Chapter 236 Conflict

The city guard who tripped over the suddenly appearing debris brought down his nearby companion, and the fallen person pulled down those who wanted to help, even more than the approaching number. As a result, the chaos slowed down the overall movement, making it seem like reaching the center of the incident was a long way off.

It was unclear whether Miyuki and the other woman had heard the leader's words; they merely glanced at each other strangely before subtly glancing to the side.

This time, I won't think I was mistaken. The two of them did notice my approach, which is why they resorted to these methods.

So, was it really because they were being threatened by hostages that they became hesitant to take action?

It's strange. If it were Alice, she should have had the means to perfectly eliminate the enemy and rescue the hostages even in this situation, right?

Although I've never seen it, I'm just so sure of it.

Hmm...good, I saw Alice wink mischievously; she's obviously been touching me a lot.

With a sigh in my heart, I concealed myself, slipped inside the ice wall, and swiftly struck out with my palm, knocking unconscious the unfortunate fellow who was about to approach.

The guy holding the hostage seemed to notice the commotion and glanced back, but luckily I moved quickly enough that he didn't see me hiding behind the fallen man's body.

What should we do next?

As I pondered my strategy, I quietly approached the group from behind, who were completely unaware of anything amiss.

The irritable wild mage leader was still shouting at the other side of the ice wall, seemingly threatening the two that if they didn't break the transparent barrier that blocked their escape route, he would immediately use the elemental stone in his hand, which was about to explode, to destroy all the hostages stored underground, causing their operation to fail completely.

The little guy, tugging at Alice's clothes, was shouting something with tears in his eyes, but he suddenly fell silent as soon as the female knight gently touched his head with a smile, revealing obvious fear deep in his dilated pupils.

Forty-five yards away, headwind, slightly chaotic magic flow, no sense of diffusion, no strong magic control, intense and unstable emotions, presence of elevation difference suppression, carrying dangerous items, hostages, suspected of being equipped with trigger-sensitive defensive accessories... backup hidden at the basement entrance... a sneak attack has a chance of success, caution is advised.

Analysis flashes through my mind, outlining a mathematical framework that unfolds horizontally.

A flash of light, a beam of lightning piercing through vision, and a light, leaping kick arrived almost simultaneously. As the leader, realizing his defenses had been breached, looked back in astonishment, I swiftly pinned down the person holding the hostage. Then, I commanded another beam of lightning to coalesce into the shape of a spear, piercing through his collarbone and pinning the wild mage, who was standing guard at the basement door, peering out to inquire about the situation, to the wall.

Pain can hinder an opponent from casting spells, especially these obvious novices.

I jumped off the back of the unconscious enemy, looked down at the many gazes filled with astonishment and hostility, and gently raised my hands.
