Chapter 254 Unfinished

I don't know exactly how much time has passed.

Having exhausted its power, the core spirit, whose body had become even more transparent, was the first to return to the Little Garden.

The fairies who completed the retrieval of the enormous pure magic stone were the second.

As my energy waned, the Dragon Rider system gradually retreated back into the triple rings that began to rotate again. After all the windows of equal size were closed, the overlapping barriers that flashed past from the outer layer presented a perfect honeycomb pattern, and soon disappeared into the turbulent air along with the miniature garden itself.

There was no strength left to hold on.

His body was faintly hot, his limbs were weak and hanging limply, and his magic circuits were throbbing with unbearable pain. His mind was foggy and he could not clearly see the scene in front of him. It was as if he could not make it clear, and it turned into countless colorless outlines and lines.

The sensation of the fluffy ball landing on my shoulder gently brushing against my cheek felt distant, as if separated by a membrane. My perception of its movement and the coolness of the breeze blowing through my fur became dull and slow.

Suddenly, I felt a little glad that I hadn't tried to be strong on my own, but instead chose to ask Alice for help. Otherwise, I'm afraid I would have fallen vertically the moment I lost my strength.

"It's alright, Master, it's safe here now."

Alice's voice came from afar, and I could vaguely feel her gently embracing me and warming me: "Although this sudden disaster is not completely over, you did stop the most intense wave, didn't you?"

Really?

I tried blinking my heavy eyelids, struggling to focus my gaze.

Above the half-empty sky, the gray clouds, sprinkling white snowflakes, swayed and shook, then were suddenly torn apart by a distant, thin, golden-red ray of light, scattering bright colors.

Small pebbles continued to fall from above, but fortunately, most of the cut surfaces were relatively smooth and the pebbles themselves were not too large. They rolled on the damp ground that was beginning to freeze again, but did not pick up a single speck of dust.

The sirens and screams gradually ceased, and silence descended.

It seemed as if everything around us had become quiet.

Then came a faint hum that gradually intensified from the silence.

"Yes, get some sleep. You've worked hard."

With gentle persuasion, I gradually closed my eyes and sank into the depths of darkness.

Then it came to my mind, albeit belatedly.

Ah, spring has not yet arrived.

...

"Ah, big brother, are you awake?"

Later, I was awakened by a refreshing fragrance that brushed past my nose.

Beneath me were damp grass blades and a slightly sunken, tilted feel. Looking up, beyond the area cut off by the hard, gray-black cut surface, huge leaves swayed, and occasionally glistening water droplets rolled down from above.

"It rained a little heavily during our break, so we temporarily took shelter inside... Ah, we're hiding in a tree hollow... Does anyone feel uncomfortable?"

The voice came gently from the side. Turning around, I saw Sheng holding the hem of her clothes with both hands, squeezing out the water.

Her long, lush green hair clung damply to her androgynous face, spreading out in several strands that intertwined along the lines of her body, like a blanket being woven from itself, tangled together and then laid down around her waist, directing the squeezed-out moisture towards the outside of the tree hole.

Most of her clothes had been removed, leaving only an oversized white shirt that stretched past her hips, clinging to her small body. Because it was wet, it was slightly transparent and flesh-colored. The grass-green ribbon tied around her neck had also not been removed, and occasionally reflected a bright flash in the surrounding shimmering light.

He seemed to be trying to dry his clothes, but at the same time he was careful not to let the water flow towards me. He kept trying, and even the tree hole itself had a slight difference in height, so most of the water that was slightly above his ankles accumulated near Sheng's bare feet and did not reach me at all.

After a brief moment of panic, I finally understood what had happened.

Yes, that makes sense. Didn't it come here on its own after it fell into a deep sleep?

It's just that this time it took a bit longer, and after staying up all night and working hard all day, it felt like I hadn't seen them for several days, so it's normal to be a little dazed.

Thinking about it this way, after getting busy, I forgot most of the continuous monitoring of the situation here, and I don't know if any events or information that needed attention occurred during the period I forgot about it.

However, judging from the time, it seems that it was during the rest period here. Judging from the fact that Sheng next to me seemed to be in a pretty good mood, nothing must have happened.

Although I'm a little worried about what's happening on the other side, there's nothing I can do about it now, so I might as well check on my own situation first.

My clothes were only slightly damp where they touched the wall. From what Sheng said, it seemed he had forcibly constructed a tree hollow inside the tree wall. The space wasn't large, but thankfully it wasn't too cramped either. It was a little uncomfortable for someone of my normal build to have to curl up slightly, but I figured I'd feel better after moving around a bit once I got outside.

Shaking my head, I decided to start by asking about the current situation: "Where are the others?"

"Don't worry, the other resettlement sites are nearby, they're not far from us."

Sheng readily replied, "I just found a fairly large cave. Judging from its size, it seems to have been the den of some large beasts. I don't know if they were killed or driven away by other beings. At least the traces inside are very old, so it's safe."
