Sun Xingchao was clearly taken aback; he hadn't expected Xu Moran to insist on going to X City.
Even with his quick reflexes, he didn't know how to respond. If he continued, Xu Moran would definitely start to suspect the real reason why he changed his mind at the last minute.
“Looks like I was overthinking it.” Sun Xingchao sighed, as if he had made up his mind. He gently patted the table with both hands and said, “Since you, Xiao Xu, are so confident and ambitious, I should support you. But there’s one thing I want to emphasize: just do your best. After all, X City is not like B City.”
Xu Moran nodded. "Captain Sun, don't worry, I'll be careful."
Sun Xingchao had something else to say: "There's nothing much to do this afternoon, so you can go back and prepare your things for tomorrow's trip to X City."
Xu Moran hummed in agreement. She didn't know why, maybe it was just her imagination, but now whenever she saw Sun Xingchao, she easily thought that he liked men. As for the girl that the cleaning lady took with her phone last time, she was probably a girl he liked when his sexual orientation was normal.
Could it be that being dumped by other girls caused him psychological problems, leading him to desperately start liking men?
It's possible, but not necessarily, because it's all based on what the cleaning lady said; she didn't see or hear anything herself.

The first sentence was, "Captain Sun, I've never heard you mention your girlfriend before. Is she in X City?"

Sun Xingchao didn't know why Xu Moran suddenly cared about his girlfriend, and asked in a way that confirmed he had one. Just as he was about to decline her offer, he caught a glimpse of a head appearing at the office door. It was the cleaning lady.
The cleaning lady at the B City Police Department was so famous that Sun Xingchao had heard of her even when he was still in X City.
A cleaning lady managed to bring down a bureau chief—she's practically a god! The current bureau chief of B City treats her with exceptional politeness, afraid of offending this "hero" who stepped in to help those in need.
A sudden realization dawned on Sun Xingchao, and he immediately understood why Xu Moran had mentioned his girlfriend, whose whereabouts were still unknown. When Xiao Anhe called him, he introduced himself directly. Without thinking too much, he answered the call in his office, where the cleaning lady was wiping his table at the time.

Presumably, the cleaning lady overheard that a man was calling him and then told Xu Moran that the reason he was still unmarried at his age, and didn't even have a girlfriend, was because he liked men.
While admiring the cleaning lady's extraordinary imagination, he also appreciated Xu Moran's questioning skills.
This was a reminder to him, considering he was her captain, that men should like women, as that is in accordance with the laws of nature.
He withdrew his gaze from the doorway, pretending not to know that the cleaning lady was eavesdropping, and smiled at Xu Moran, "No need, I don't have a girlfriend yet."
Upon hearing Sun Xingchao's words, Xu Moran's heart skipped a beat. What did he mean by that? Was he indirectly admitting that he didn't like women?
Good heavens, I never imagined that Sun Xingchao, who looks so normal, would actually dislike women.
She swallowed hard, her clear, bright eyes fixed on Sun Xingchao. "Captain Sun, do you have a boyfriend?"
Sun Xingchao was stunned again. He didn't expect Xu Moran to ask him if he had a boyfriend. He was speechless.
He looked at Xu Moran very seriously and told her very seriously, "I don't have a boyfriend either."
Xu Moran secretly breathed a sigh of relief. "Captain Sun, I'll go out first."
She thought to herself, "She has neither a girlfriend nor a boyfriend. It seems the cleaning lady is overthinking things and misleading me."
Just as Sun Xingchao picked up his teacup, Xu Moran, who had already stepped out of the office, turned back to him and said, "Captain Sun, there are many ways to find a girlfriend now. If you really don't trust those matchmaking websites, you can go to People's Square on Saturdays and Sundays. There are matchmaking corners there every Saturday and Sunday. Maybe you can find your soulmate."
After saying that, Xu Moran felt that she had been meddling a bit in the matchmaking, but she didn't regret what she had said. After all, Sun Xingchao was her captain. It would be such a pity if a man like him really fell in love with someone other than a woman.
