Chapter Sixty-Six: The Gossipy Sweeping Aunt

Xu Moran took a sip of tea, showing no interest in what the cleaning lady was saying.

It wasn't that she looked down on the cleaning lady because the person she was talking to was the cleaning lady, so she didn't want to talk to her. It was just that the cleaning lady was too talkative and liked to exaggerate, so what she said wasn't very credible.

Xu Moran's lack of interest did not dampen the cleaning lady's enthusiasm for gossiping. She simply stopped sweeping for the time being, held the broom, stood next to Xu Moran, and continued her unfinished gossip.

"Officer Xu." The cleaning lady's expression was quite animated; if one had to describe it, "exuberant" would be the perfect word. "Do you know Grandpa Wang, the gatekeeper at our police station?"

Xu Moran took another sip of tea. "I know."

It would be impolite to ignore the cleaning lady who was so enthusiastic. As long as it doesn't involve exaggeration or spreading rumors, and the statement is indeed true, Xu Moran will still respond.

Seeing Xu Moran respond to her, the cleaning lady became even more enthusiastic, "Officer Xu, let me tell you, last night Grandpa Wang was molested. It's said that if he hadn't shouted quickly and loudly, and been heard by Officer Zhao and the others on duty, Grandpa Wang might have been raped. Hmm, to ruin one's reputation in old age, it's terrifying to even think about. If I were Grandpa Wang, and my reputation was ruined in my old age, I would rather bite my tongue and commit suicide."

Xu Moran fell silent. Could it be that she remembered it wrong?

Otherwise, how could she remember that the cleaning lady talking to her was the same Mr. Wang who had been pursuing the doorman just half a month ago?

In the end, Mr. Wang refused the cleaning lady's offer because he worked as a security guard at the police station, while the cleaning lady was responsible for cleaning the police station; their jobs were quite different.

How could the cleaning lady suddenly talk about Grandpa Wang like this? Could it be because her love was rejected, leading to hatred?

The cleaning lady was still gossiping, saying that someone would be interested in someone as old as Mr. Wang. No, it wasn't Mr. Wang himself who was interested, but rather the Porsche that Mr. Wang's son had bought for him recently.

The police station gatekeeper drives a Porsche to work; he's not some cleaning lady who says grapes are sour just because she can't get the grapes.

During the period when the security guard, Grandpa Wang, drove his Porsche to work, the number of people coming to the police station to report cases increased significantly. There were all sorts of middle-aged women, and quite a few old men as well.

The cases they reported to the police station were all sorts of strange things, from suspecting that their own cockroaches had run to the neighbor's to the more serious ones like an old lady's floral underwear that had disappeared from her balcony.

No matter how bizarre the cases were, they all had one thing in common: the people who reported the cases didn't rush to the police station to file a report, but instead chose to chat with the gatekeeper and Mr. Wang.

During that period, was there anyone more popular than the gatekeeper, Mr. Wang, in the B City Police Department?

There is only one answer: no.

Seeing that Mr. Wang's popularity was only increasing and not decreasing, and that he had become a confidant for many middle-aged women and some men to confide in, he was even given the title of "Confidant Grandpa". Finally, the "Confidant Grandpa" alarmed the police chief of B City.

He personally invited Grandpa Wang to the police station office, poured him a cup of newly harvested tea, and kindly advised him, "Grandpa Wang, please don't drive your Porsche to work anymore."

Otherwise, it would put him in a very difficult position as the police chief of B City.

The crowd outside didn't know that the Porsche Mr. Wang drove was a gift from his son. They probably thought that working at the police station was a very lucrative job. Otherwise, why would even a gatekeeper, a temporary worker, drive a Porsche to work?

Mr. Wang listened to the bureau chief. After being persuaded by the bureau chief, he immediately promised in the bureau chief's office that he would no longer drive a Porsche to work.

The next day, when Mr. Wang came to work at the police station, he was indeed not driving a Porsche, but a helicopter was circling above the police station.

Even though B City is an international metropolis with all kinds of luxury cars and mansions, it's still rare to see a mode of transportation like a helicopter, which is only owned by the extremely wealthy.

Soon, the helicopter hovering above the police station attracted a large crowd of onlookers.

That day, the police chief happened to be there. He heard a commotion outside, so he called his assistant to ask what was going on. He then learned that the security guard, Grandpa Wang, who had promised him he wouldn't drive his Porsche to work anymore, had actually come to work by helicopter that day.

The police chief of City B choked on his words and nearly fainted.

Ultimately, because the police station was located in the center of B City and there was simply no place for the helicopter to land, the helicopter carrying Grandpa Wang circled the police station countless times before flying back.

After Mr. Wang realized that helicopters were not suitable for his commute, he chose a BMW instead.

A police officer asked Mr. Wang why he was driving a BMW.

The straightforward Mr. Wang gave the policeman the answer: it was the cheapest, most inconspicuous car in his garage, parked in a corner, covered in dust, and still unoccupied.

Because of Mr. Wang, a temporary worker at the police station, who used all sorts of flashy vehicles to commute to get off work, the disciplinary committee above began investigating the director of the B City Police Department.

This investigation uncovered a major problem.

The police chief of City B was not only corrupt and accepted bribes, but also had long-term adulterous relationships with more than one woman. Even more outrageous, he even preyed on female prisoners.

These days, it's not uncommon to see people having sex in cars, on horses, on boats, or even on airplanes. But to hear about sex in a prison is something I've never heard of before.
