Chapter 103 Construction

Yao continued his narration: "There is a saying that the fire demon beast has a human form, its whole body is covered in eternal flames, it can ignite fire and extinguish fire, it leaves scorched marks when it moves on the ground, and when it roars, it spews hot sparks from its mouth. Its name is Ifrit, its very existence brings endless light and heat, burning the sky and the earth, only slightly subsiding during the night."

"The second theory is that the fire demon beast is a lizard-like creature born from fire. It does not have the enormous size of a dragon, but its vitality is extremely strong. It can be extinguished as long as a spark remains, and it can travel thousands of miles away in an instant. Its name is Salamander, and it is born from fire, thus it is immortal."

"And finally, similar to the second version, the monster born from the fire has the shape of a huge bird, with long tail feathers burning with crimson flames. It perches on the top of tall trees, with a loud cry. After being coated with myrrh, it can be reborn from the fire. Its name is Phoenix, a being that can burn itself but not die, and hangs high in the sky during the day."

In summary, those who worship fire believe that fire possesses the quality of never going out, and therefore yearn for and pray to be cleansed and reborn in fire after death.

Although it is something that is difficult to understand in this area, after considering the local environment and climate, it does not seem like an incomprehensible situation.

Turning a few pages of the book in my hand, the corresponding pictures and text appeared on the page.

Although the images depicted are mostly imagined, it is unknown how the artist managed to do so. Every stroke and line reveals a vivid and realistic texture, as if one can truly feel the intense heat through the paper.

"Don't feel it; the principle behind it is simply that the artist subconsciously casts a spell while painting."

I immediately thought of a similar case: "Is it Miss [Aisha]'s bloodline?"

"It's hard to say. The relevant records were forcibly burned or destroyed, but there's a very high probability that they were." Yao paused. "There are also rumors and records about three other major categories of magical beasts in the related series. They may be unofficial histories or official records, but they can be regarded as a training method, so they were all handed over to that girl."

As long as it can be used for something meaningful, I have no objection. If there's any protest, the actual owner of the library should come over and handle it.

The books in the library are said to be all-encompassing, but in other words, they are a mixed bag. Most of them are not needed at the moment, and it takes a lot of effort to find and use specific books.

Since there seemed to be nothing that needed help, and I had no motivation to play the game for the time being, I listlessly ate a late lunch and decided not to disturb Yao's progress any further. Instead, I turned around and plunged into the alchemy lab that had been sitting idle for a long time.

Although only half a month has passed, the deadline for completing and presenting my graduation project is fast approaching. I'm still stuck on the basics and key points. I can't just go on stage and start by bowing at a right angle and saying something like, "My coursework isn't finished yet. Can you give me some more time?"

At that point, I'll definitely be torn apart by my mentor and dean, who have always vouched for my freedom.

However, the current stock of experimental materials is quite sufficient, so it's not like we can't squander them.

The various ores and materials I gathered from the laboratory beneath Adrian's Stargazing Tower were distributed to Lena and the Flower Fairy in small quantities to improve the defenses of the Little Garden. I also gave most of the mithril and opal commonly used in magical tools to my family's workshop, and the rubies, blue crystals, and emeralds I received in exchange were exactly the materials I needed. In addition, Gray gave me a large basket of magic stones for free and suggested asking for some extra scraps... I'd never fought such a wealthy battle before.

Gem casting is a common method chosen by lesser mages who lack magic power and control; it's expensive, but saves time and effort.

Once the raw materials are selected in advance and the necessary spell incantations are inscribed in the reserved spaces, the activation can be performed simply by inputting magic power, just like using magic stones or elemental stones. This is far more efficient than painstakingly training on one's own. Even many higher-ranking mages are accustomed to using this method to save casting time at crucial moments or to disrupt the enemy's movements, achieving a surprise effect.

After all, the internal battles between mages are mostly determined by the quantity and quality of spells cast in a short period of time. There are few cases of stalemate. Most of the time, when the ranks and calculation abilities of the mages are similar, they get stuck in a state of continuous casting and counter-casting.

The situation looked like two people standing dumbfounded on opposite sides, glaring at each other, their magic surging and chanting continuously... and then nothing else happened.

It's either awkward or hilarious.

It would be more satisfying to just grab a brick and smash it over someone's head.

In this situation, magical tools and gem casting usually come into play. Silent casting and omitting incantations are advanced techniques, so it's better to just develop a quick tongue and deliver a fast-paced divine incantation.

While relying on external objects for a long time can easily lead to bad habits, those who have the money to squander these engraved gemstones obviously wouldn't care too much about such things.

The magic stone fragments are crushed into powder again, mixed with specific materials to form the required magic stone solution, poured into the corresponding engraved spell groove, injected with an appropriate amount of magic power, and then carefully placed aside to air dry. The simple spell gem is now complete.

I learned this trick by secretly following an alchemy course; otherwise, mastering the key techniques would be quite challenging if I had to rely solely on self-study.
