"Hello!"
This startled me so much that I immediately stood up and cried out in alarm.
"Um?"
The wicked woman glanced at me, then turned to the hunting dog groaning and twitching under her hands, and smiled with narrowed eyes: "Oh~ you're worried I'll hurt the little guy, aren't you?"
"..."
For a moment I didn't know how to respond, so I could only stare nervously at the spot where her hand met the hound's.
The good news is that even though the situation looked very critical, I didn't see much blood, and the hounds themselves didn't seem to be aware of anything unusual.
The bad news was that the hound was behaving very strangely. While it wasn't exactly in pain or fear, its constant convulsions made me worry that it might be having epilepsy or some other illness.
Alice shook her head helplessly: "But, Master, haven't you been watching all along? About what I'm doing now, and what might happen next."
It was then that I remembered the senses I had been keeping hidden.
I was so nervous that I completely forgot about this. I'm really being ridiculous.
Have I been too lazy lately?
Or perhaps it's because this is a familiar place that you subconsciously relaxed?
Regaining control of the information gathered by my own senses, I finally confirmed what the other party was doing: I saw the knight's hand moving from the hound's jaw to its chin, as if he was digging for something, constantly exploring and confirming.
Beneath the hound's neck, down to its chest, nestled within a knitted fabric strung together by fine threads hidden among its thick fur, lay a tiny individual, which emitted a soft chirping sound when touched.
"Little bird?"
"It seems to be something meant for you."
Alice shrugged: "It's not from Yao's side, it's from Hui's side. It sounds like they forgot to give it to you when we met earlier, so they had it brought over now. But we don't know exactly what it is."
After another round of effort, she finally untied the thin ropes binding the hunting dog, allowing it to breathe freely and revealing the individual inside the bag.
Push Friends' new book is coming soon!
This fox spirit is no human!
The male protagonist is a scoundrel with a detachable tail, and his humor is utterly shameless.
...
"Ren Yidao! Please, have some decency!"
"Huh? Become a human? But I'm a fox spirit."
"Also, please call me godfather."
