Chapter 123 The Roads Are Connected

Even if it fails to kill the enemy, it serves as a powerful deterrent. If the true principle is not grasped in a brief moment, there's no need to worry about being countered.

Subtle time differences can determine how the scales tip in victory or defeat. This is true not only for martial artists but even more so for mages.

However, further improvements are still needed.

I don't have any specific ideas about this yet; I can only experiment with them based on my vague thoughts later.

"Hmm, but if the little idiot sees this, he'll worry..."

Just as he was about to leave, he hesitated before touching the doorknob, realizing that the burns on his hands were too horrifying. After thinking for a few seconds, he could only close his eyes and let the shattered wind peel away the charred flesh from the outer shell, then pour [Liquid Life] on it.

It truly lives up to its reputation as a high-value alchemical potion. Despite the slight stinging sensation, after a few wisps of white smoke rose, the previously charred palm returned to its original state. Although it was slightly whitish, the difference was barely noticeable unless one looked closely.

Stepping out of the room, I walked along the empty corridor toward the front door.

It seems that it snowed on the mountain last night, as snowflakes piled up to knee-deep on the open ground outside the small building. Shenxue, unusually early in the morning, wasn't carrying her beloved swords; instead, she was dressed in a plain white outfit, busily moving back and forth with a wooden-handled snow cart.

"You're up?"

She raised an eyebrow and glanced at me, then quickly pushed the clippers and steadily moved to the other side.

She pushed the foot-thick snow as if it were nothing, piling it up from behind in layers, eventually tilting it to the sides, clearing a patch of frozen ground in the very center. This straight clearing stretched from the doorway of the hut all the way to the edge of the cliff, the snow piled up on both sides remaining perfectly intact, not an inch more or less.

His relaxed demeanor showed no signs of having suffered any internal injuries.

"I just woke up, so I came to take a look."

As I slowly approached, I saw her standing there, slightly out of breath, casually wiping the sweat from her forehead with her forearm, clutching the cuff of her sleeve.

"Would you like to try it too?" Her icy blue eyes looked at me, and she offered me the clippers with her left hand.

I hesitated for a moment, but judging from Shen Xue's appearance just now, it probably didn't take too much effort.

But this delusion was quickly shattered. Not to mention how difficult it is to push through thick, compacted snow, even the method of pushing snow requires a certain amount of force and angle.

Too little force and you won't touch the bottom; too much force and you'll hit the hard ice surface and get a shock, making it difficult to apply force—I only realized belatedly that the thin, transparent layer of ice was spread by the magic of deep snow seeping into the ground. In her words, it was like wrapping one's own aura in a sword and wielding it, which was also a method of cultivation.

"I don't know how to use magic; that's something you mages need to study in detail."

Miyuki herself said, "I just need to understand how to wield the blade in my hand more efficiently so that it can be faster and sharper."

As she spoke, she waved her right hand forward.

In the blink of an eye, before my senses could warn me, a transparent, blue-glowing arc blade flew out of my hand, cutting through the thin, frosty air. It sped past me and exploded into a blue and white ice flower amidst the distant snow, eliciting chaotic neighing from the Pegasus in the distance.

Turning his head again to look at her right hand that had swung the curved blade, he saw a thin layer of magic wrapped around her skin, giving it an icy blue hue, yet it flickered like flames, as if it were burning, condensing into clusters of tiny ice crystals around her.

If I didn't know that Miyuki was just a swordsman focused on practicing her sword, I would have really thought that she had also learned some crude spellcasting skills from somewhere.

"What's going on? What have you learned this time?"

I asked curiously, and when she approached me, I promptly abandoned the tools in my hand.

She took it from him, and after exchanging places, Miyuki resumed her work, explaining, "It's a skill I've been practicing since the sword fighting tournament, and it's also the reason I came to the mountains alone to study."

"The Northern Sword Saint, who taught me swordsmanship for a while, once told me that the most important difference between an ordinary swordsman and a swordsman who can be respected by everyone is whether he can release the aura contained within his body."

"It's not just about simply wrapping it around the sword's edge; it's about being invincible even without a weapon in hand. Only then can one be considered to have successfully ascended to the Saint rank."

I nodded thoughtfully and commented, "It sounds like you're going to be doing a job similar to that of a mage."

“Perhaps? I don’t know. But I know it’s feasible to work in this direction.” She glanced at me, pushed down hard, and without any apparent effort, easily shoveled away the thick, dense snowdrift. “Isn’t there a saying that all roads eventually lead to the same destination?”

"It's like a warrior who has reached the end of his rope can wield his blade and summon a storm, or a mage can withstand an attack powerful enough to sink a continent with his own strength. Of course, perhaps the most important thing in all of these is one's own willpower to reach a certain destination?"

“Willpower…you’re right.”

Masters prefer to call it control, but the core of it is the same.

If you can't even reach a clear conclusion in your own mind, how can you be sure that the result you arrive at is what you want?

I looked around at the snow, and another idea came to mind.

Just as Miyuki is more accustomed to using her body and swordsmanship, I am more accustomed to using magic and spells to solve problems.

There's no need to measure others' strengths by your own weaknesses, or even forget your own strengths.
