Chapter 159 The Prophet

"What is the ultimate enemy?"

"Just like the fate predicted by the prophets, it inherently possesses many possibilities."

Sheng paused for a moment, looking around warily as if to guard against anyone eavesdropping. She then spread her emerald hair, which had transformed into tendrils, and only after carefully confirming the situation did she finally relax and continue her story.

"The simplest one is the [Sorrowful Banshee], who appears to be a woman who has been fused into a withered black tree, constantly weeping until she goes blind. Her main abilities are interference and hard control. She herself has no special offensive power, but she is always surrounded by a group of flying tree spirits. However, it is important to note that if you are particularly mentally fragile, you may faint upon hearing her song."

"The most difficult one is the [Dragon of the End], a legendary great red dragon with seven heads and ten horns, and crowned with seven layers of crowns. It will devour the sun and bring calamity and destruction to the earth. It mainly uses powerful area-of-effect attacks, and occasionally it will also use scorching dragon breath, wide-range tail sweeps and continuous claw swings. It is the most difficult final boss to pass, and it can be said to have broken through the UUU level classification!"

Just from the description, you can tell it's difficult: "If you were to face this one, do you have a way to deal with it?"

Sheng's face stiffened for a moment, and he could only spread his hands: "This is also why I said from the beginning that we had to have that bastard Jian Gui. Of all the people who might survive to the end, only he has the experience to successfully fight the [Dragon of the End]... To correct you, it is only him and me who have the experience to fight this super difficult BOSS."

I quickly understood what he meant: "The final boss you face in your last playthrough is this person."

Sheng proudly put his hands on his hips and raised his head.

But he quickly lost heart: "However, the result of that battle was far too devastating. My initial goal was simply to try and defeat this high-difficulty boss, and I even tried to recruit a large number of characters with extremely high combat power, but almost all of them died in the final battle..."

"Big brother, do you know what happened? [Dragon of the End] just swept away half of the people's hands on the screen with a single 'tail whip,' and then used 'Starfall,' killing three-quarters of all the survivors. Some even died continuously in the subsequent battle for various reasons... I was almost stunned! And that was before he even did anything!"

No wonder that Sword Demon's mind became like that.

One reason is the endless repetition, but a more serious and crucial issue may be the lingering effects of this arduous struggle.

Under such overwhelming power, life is like the most insignificant speck of dust; a mere breath nearby will cause it to drift away into the unseen distance.

"Sigh, it feels really bad to say that, but I didn't think that much at the time. I just thought, 'Ah, such a powerful BOSS, I definitely have to try to defeat him'..."

Sheng frowned for a while before remembering to bring up the previous topic: "So, big brother, did the prophet tell you anything that you need to pay special attention to? Anything is fine."

I carefully recalled what the prophet had told me, and it didn't seem to contain anything related to the end times prophecy. However, just in case, I told Sheng the scattered words to see if he could find anything familiar in them.

But my hopes were ultimately dashed.

"That's really strange."

Stroking his chin repeatedly, Sheng curled up in confusion, his heels resting on the edge of the chair: "I've never heard anything like this in the game, and I don't know what it refers to. Could it be that he came all this way just to remind us of something completely unrelated? That would be too strange."

"Could it be referring to something that's about to happen?" I was somewhat unwilling to accept it.

Sheng quickly rejected the idea: "That's impossible. The process for the first ten tasks is usually not prone to problems."

“We’ve already encountered this ‘not-so-easy-to-encounter problem’ in the hidden dungeons,” I pointed out.

Sheng's tone softened rapidly: "That...that must have been an accident...right?"

"That person also specifically pointed out, 'One should not disrespect fate, but one should not blindly believe in fate either.'"

"Waaah..."

Seeing that Sheng had begun to whimper like a small animal, I finally breathed a sigh of relief and thought of other things.

Honestly, I still can't help but have doubts about the identity of this prophet.

As I mentioned before, before the first teaching task officially began, I did not feel much magic from the surrounding environment, and the magic within my body was also locked up. Even if I could feel it, I could not easily mobilize it at all.

The turning point that changed this situation was after the first teaching task began.

Magic originates from the smallest things, and a portion of the magic within me has also been unlocked, with the unlocking progress continuously advancing as tasks are completed and new ones begin.

Sheng also mentioned to me that he had never seen a mage like me who could freely control magic and cast spells at the very beginning of the game.

In other words, most mages today die in accidents or fail to master their abilities before they can properly demonstrate their talents.

Judging from the prophetic mage's ability to control magic, he didn't seem to be a complete novice. He possessed skillful control and manipulation abilities, and could easily draw clear, precise, and highly representative patterns in the void without any corresponding image, in order to convey to me the meaning he wished to express in a veiled way.
