Chapter 236 Conflict

Another roar.

I squinted and looked down through the rising smoke and fire.

Ignoring the rascal rabbit that kept hopping around as if toying with its opponent, on the other side, Miyuki, who had never managed to penetrate deep into the ruins of the building, had her neat leather armor torn in many places, and the corners and ends of her hair showed signs of being burned by fire, clearly in a precarious situation.

She planted her sword on the ground, using her hands to brace herself and barely absorb the force of the blows. Her deep, labored breathing clearly indicated that she was in poor condition. But before she could even rest for a moment, the wind blades that tore through the smoke attacked again and again, cunningly aiming for her vital points. She could only raise her trembling arm once more and swing her slender sword to deflect the attacks.

The wind blades embedded in the ground left only shallow cuts before disappearing without a trace. Instead, those that were accidentally struck by the wind blades and landed on distant houses caused massive damage, causing already unstable structures to collapse. Fortunately, the residents heard the commotion early and quickly evacuated the danger zone, thus preventing further property damage.

After dodging several more attacks, a pale white condensed aura swirled around the blade. Then, the [Frost Sword] slashed with its blade, and the sword energy broke free and flew out, rapidly piercing through the obstruction that blocked its vision. As it trailed behind, a cluster of flower-shaped ice spikes stretched forward and rose up.

The earth was cleaved in deep wounds before her, and the icy-colored flowers, like blood flowing from the wounds, rapidly multiplied and surged upwards, stretching into a cold, hard barrier that barely allowed passage.

Like a sealed food container or a transparent ornamental ball, although it couldn't completely enclose a group of people, it was more than enough to trap them inside for a period of time.

I have a feeling that Miyuki glanced at me just now.

Shaking my head to focus my scattered attention, I stumbled and barely managed to land in a corner of the ruins amidst the fierce wind. After finally regaining my balance, I crouched down in an inconspicuous little gap on the side of the battlefield and finally found my target, which had been obscured by the smoke from the explosion.

Amidst the once exquisite ruins and streaks of dark blood, at the forefront of a gate leading to an underground passage, stands a man with a crazed and ferocious expression, his teeth clenched, his gaze fiercely fixed on the ice wall beyond. A half-empty cloth bag hangs from his waist, and several elemental stones of varying colors are tucked between the fingers of his left hand, shimmering with the hues of activation, awaiting their explosive release.

A slight tremor traveled along the ground again. The explosion of the thrown elemental stone failed to break through the transparent barrier formed by the sword energy. The wind blades generated by the squeezed magic could only leave faint white marks on its surface, which were easily wiped away and restored to their original state.

Even punching and kicking couldn't budge the ice wall in the slightest.

It was almost like an insurmountable wall of sighs standing in front of them, completely enveloping them from all sides and above, enough to make them feel a profound sense of despair.

"hateful!"

An angry shout came with the still-churning wind: "Hey! You there! Hurry up and figure out a way to blast this damn ice wall open!"

"But...but this ice wall is too thick, it seems to be beyond our capabilities..."

The man following closely behind the leader shrank his fat neck and made a fearful sound.

"I don't care what means you use, even if you use all your magic! Just break this damn wall now!" the leader roared. "Or find me a crack to get out of here!"

Startled by the roar, the group scattered and fled, some trying to find any gaps in the thick walls, others avoiding direct confrontation with Shen Xue and her companion, while continuously unleashing crudely designed wind blades or flames.

Only one person remained, holding the hostage, standing beside the leader, looking around anxiously.

I carefully hid myself further back while glancing across at the other side.

Previously suppressed and unable to advance an inch, Miyuki now stood upright, leaning on her longsword, and took a deep breath. Alice, having finally finished teasing her opponent, smiled and dragged her opponent's left foot, ignoring the many broken and sharp stones lying on the ground, as she leisurely approached, leaving a vicious trail of blood behind her.

"Wow, looks like that was quite a tough fight just now!"

She even had a flirtatious streak, casually slamming her unconscious opponent's body against the ice wall. The impact produced a startling thud, leaving a shallow, blood-red crater on the wall, drawing disapproving glares from those nearby.

The mischievous rabbit, clearly noticing the familiar little guy suddenly approaching from behind, didn't turn around to see the other's uneasy expression. He shrugged and spread his hands indifferently at the boy's warning: "Don't worry about it, it'll be over soon anyway, nothing will happen."

"Ha! What a huge joke."

The leader, seemingly understanding something, burst into laughter: "Did you hear that? The whistle is coming from afar. The city guards are coming soon. But you audacious bandits not only attacked us, but you didn't even choose to run away. Instead, you just stood there waiting to walk into our trap. It's hilarious!"

I turned around and looked into the distance. The city guards, who had barely managed to organize themselves, were indeed rapidly approaching this direction.

However, the roads in the frozen snow city were already chaotic and messy due to the haphazardly built shacks, and after the group's outburst, the road conditions were now far worse than before, making it almost impossible to find a suitable place to stand amidst the ruins.
