Zhen touched her nose. "My friend just called me..."

"Male or female?"

"A woman."

"Important matters?"

"It's not that..." Qiao Zhen laughed it off, "We were just chatting casually."

"Oh." Lu Zheng sat on the sofa next to the massage bed, his long, straight legs casually draped over the footrest. "From now on, when we're together, unless it's something really important, you're not allowed to call or chat with anyone else. Not even women."

Qiao Zhen stared at the man, from his sharply defined jawline to his deep, cold eyes. Beneath this noble and arrogant demeanor, there was a hint of jealousy that seemed out of place.

He even gets jealous of women?

She found it amusing and casually replied, "Okay."

The masseuse came in and continued to massage Qiao Zhen.

Qiao Zhen asked Lu Zheng, "What about my mother's side..."

Lu Zheng said, "The test results are all normal, and the caregiver is staying by the aunt's side every step of the way."

Qiao Zhen breathed a sigh of relief. "I feel much better. Can we go back to the sanatorium in a bit?"

Lu Zheng glanced at him: "Let's finish this first."

Qiao Zhen glanced at Lu Zheng out of the corner of her eye; his expressionless face made his aura even more terrifying.

Suddenly jolted, he took her to the guest room and hired someone to massage her. Could it be for convenience...?

"Ms. Qiao, please relax," the massage therapist gently reminded her.

Qiao Zhen chuckled awkwardly, trying her best to calm herself down. She didn't look at Lu Zheng again and shifted her attention to her phone.

Yan Simiao sent another message, and her phone vibrated twice, but she didn't dare to look at it.

Lu Zheng has a sharp eye; she was afraid he would see her WeChat messages.

The massage, which lasted a total of half an hour, finally came to an end. Although her lower back was still aching slightly, Qiao Zhen felt a sense of rejuvenation and comfort. She thanked the masseuses repeatedly and saw them out.

Turning around, she saw Lu Zheng gazing at them with a deep, unsettling look.

"Thank you for caring about the employees," she quickly added.

Lu Zheng's expression improved slightly, and he pointed to the cardboard box he had brought back on the coffee table, "Afternoon tea."

"How about we go back to the sanatorium first?" Qiao was starving, but she was more worried about her mother.

"Finish eating before you go," Lu Zheng said, almost in a commanding tone.

Qiao Zhen could tell that the more polite she was, the angrier he became, so she simply opened the bag, which contained a delicate little cake and a pot of flower tea.

Desserts always bring joy.

Taking a bite of cake and pairing it with floral tea is incredibly comforting.

It should have been a leisurely afternoon tea time, but Qiao Zhen was worried about her mother and also wanted to get rid of Lu Zheng and contact Yan Simiao, so she quickly finished all her food and asked, "Can we go now?"

Lu Zheng, who had been looking at his phone, looked up when he heard this.

The next second, as if by magic, the man appeared in front of her in a flash.

Qiao Zhen's heart pounded like a drum; it couldn't really be as she suspected—

Was he driven mad by his animalistic instincts?

Suddenly, Lu Zheng smiled, a hint of warmth appearing in his eyes.

It looks great.

Qiao Zhen swallowed hard, hunched her shoulders, and moved back.

Lu Zheng, being tall, had long arms and legs, so even if Qiao Zhen retreated further, she couldn't escape his clutches.

Qiao Zhen was startled.

Before her was a clean white tissue. She didn't know when he had taken it, but he held it between his long, slender fingers and gently wiped her lips. Then she saw that the tissue was stained with a little cream and jam, and she blushed instantly.

It's hard to tell if it's because of a misunderstanding with Lu Zheng, or because his face is covered in cake.

She coughed twice, trying to ease the awkwardness.

Just then, my phone vibrated again.

Qiao Zhen pretended not to notice, while Lu Zheng's gaze swept across the light between the phone screen and the sofa.

Your phone is ringing.

"Huh?" Qiao Zhen blinked blankly, pretending to just realize, and glanced at her phone. "Advertising text message."

Actually, it was sent by Yan Simiao; the small notification box displayed on the phone screen was quite appealing.

"Holy crap, breaking news..."

Qiao Zhen felt an itch in her heart, "Excuse me, Mr. Lu, I need to go to the restroom."

She pointed to her face, indicating that she needed to tidy up her appearance.

Lu Zheng nodded.

Qiao Zhen grabbed her phone, tried to take steady steps, went to the bathroom, and locked the door.

She turned on the tap and listened to the sound of the water flowing before opening WeChat.

"She even competed with Lu Zheng in bidding, showing such a strong competitive spirit without considering what she had to offer to rival Lu Zheng. This actually made Young Master Cai quite critical of her. However, she was very clever. She used the excuse of her dress being torn, making a fool of herself in public, and playing the victim to win Young Master Cai's sympathy."

"Oh, now Young Master Cai regrets it and wants to buy back the Eternal Heart from Lu Zheng. He's looking everywhere for a chance to meet Lu Zheng. However, Lu Zheng mysteriously disappeared after the auction. No one has seen him. It's said that he rushed to another place overnight to find his fiancée."

"Zhenzhen, you're Lu Zheng's date. Do you know where he went after the auction?"

Qiao Zhen glanced at the closed bathroom door and scratched her cheek in embarrassment.

Feeling guilty for deceiving her friend, she replied, "I don't know where he went either."

The WeChat message that caught her attention the most was Yan Simiao's inquiry about Song Ruyi's many "boyfriends".

"Holy crap, breaking news! Song Ruyi's backup suitors heard that she's interested in Young Master Cai and even wants to marry him, and they're all incredibly jealous. They're going to confront this 'Song Shimei' (a notorious womanizer) and demand an explanation. Hahaha, this is hilarious! I really want to see a bunch of guys fighting over her, pulling hair, and even getting into a brawl!"

Qiao Zhen held her breath, keeping an eye on the movements outside the door, while sending her thoughts to Yan Simiao.

"Knock knock knock," the knocking sound rang out like thunder as she pressed send.

Qiao Zhen's phone almost fell into the toilet bowl.

"Zhenzhen, are you alright?"

"I...I'm fine, I'll be out in a bit." Qiao Zhen glanced at the message that had been successfully sent, added "Something came up for me, I'll contact you later," then turned off the vibration alert, splashed cold water on her face, and opened the bathroom door.

To everyone's surprise, Lu Zheng was right in front of them.

The towering man stood beneath the doorframe, his hands braced against it like a giant spider web, waiting for her, this little moth, to fall into the embrace of death.

She managed to stop herself, but her forehead still hit Lu Zheng's chin due to inertia.

With a muffled thud, the force was considerable.

"hiss--"

Both of them cried out in pain at the same time.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Lu." Qiao Zhen covered her forehead, and seeing that Lu Zheng didn't intend to move aside, she simply walked under his arm.

Lu Zheng reached out and pulled her into his arms, his long arm sweeping across her chest. "Zhenzhen, are you hiding something from me?"
