As consciousness shifted, countless hazy memories flashed before my eyes, mostly unchanging deep blue seawater, a deep-sea world where brilliance and darkness intertwined, and countless swimming schools of fish.
Fragments of light shone down from above, occasionally brushing past people's reflections. The fish scattered in panic, or were unfortunately caught, but this was just the natural cycle.
A beautiful creature with a long tail and winged ears roams the depths of the nearshore waters, a distant memory left behind by time. Occasionally, when it stops near the reefs, it will sing a beautiful song. The water ripples with the movement of its long tail, but all of this suddenly vanishes at some point.
Then came a colossal being whose roar shook the entire sea, stirring up storms and tides. A thousand-legged behemoth fought it, and countless whirlpools shattered everything around it, staining it crimson and inky black, before finally disappearing without a trace.
Ultimately, all these hazy memories were frozen in one place. Accompanied by the angry surging of the sea, the remains of a beast, exuding wisps of gray-black aura, were thrown down. Under the full moonlight, they reflected a face half-covered in shadow, expressionless.
This should be the most vivid memory deep within the consciousness of this core spirit.
It felt like it was actually happening right in front of me, giving me goosebumps.
Suppressing the chilling urge to turn away, I carefully observed that face.
Like a falcon or a ghost, its face was gaunt with high cheekbones and deeply sunken eye sockets, revealing pale eyeballs that seemed about to bulge out. Its slender, almost fragile body possessed immense strength, effortlessly lifting a massive corpse far heavier than itself and tossing it casually into the water.
The garment appeared to be a long, almost black robe that concealed the slender figure. It was devoid of any decorations or embellishments, and given that it was backlit in my memory, I couldn't expect to glean any additional information from it.
However, I instinctively sensed a familiar aura emanating from the abandoned corpses. But this wasn't because the wounds on those monster carcasses were remnants from their mutual attacks; rather, it was from the overflowing gray-black aura that I detected a sense of foreboding.
It felt just like when I fought that unexpected intruder before.
I instinctively made a judgment: Could it be that those self-proclaimed followers of the stars are using monsters to experiment on how to safely and effectively control the power of the abyss? There's even that near-successful case from before!
This is an extremely terrifying speculation.
If this is indeed the case, it is difficult to predict how much of a horrific storm that cult, whose true purpose is unclear but which has so far committed numerous acts of terror, will unleash in the days to come. The scope and scale of the destruction it will cause are almost unimaginable.
This has become a predictable disaster.
Just thinking about it made my back instantly soaked with sweat.
