Chapter 12 Washing the Four Dogs' Hair

If I cook for myself, my three children will eat it.

Gu Lili carefully covered the pork cracklings with a bowl. The smell was just too good. If it attracted rats, then tomorrow's breakfast would be ruined.

After tidying up, Gu Lili asked Gu Erniu to help her bring the wheat she had bought.

To make wheat germinate, it needs to be soaked.

We needed to wash it before soaking, and since it wasn't dark yet, we decided to take Erniu to the stream to wash it.

Although the stream isn't far from home, it saves me the trouble of fetching water back and forth.

Gu Erniu was a little confused. Wasn't wheat used for grinding into flour?

Did my sister think it was dirty and wash it before drying it?

However, Gu Lili's subsequent actions puzzled Erniu even more.

After washing the wheat, my sister did not put it out to dry.

Instead, he told him to fill the bucket of wheat with water.

Gu Erniu really couldn't understand his sister's meaning, and he was also afraid of wasting the food.

He asked tremblingly, risking being shot in the head, "Sister, what are you doing?"

Although he asked cautiously, he still looked at Gu Lili as if she were an idiot.

Gu Lili couldn't stand that kind of look, and immediately bent her index finger.

I plan to beat him up before explaining.

This time, Gu Erniu was smarter. Seeing Gu Lili about to jump up, he quickly protected his head.

Gu Lili couldn't help but smile when she saw how cute her younger brother was.

However, while laughing, she flicked Gu Erniu on the forehead.

"Sister, why did you ambush me!" Gu Erniu was furious.

Although his sister's blows didn't hurt much, Gu Erniu still couldn't help but cry out.

If there were a mirror in front of Gu Erniu right now, he would definitely see a hint of coquetry on his face.

Gu Lili laughed and said, "Alright, alright, I won't tease you anymore. I have my reasons for doing this. You'll know what I'm going to do in about five days. In the next few days, you should study arithmetic with me. I'll teach you how to do business in the future."

This process is a bit complicated to explain, but once it's done, there's no need to explain it anymore; even a few children will understand.

Gu Erniu helped Gu Lili carry the wheat home with some skepticism.

Why the skepticism?

How could he not know his own sister's capabilities?

After all, they grew up together. How could he not know if his sister could do arithmetic?

She's doing business! If I remember correctly, this is also my sister's first time going to town.

Like him, the farthest my sister had ever traveled was to her maternal grandmother's house.

But this is my own sister, how can I not trust her?

Moreover, it seems that my sister has changed since she woke up yesterday.

She no longer seemed as timid as before, and exuded a kind of aura that she couldn't quite explain.

Although he's started to enjoy hitting himself, he still prefers his sister like this.

Back home, after setting the wheat out, which needed to be soaked for six hours, Gu Lili asked Gu Huanhuan to boil water.

From then on, the four of them had to wash up before going to sleep every day.

She decided to take out the shampoo and let the two brothers use it today.

Although the two of them rubbed their necks until they were white yesterday, their hair was still excessively oily.

"Sister, what is this?" Gu Erniu asked curiously, staring at the shampoo.

Gu Lili answered without batting an eye, "I bought this in town today. It's for washing my hair. It's a big jar for one cent."

Anyway, she went to town today, so it's easier to explain.

Worried that the two brothers wouldn't know how to use it, Gu Lili decided to help them wash it.

Gu Erniu felt a little embarrassed, since his sister was washing his hair, so he let Gu Sigou wash it first.

Gu Lili washed Gu Sigou four times before the water became clear.

When it was Gu Erniu's turn, he refused to let Gu Lili help him no matter what.

Gu Lili didn't force him and let him go on his own.

Gu Lili carefully dried Gu Siniu's hair with a dry cloth, and Gu Sigou looked quite pleased.

"Sister, it seems like my head isn't itchy anymore after using this shampoo. It feels so comfortable, and I feel so much lighter," Gu Sigou said happily.

Gu Lili chuckled, "Then I'll wash you often from now on, okay?"

"Okay, okay." Gu Sigou nodded repeatedly.

Gu Huanhuan, who was standing to the side, was a little puzzled. Why did she also have that same feeling as Si Gou when her sister washed her hair last night?

But didn't my sister just buy this today?

Moreover, it seems that my and my sister's hair became smooth and silky yesterday.

After thinking about it for a long time without finding a solution, Gu Huanhuan simply stopped thinking about it.

After they finished washing up, it was almost dark.

Gu Lili was too tired today, so she didn't teach Gu Erniu arithmetic.

Having walked so far, and having not slept well last night, I lay down on the bed and quickly fell into a deep sleep.

Because she slept very well that night, Gu Lili woke up as soon as Gu Huanhuan moved beside her.

She got up along with the other children.

"Sister, you should sleep a little longer. I'll make breakfast," Gu Huanhuan said sensibly.

Gu Lili smiled and said, "No need, I've slept well too. Let's cook together."

The two sisters cooked, while the two brothers swept the yard and chopped firewood.

As soon as Gu Huanhuan entered the kitchen, she prepared to add water to the pot from yesterday's lard rendering process, thinking that the wild vegetable porridge with oil and water would definitely be especially fragrant.

Add some salt that my sister bought yesterday, and it will definitely be a delicacy.

Gu Lili quickly came over to stop Gu Huanhuan's actions, "Huanhuan, don't add water yet. Go and wash the shepherd's purse for me and bring it over. We're not eating wild vegetable porridge today."

To be honest, she was really tired of eating this wild vegetable porridge.

If she weren't hungry, she would secretly buy a few meat buns from the trading system and eat them; she really couldn't stand this.

She knew that the children would drink water to fill their stomachs when they were hungry.

If she weren't afraid of being seen as a monster by her younger siblings, she would have loved to take out all the good stuff in the system and let them eat their fill.

So today, she decided to improve the meals and make sure the children were well-fed.

Gu Huanhuan obediently went to wash the vegetables, and Gu Lili also took out a basin. Today, she was going to make a wild vegetable pancake that could fill their stomachs.

She scooped out two bowls of coarse noodles, but it seemed a bit little, so she scooped out another bowl and mixed it with water to form a dough for later use.

I took out yesterday's oil residue, scooped out half of it, chopped it up with a knife, and put it in a bowl.

By this time, Gu Huanhuan had also finished washing the shepherd's purse.

Gu Lili chopped the shepherd's purse, added some salt and pork cracklings, and mixed them together.

The shepherd's purse was supposed to be blanched, but we decided against it because we were afraid the children would think we were wasting the oil in the pot.

Gu Lili was very skillful, and soon, round pancakes took shape in her hands.
