Chapter 102 Memory Synchronization

With its face featuring subtle facial features, long, fin-like ears spread open angrily. It swung its long tail and quickly leaped onto the surface of the water, raising its hand to unleash a sharp stream of water carrying a large amount of magic power.

Unfortunately, all of this was in vain.

The jet of water was only as thin as a hair, and its concentrated power dissipated halfway, failing to even cross the shore. Even if one moved forward and stepped into the water, the power of the thin stream was far from enough to wet one's clothes, and even the usual reactive defensive barrier was not triggered.

Looking down at the little guy who had lost his support and fallen into the water, only able to angrily slap the water with his long tail, I couldn't help but shake my head.

I don't know how such an idiot could appear, even though he's on someone else's home turf, and still choose to fight a disadvantageous battle against the ruler of the Little Garden. The unnamed intruder from before did cause trouble, but that was more due to the Abyss's corrosive power over other things, not just him.

I tried to communicate with the core spirit.

The initial plan was to summon elements for synchronization, using this as a springboard to explore the information recorded within the hazy consciousness. This is another reason why I preserved some of the magical water. But unexpectedly, the synchronization was completed, and before the springboard could even be constructed, an impatient call came from the other side.

Humans!

A voice as delicate as a baby's, or as clear as flowing water, resonated loudly and intensely in the senses.

Not only have you destroyed my habitat and disturbed my hibernation, but why have you also captured and imprisoned me! Is it just to demonstrate your own greatness?!

Unexpected remarks.

Hikari was called away by Yao and couldn't come along. Even though she was a little doubtful that she had misheard, she had no one to interact with to verify her understanding. In addition, the clear voice in front of her was still babbling on and on. So she seized the opportunity to focus her attention on the current conversation.

"These are two baseless accusations."

I first silenced the noisy core spirit, giving me a chance to interject: "The first thing to note is that I have absolutely no idea what you are. I only know that you suddenly appeared on the beach and made attempts to flood the coast and the city. So I simply took necessary countermeasures."

"Secondly, bringing you here isn't about showing off anything, but simply to avert an impending disaster." It's also partly an attempt to tame the other party.

As mentioned before, this helps maintain the overall structure of the sandbox, making it more stable.

Of course, this part cannot be discussed directly at the moment.

However, partial truth is not entirely the same as a lie.

However, the core spirit didn't entirely accept this explanation. Struggling fiercely, and seeing that the summoned water gun was ineffective, it used its long tail to repeatedly slap my ankles, which were submerged in the water, and once again uttered an angry statement:

[You've clearly dumped massive amounts of waste and rotting remains of marine life into the depths of the ocean! Those things have sunk to the bottom, constantly spreading disgusting substances through the water cycle. Even with my relentless efforts to purify them, many deep-sea inhabitants have been infected and are no longer as peaceful as they once were!]

The accusations remain baffling.

Only after repeated questioning did I learn that the core spirit I captured claimed to be a fragment of the ocean's will, something that shouldn't exist, but was accidentally created after being triggered by an abnormal event. Or, to put it another way, it was a self-purifying system that evolved to remove the source of pollution to the ocean. However, this matter was far too troublesome. Tracing the ocean's subconscious back to its source, I discovered that it was caused by the remains of several creatures that had been deliberately sunk, thus incurring the wrath of the humans living on that shore.

"What kind of corpse was it?" That was what I was more concerned about.

[Hmph! Don't you people know what you've been doing?]

The Core Spirit made an unwarranted criticism, which seems to be due to its very nature.

I don't know what kind of creature's corpses they were, but they were all bubbling out black smoke with incredibly corrosive properties! The surrounding sea area is completely polluted!

It sounds like it's the result of the abyss's attributes, but it's just hearsay and can't be taken seriously.

If we want to know the details, after much thought, we might still have to go back to the original method.

To acquire all of another person's knowledge, one must first be certain that the other person is subordinate to oneself, unilaterally achieve spiritual harmony with each other, and then unilaterally extract and confirm memories from them.

It's like viewing life as a book to be read.

With a snap of its fingers, amidst the surprised exclamation of the core spirit, it caused the water surrounding the miniature garden to bind its long tail and arms. It then summoned a ball of magical water that was stored not far away, and after unfolding a magic circle that could just cover the size of an outstretched palm, it controlled its senses to evenly cover and penetrate deep, and then bridged with the core spirit.

I closed my eyes and prepared myself for synchronization once again.

Although I had conducted preliminary experiments in my mind beforehand, this was the first time I had tried to use this method to explore the inner workings of an existence.

A mixture of trepidation and vigilance mingled within me. Hoping that the mental defenses I had erected would act as a filter and a barrier, I took another deep breath and ventured deeper into the sea-blue ball of light that appeared before me.

In an instant, a sense of oppression and suffocation, as if I had plunged deep beneath the surface of the sea, came over me, but then, as if I had adapted, it vanished quickly like an illusion.
