Chapter 222 Hidden Story

However, Miyuki's subsequent remarks denied this possibility: "My knowledge of these things has nothing to do with my identity at the time; it can only be described as a series of coincidences."

"However, my actions at the time were too reckless, and my strength was too weak. Perhaps it was because of this that a series of bad consequences eventually occurred."

Speaking of bad consequences... the only evil thing I can imagine happening to Miyuki is the incident she mentioned during our conversation that day and night, where her elder family member was murdered. But at the time, she said it was a cruel murder without any reason, and when compared to her current words, many misunderstandings arise.

It's hard to tell whether she deliberately concealed some of the truth by feigning nonchalance that day, or whether she's now unwilling to look back on the past and, out of guilt, is taking all the blame for her past transgressions upon herself.

After all, this doesn't seem like a topic that should be explored in depth.

Even if I'm slow to notice, I'm still able to tell.

My relationship with her is just a chance encounter. We only got along because we clicked and went through some things together, which is why we can stand together now and discuss those past secrets. But in the end, we're not particularly close. What right do I have to reopen someone else's wounds and force her to recall past pain?

Now there's only one question left to be asked.

Even though I guessed the answer, I still needed to confirm one more time: "Is there anything else you need to do? Something you need our help with?"

Miyuki blinked repeatedly and opened her mouth several times before finally suppressing her surprise: "I thought you wanted to ask me what exactly happened back then."

I do want to ask.

"And the name of that human sacrifice who was said to have been in an accident, but was actually just someone who escaped with others."

Hmm... I'm starting to get curious too.

Our icy female swordswoman narrowed her eyes, a rare sight for her: "Although I did plan to go to the possible locations tonight to double-check, my original plan was to go alone. The reason I came back to tell you is just so you won't worry too much."

"Pfft, you're underestimating your master's kind heart."

The silly rabbit suddenly covered her mouth and laughed: "Although this guy always says he finds it troublesome and doesn't want to go, when it really comes down to it, he's more enthusiastic than anyone else!"

"...So long-winded!"

"Hmph, that's true. Having someone to help might increase the risk, but if it's you guys, wouldn't the probability of success actually be higher?"

She closed her eyes, tilted her head, and thought for a while before finally nodding and making up her mind.

"Okay, I'll have to trouble you guys then, partners."

Seemingly relieved of a worry, Miyuki's expression brightened considerably. She then leaned closer to us mysteriously and whispered, "By the way, what about the name of the person who escaped before... Although I don't remember it very clearly now, have you ever heard of someone with a beautiful face named Mitchell?"

Hmm... Hmm? No! Wait a minute!
