Chapter 178: Why are there three stages?!

"Cough! We're alright—!"

Pegasus, its fur now gray and dirty, burst out of the dust with a flap of its wings. Hikari, also looking somewhat dusty, coughed and choked, and before she could even raise her hand to ward off the dust rushing towards her, she opened her mouth and shouted.

Behind her, the Pegasus horses that were also carrying the other two people soared into the air and circled a little further away. Their presence was then largely lost in a sudden burst of dazzling, star-like light, becoming as inconspicuous as the gray sky.

Could this also be the effect of the armor given by the headmaster?

I was a little confused, but when I noticed the girl flying closer on her Pegasus, I couldn't help but frown: "What are you doing here? It's dangerous here. Go and hide with Annie and the others."

"I don't want to!"

Hikari stubbornly puffed out her cheeks, and taking advantage of my momentary lapse in attention, she reached out and pulled me behind her saddle: "In this situation, you are all working hard, how can I choose to run away alone!"

"But you don't have much..."

“I know I don’t have much fighting power!” I was interrupted again. “But that’s not a reason for me to stand by and watch you do something suicidal just to cover our retreat!”

I am speechless.

"In addition, I can also help you by treating your injuries and assisting with the previous attack." Hikari paused, then turned to look at me. "Mr. Yumi, you remember, right? When we stepped onto the edge of the Gray Zone, if I hadn't been by your side the whole time, you would have had absolutely no chance of surviving, would you?"

"It's not impossible, for example, I could..."

"Ah—ah—I don't want to hear it, I ... can't hear it!"

The silly girl, shaking her head rapidly, flicked her beautiful long hair across my face. Surprisingly, even in this situation, it still maintained a pleasant, light fragrance: "Anyway, I'm definitely getting involved this time!"

I scratched the back of my head a couple of times and let out a long sigh.

The only flaw of this little fool is that she is stubborn and completely unwilling to listen to advice. Not to mention the Pegasus under her who are always under her care, they almost completely obey her commands. Even if I ask it to retreat to a distance with its companions, I may not get a reply agreeing.

Despite saying that, I still tried to be firm and insist, but Hikari immediately retorted with an even firmer attitude. So, the Pegasus turned its head left and right and hesitated for a few seconds before simply hovering in mid-air, pretending not to have heard anything.

Left with no other choice, I reluctantly agreed to her request.

However, this was far too dangerous. In the Abyss Mountains, I had almost lost the ability to teleport her away instantly before danger struck—even if I tried my best to open a passage connecting to the Little Garden, it would require a period of preparation and expansion, and there would have to be no magical turbulence nearby.

"If you two are going to flirt, please consider the occasion."

The Frost Sword, sent flying by the powerful blow from the Bone Tail, landed on the thin ice surface, bending its knees to gather strength: "This guy is too hard to cut, and those eerie blue flames give me a dangerous feeling; it's best not to touch him for too long. More than that, I need time to prepare my attack. Or is there any other way?"

As she spoke, without waiting for my reply, she swooped down again, using the momentum of her fall to crash heavily onto the spot where her skull and neck bones had been joined.

The first soft crackling sound rang out, echoing beautifully amidst the rapid whooshing.

Completely unprepared for this unfolding, the bone dragon roared in fury, its wings flapping as if it were about to take flight.

[Thunder Chains!]

Without time to recite the entire mantra, I hastily uttered the keywords, unleashing as much magic power as I could to hinder the bone dragon's movements.

A crisp cracking sound suddenly rang out in the gradually chaotic sky. A long, crimson-gold dragon swam high in the sky, roared wildly, then changed its momentum and plummeted straight down to the earth.

The lightning flashed intensely, spreading and coiling around the bone dragon's entire body, causing its wing flapping to pause briefly.

But that wasn't all. The crimson-gold lightning bolts, which had unleashed the majority of their power, linked together and transformed into thick dragon-binding ropes. After piercing through the false flesh and bones, they wrapped around several of the main trunks, tightening and constricting them, which slowed down the dragon's struggle.

Although this can only delay things for a short time, it is enough for some people.

An, who had quietly emerged from the shadows in front of the bone dragon, half-closed his eyes, reached out and grasped the hilt of the sword formed by the shadows, pulled it out half an inch and then slowly pulled it back.

The extremely dark flash was fleeting, and in the brief moment when it was difficult to discern what had happened, a narrow strip of darkness emerged from among the many enormous skeletons, slantingly splitting them in two and scattering them everywhere.

With a trembling wail, the bone dragon, oblivious to what was happening, frantically moved its scattered limbs, struggling to reassemble itself. It easily scooped away most of the nearby rocks, causing the bone dragon to collapse under its own weight.

The shattered stones slid to the side, knocking over many of the bone dragon legions that were slowly crawling closer, crushing the already fragile skeletons, leaving only scattered flames flying everywhere.

But that was only a part; more bone dragons had already flanked from both sides, crawling onto the angry, wailing bone dragon's body.

Admittedly, things damaged by being severed by the dark space cannot be successfully restored by their own healing abilities alone, but that only applies to ordinary creatures.
