Okay, enough with the small talk. I bet you're all getting impatient by now.
As you can see, thanks to my involvement, a special position has been created for me in this final exhibition hall. Yes, as I just said, I am your navigator, and I will guide you to the conclusion of this stage play.
"I can't believe your words." The sword demon's gaze was filled with blatant killing intent as he stared at the demon. "Demons are all good at deception and love to manipulate people's hearts."
Being suspicious can be a good thing, but excessive suspicion can easily lead to problems, especially if you lack a sharp mind.
Now, please listen quietly and patiently to my explanation.
With his long, slender index finger held to his lips, [Mephisto] blinked his right eye.
No other aura appeared.
Sword Demon seemed to want to say something more, but in the end he only opened his mouth without making a sound. Instead, he clutched his throat in pain and bent over.
It was as if the air that helped propagate his voice disappeared from in front of him when he spoke.
The other witnesses who wanted to speak also instinctively shut their mouths, only able to hear their own pounding hearts and the sound of blood flowing through their veins.
Sheng came closer again and placed his hand on my back.
[Very good, it seems you all understand the importance of listening.]
What I want to say is also very simple. I know what you are asking for, and I know your purpose. I can even tell you in advance that as long as you pass this test successfully, you will get what you want.
Why, of course? Because, only now, is this not merely a simple art gallery, but an exhibition of everything you can and cannot imagine. From rare and unique potions to special materials, and precious weapons whose raw materials are themselves hard to find.
All you need to do is pull this lever and select one of the sealed objects as your final test target.
As the disc descended from mid-air, marked with countless different scales, [Mephisto] revealed a wicked smile, his long, slender demon tail swaying leisurely from side to side.
Doesn't it sound merciful and simple? If you're lucky, you might even be drawn into a draw where you can easily defeat an opponent with just a tap, and collect all the necessary materials.
This is an opportunity that most people can only dream of. All you need is extraordinary luck and imagination to achieve everything I just mentioned.
So, you brave warriors who dare to challenge fate, let me witness your battle, a battle that belongs only to you!
The crisp snap of fingers rang out again, and Mephistopheles, having finished his explanation, bowed deeply, like a host leaving the stage, his figure gradually disappearing into the air that rippled like water.
Silence flowed between our unspoken gazes.
After a long while, when Sword Demon finally caught his breath and turned around halfway with a sour face, Shan, who was usually the most composed member of the group, hesitated before speaking: "...Do we really have to listen to that guy? He gives me a very bad feeling."
“I don’t like him either.” Xiaoxi bit her nail. “Although he is indeed very handsome in some ways, which makes me regret not bringing paper and pen with me, my intuition keeps warning me not to get too involved with that guy.”
“But for now, we can only listen to what that demon says.” Sheng glanced at me and shook his head slightly. “All the information we have right now is what he gave us, and the rest are the exhibits covered by glass cases. But, I believe you have noticed, haven’t you? Those exhibits are all illusory things, many of them don’t even have a physical form.”
Shan glanced at a display case nearby, stared at it for a long time, and scratched the back of his neck: "Sorry, I'm not very good at distinguishing these."
"I do vaguely see it."
Xiaoxi hesitated before raising her hand, then turned her gaze to me: "Chief, we both came with you wanting to help, so we'll both choose to follow your advice. What do you think we should do?"
I carefully discerned the flow of magic around me.
Unlike the first two exhibition halls, the air inside the last hall lacked the dense flow of magic; instead, it was no different from the outside world. However, the illusory objects locked on the transparent display stands, despite their varying sizes and shapes, all possessed different kinds of spiritual light, revealing an extremely powerful aura.
Looking back along the exhibition hall, there are at least a dozen or even hundreds of such booths, not to mention those that are blocked by pillars and cannot be seen.
Of course, what surprised me even more was the turntable that [Mephisto] summoned. Its disc appearance and joystick surface did not show any special magical flow, nor was there an embedded energy core to drive it. Only on the quiet, stationary ball and the corresponding name indicated, there seemed to be faint magical threads flying out into the distance, connecting to a certain display stand in the distance.
It's like a mechanism set up within the internal logic.
“Logically speaking, the final boss should have been decided the moment we first entered the dungeon.” Sheng looked around at the display cases and whispered to me, “And there wouldn’t have been so many unexpected problems, including the various display cases with props that looked impressive.”
"It's like they're deliberately trying to entice us to make impulsive choices. These guys especially like to omit the most crucial clues when they're telling the truth. We need to be careful; there might be some kind of conspiracy involved."
