Chapter 238 Hidden

I never imagined that she would now be able to take others flying with her, far more skilled and agile than before. I wonder how she trained in such a short time.

Compared to me, who could only choose to run on the ground and even had to turn into a cat again to fool the search, this is an enviable ability and progress.

Alice, who arrived around the same time as us, put down the little one who had rushed to the side and was vomiting violently. She pretended to wipe her forehead and shake her hands, but there wasn't a single bead of sweat on her body. She was obviously addicted to playing again.

I have no idea what she did or where she ran off to. I can only say that I'm glad I didn't accept her invitation to take me with her and instead chose to follow Miyuki, otherwise I might be in the same situation as that young boy over there.

Once the little guy could no longer vomit, we used fire and water to clean up all the remaining filth to avoid leaving any reason for suspicion. After tidying up our slightly disheveled clothes, we walked to the door and raised our hands to knock on it.

Just then, the door suddenly opened silently on its own.

It really startled me. Then I noticed the tip of a cane peeking out from behind the half-open door, followed by the plain-colored skirt I had just seen.

"Fortunately, you've all returned safely."

The blind saintess seemed to be sizing us up. Her face, with her eyes slightly lowered, peeked out from the crack in the door as she moved, and then swept over us from left to right, without moving up or down.

She smiled with relief and stepped aside to make way for them: "Hurry up and come in. I just sent the people lingering in the lobby away. If you go up to the second floor quickly, no one will notice that you've brought people to hide here with me."

"Are you sure it's okay? Will it really not cause you any trouble?"

I'm still a little hesitant.

Earlier on the road, we saw the city guards who had been searching for us in vain. I don’t know whose orders they were given, but they roughly kicked open the doors of people’s houses on both sides of the street and barged in. Then we heard a cacophony of rummaging through drawers and cabinets and frantic crying. I knew that something bad had happened.

Lacking sufficient strength to resist the numerous and scattered city guards, one of our immediate objectives was to properly settle Leticia, who had been inexplicably imprisoned underground by those wild mages. The thought that this calamity was caused by us made us feel even worse.

The only saving grace is that those guys don't indiscriminately harm the city's residents. It's unclear whether they still have a shred of conscience or are simply too lazy to cause trouble.

This added many twists and turns to our decision to remain hidden.

We currently only have one place to stay in the city, and Miyuki said that the ice hut she frequents is likely to be searched and cannot provide shelter. However, the young boy, after a brief silence, suddenly offered to let us hide in his house, explaining that it was spacious enough and wouldn't be easily searched, making it safe enough.

Unfortunately, when they changed course halfway, they found that those people were lingering on the only way to the abandoned house, so they had no choice but to give up.

I had originally planned to pull the door open and escape, but I had some doubts and hesitations about whether I could guarantee the safety of Miyuki and Alice, and whether the young boy with little magical reaction and Leticia could withstand the fear and magical reaction of crossing the void. In the end, I decided to give up and prioritize safety.

After much thought, the only option left was to try their luck with the blind saintess and see if she had any way to hide her secrets.

Unexpectedly, the other party had anticipated my choice and made preparations to meet me. They smiled kindly and whispered to us, "After all, these are things that we have 'seen,' so we just happened to have time to prepare."

"Don't worry too much about my situation. I still have some influence, and if I sincerely ask them, maybe I can get some leniency and understanding?"

That's still too risky.

I was about to shake my head, but out of the corner of my eye, I saw the Star Cultist standing not far behind the blind saintess, who had been leaning against the wall with his arms crossed, turn around and leave, not forgetting to add, "I advise you to listen to that woman and come in obediently. Otherwise, she'll become a real problem."

Wow, this guy is so arrogant, I just want to punch him in the nose! So, was his personality completely an act when we first met?

I really wanted to speak up and complain, but the sudden grab of my left hand brought me back to my senses, and I instinctively took a half step back.

There was nothing more to it than the blind saintess's face suddenly approaching, which made me subconsciously recall fragments of the dark world I had seen before, and thus I was frightened.

Fortunately, she knew there were many people around, so she didn't open her eyes. Otherwise, I'm afraid she would have made me lie down for another half hour.

I ultimately decided to grant her wish and led the group of people who had agreed into the small building.

The door closed behind them.

The young boy, who had remained silent since the door opened, his tear-filled eyes fixed on the blind saintess, suddenly stepped forward. At the same time, drawing our attention, he asked in a trembling voice, "Are you... Sister Thiel?"

This is a question that truly surprised us.

What surprised us even more was that after a half-second of stunned silence, the blind saintess reached out and touched the little guy's face. Her thoughtful expression gradually turned to surprise, and she nodded gently: "Yes, it's me. I never expected to see you here at a time like this. It's another miracle beyond what I can 'see'."
