Wow! This is insane!
These guys really did choose to abandon me and go do that kind of thing on their own.
Just from the little guy's expression in the early hours of the morning, you could tell that they were a group of troublemakers, but I didn't expect him to go alone.
Is it arrogance and complacency regarding one's own abilities, or is it complete disregard for the so-called danger?
Without a doubt, the massive explosions and flames I see from the window are the best proof that Miyuki and her friends are confronting those guys.
No, that must be the magician's method, right?
Even from this distance, the obvious magical fluctuations could be clearly felt, not to mention the outstanding attributes they possessed. Where did such power come from? They were clearly just a bunch of pretentious charlatans; could it be that they used elemental stones and created an elemental bomb?!
I fought Miyuki in the mountains before, so I know her strength. Although it will take some effort, I shouldn't be overwhelmed by such attacks. I imagine those guys must have resorted to some rather despicable means.
Judging from the probability, could it be that one or a group of hostages have been kidnapped?
Despite having the title of "Frost Sword" and often appearing with a cold, icy expression, and constantly spouting strange things like that she is a sword, Miyuki is actually quite soft-hearted and warm-hearted. This tactic should be extremely effective against her.
As for Alice, that wretched rabbit's abilities are needless to say.
I've watched her spar with Miyuki every time, and she wins every single time. I don't know what she's so proud of. Every time, she'll come to me specifically to brag about it, and then she'll happily run to the kitchen to ask Hikari for food. I thought that with her around, even morally difficult situations could be easily resolved. Now that things have escalated to this point, she's either being held back by someone extremely powerful, or she's just dawdling and having fun. She's despicable and hateful. I really want to punch her in the stomach.
So, what do we do now?
Before the mind has even thought it through, the body has already spontaneously given the order to act.
I instinctively pushed open the window in front of me and stepped onto the windowsill.
"Hey! You're not just planning to help your comrade like this, are you?"
Suddenly a voice called out to me from behind.
Looking back, I saw a man in a robe draped in stars starry sky staring at me expressionlessly, while a blind saintess emerged from behind him, pushing open the door and leaning on her cane.
Even without opening her eyes, the woman's worried expression was clearly visible: "You must have heard, right? There's a device in this city that can detect mages. Although we don't yet understand how it works, we do know that if we use our abilities carelessly outside, they'll soon come knocking on our door."
“But I can’t just leave my companions to fend for themselves,” I replied calmly.
"I'm not stopping you."
The man sitting haphazardly on the ground frowned: "Instead of saying that, if you choose to do that, then we have nothing more to talk to you about afterward."
"Instead, I should ask you, if you want to help your companion in this situation, but are careful not to reveal your abilities, what exactly should you do?"
What should I do... To be honest, I didn't think about this carefully when I was in a moment of impulsiveness. I just followed the instincts of my body and acted on my own.
I frowned and fell silent.
Perhaps it was this attitude that made the other party understand my situation. The man finally shook his head, suddenly pulled one off from the decoration on his sleeve, and tossed it to me: "Here you go, it can serve as a temporary safety barrier."
"However, since there's only one, its effectiveness is limited. If the power or range of the spell you use is too great, it won't be able to withstand it at all. You'll have to estimate the specific limits yourself. This is all the help we can offer."
I examined the crystal in my hand, which was translucent and faintly glowed with purple light, feeling the subtle fluctuations emanating from it and spreading around me. Finally, I clenched it tightly and said, "Thank you."
You should sincerely thank those who deserve thanks, and leave any questions for when you meet again.
The man waved casually, said nothing, then scrambled to his feet, put his hands in his pockets, and walked in a different direction from me.
The blind saintess nervously circled between us several times before quietly approaching me. She grabbed my hand, repeatedly reminding me to be careful, and then quickly walked into the room that was about to open, presumably to check on the patient's condition.
I carefully placed the crystal, took a deep breath, and refrained from doing anything foolish to cheer myself up. I walked back to the windowsill and stepped outside.
No longer as cautious as when I climbed out of the car window in the middle of the night, with the magical energy concealed by the item, and with the blessing of the Featherfall spell, I was like a light feather, drifting along with the wind I summoned, slowly sliding down towards the distant, trembling battlefield.
As the distance closed and I glided through the air, I was able to clearly observe more details that I hadn't noticed before.
Within a radius of 100 meters, the magnificent buildings adorned with numerous pine and cypress trees collapsed into pale stone fragments. A layer of wall, cut diagonally, was smooth and flat, bearing traces of frost, clearly the work of Shen Xue.
Chaos spread like a tide as the terrified crowd surged forward. Violent explosions rang out intermittently, interspersed with sharp sword cries, further exacerbating the situation.
Looking back, one could see scattered city guards lined up near the city gate. Although most of them had not yet put on their uniforms properly and their weapons were just crude spears, their half-body armor still looked quite intimidating.
