Punishment for being late

Punishment for being late

The female teacher let out a low, irritated chuckle from her throat, and the scarlet light behind her lenses flickered.

The air in the classroom was as thick as glue.

Strangely, the female teacher did not respond to the female student, but instead walked towards the podium.

Gao Meng, Li Mu, and Zhao Sha froze in their seats, cold sweat running down their foreheads.

Before I could even feel the relief of surviving the disaster, I was strangled by a deeper fear.

Li Mu clenched his fists tightly, digging his nails into his palms, using the pain to force himself to think.

He just heard Feng Tianning's voice transmission, but...

The rules on the table say that they cannot resist the teacher. If they act rashly, will they be attacked by these evil spirits?

Just in case, they'd better hold back for now.

The female teacher didn't look at the three newcomers anymore. Instead, she used the sharp pointer to tap the edge of the podium, "da, da, da". Her slender neck slowly turned, scanning all the "students" below the stage.

Every knock felt like knocking directly on a living person's heart.

In this suffocating silence, a voice suddenly appeared:

“Knock, knock, knock.”

There were three knocks on the front door of the classroom, which was out of place with the atmosphere of this classroom.

The female teacher suddenly stopped banging on the podium.

Her entire body was in a state of stagnation for an extremely short period of time.

Then, she turned around at a speed so fast that it left an afterimage, facing the front door, lowering her head slightly, showing a strange... respectful posture.

All the smiling students in the audience also slightly narrowed their grinning mouths, becoming less filled with naked malice.

It's more like a programmed, stereotyped smile.

The doorknob turned silently.

The door opened.

A man stood at the door.

He looked to be about forty years old, wearing a perfectly fitting dark blue Mao suit, and his hair was combed sleekly without a single hair out of place.

He wore a pair of gold-rimmed glasses, and his eyes were long and narrow behind the lenses.

He had a thin face, thin lips, tightly pursed, and held a dark brown hardcover notebook in his hand.

His appearance did not bring any warmth, but instead caused the temperature in the classroom to drop several degrees.

His gaze was like a searchlight, slowly sweeping across the entire classroom, lingering for a moment on the stiff smiling faces of every "student".

Finally, it fell on the three newcomers in the back row who were out of tune with the surrounding environment and exuded the breath of fear and the living.

His brows furrowed slightly, as if he had seen some defective product that did not meet the regulations.

"Teacher Zhang,"

He spoke, his voice steady and clear, without any fluctuations in tone.

"Why would a student appear here in such an indecent manner during class time?"

He was referring to the disheveled appearance of Gao Meng and the other two and their obvious lateness.

The female teacher's neck seemed to shrink again, and her shrill voice was filled with a subtle hint of flattery and nervousness:

"Director, they're... late. I was just about to... deal with it."

Director? The three newcomers' hearts sank.

The head teacher nodded slightly and returned his gaze to Gao Meng and the other two. The cold scrutiny made the three of them feel very uncomfortable and almost trembled uncontrollably.

"be late."

The head teacher repeated the word, as if savoring something.

"I remember checking the class rosters and attendance records this morning. Class 1801 is fully staffed, and no one has requested leave."

He opened the hardcover notebook in his hand and ran a pale, slender finger across a page.

"Well, the three of you."

His gaze dissected the three people like a scalpel.

"Who is it? Where are you from? Why are you... 'late' to my class?"

His tone remained steady, but every word carried a tremendous, suffocating pressure.

It was not the crazy, malicious oppression of the female teacher, but a tone of talking to the dead.

“We…we…”

Gao Meng opened his mouth, but his throat was so dry that he couldn't make a complete sound.

Li Mu forced himself to look up and meet those emotionless eyes:

"Teacher, we are...lost. We walked in here accidentally."

"get lost?"

The head teacher narrowed his eyes behind his gold-rimmed glasses, and a flash of light flashed across his eyes.

"Yucai Middle School's management regulations clearly stipulate that all students must remain in their designated classrooms during class and are not allowed to wander around unless under special circumstances. Your excuse of 'getting lost' does not comply with the regulations."

He closed the notebook with a soft snap.

"Absent from regular classes without permission and without reason, and wandering around the teaching area without reason during class time...are considered serious violations according to the Yucai Middle School Student Code of Conduct."

His voice was not loud, but it hit the three people's hearts like a hammer.

"Serious offenders must immediately go to the Academic Affairs Office, make a face-to-face confession to the principal, and receive a notice of appropriate punishment."

headmaster? !

Go to the principal to apologize?!

A chill rushed from the tail vertebrae of the three people to the top of their heads.

Just this class teacher alone is enough to make people feel suffocated, so what kind of terrifying existence is that so-called "principal"?

"No…we are not…"

Zhao Sha subconsciously wanted to deny it.

The head teacher's eyes suddenly became sharp, like a cold needle:

"No? Not what? Not my students? Then what are you? Intruders?"

As soon as he finished speaking, the atmosphere in the classroom changed instantly.

Teacher Zhang at the podium suddenly raised his head, and the metal pointer in his hand began to tremble slightly.

The smiles on the faces of the thirty-six students below the stage disappeared instantly, and they all grinned from ear to ear again, revealing their dense fangs.

The dark, empty eye sockets all "stared" at the three of them.

The murderous intent surged from all directions like a tide, tightly wrapping around them, as if it was going to tear them apart and devour them in the next second.

Feng Tianning, hidden in the air, frowned slightly.

Qin Guan's thoughts came: "Grandma, should we take action?"

Feng Tianning responded calmly: "Let them go."

Li Mu's mind raced, and he suddenly shouted:

"We are students from Class 1801! We are late! We are willing to go to the principal to apologize!"

This sentence is like a switch.

The red light behind Teacher Zhang's glasses faded, the corners of his grinning mouth lowered, and he returned to his respectful look of waiting for instructions.

The students also turned back into their puppet appearance with stereotyped smiles.

The cold sharpness on the head teacher's face disappeared, and returned to that calm expression, as if everything just now was just an illusion.

He nodded slightly, as if he was satisfied with Li Mu's attitude of "admitting his mistake".

"Admitting mistakes is the first step to correcting them." He pushed his gold-rimmed glasses with his pale fingers.

"Now, go to the Academic Affairs Office immediately. The principal... should be waiting for you."
