Chapter 53 Monsters in the Academy shuhaige.net

That's true.

Especially now that a chimera laboratory, whose identity has not been identified, has suddenly appeared out of nowhere, if we let Ale go out and run around, and he gets caught by those who might be after the memories sealed in his brain, it would be a huge disaster.

I nimbly jumped off the desk, said goodbye, dodged the few monsters that tried to graze around me, and headed towards the exit of the monster research, management, and breeding park, which was under the jurisdiction of Arie.

"By the way, Yumi, why don't you go check on those hunting dogs?"

Just before I was about to leave, Arie, as if suddenly remembering something, slowly suggested, "Lately, they've been acting unusually agitated and have been strongly resisting my approach and help. Could there be something wrong?"

"hound?"

I was a little puzzled, but I thanked him for the reminder and turned around as he suggested, intending to go and take a look.

I did think about checking on them when I went out before, but those puppies looked healthier than me. Apart from being a bit lazy and liking to sunbathe, they haven't had any major health problems in over a year. I heard that they also have someone in charge of their food, so there's no need to worry about them at all.

But according to Arie, it sounds like something unusual has happened recently that those puppies with their unusually keen sense of smell have noticed, or maybe he's just simply sick...

Surely it couldn't be because it had been separated from its owner for a long time that it felt lonely?

With this thought in mind, I headed towards my mentor's private workshop. Before I could even get a closer look, I saw those usually lazy guys gathered and lingering at the workshop entrance, occasionally baring their teeth in a show of defiance, yet seemingly afraid of something, choosing not to simply enter through the archway.

Noticing my approach, the hounds' eyes brightened considerably, and their defiance grew louder. A few excitedly stepped forward and barked fiercely into the house, while others came forward, whimpering and tugging at my trouser leg with obvious grievance.

"Okay, okay, I know. Don't worry, I'm here now."

As I soothed them, I approached the workshop. The youngest one loosened its mouth with some doubt, tilted its head to look at me, and after confirming that I was indeed heading in the direction they were pointing, it excitedly hopped a couple of steps, its tail wagging happily from side to side.

Soon, I arrived at the workshop entrance. The hunting dogs surrounded me, nudging me forward gently, and occasionally taking two anxious steps forward to bark at the gate before quickly retreating behind me. They were like a child who had been bullied and called for their parents, but couldn't help but utter threats repeatedly, which was both funny and exasperating.

I was certain that it was because there was something unfamiliar in the mentor's workshop that made them instinctively uneasy, something they could clearly notice even through the door.

So what could it be? I pushed open the door with some curiosity, and after confirming that the entrance was basically safe, I cautiously walked in slowly. Most of the hunting dogs that surrounded me followed behind me, except for the youngest one, which darted past my legs and took the lead into the house.

They really are like newborn calves that are not afraid of tigers.

Following the barking, I soon noticed the true nature of what was making the hounds uneasy—a pale blue color all over, like a large, unpredictable mass of water, with a translucent, pale white outer membrane, and a faint scent of my mentor lingering on it.

So isn't this the waterbed where the mentor was lying when he was summoned before?! Speaking of which, why...?

I was only halfway through my thought when I saw this thing, which I mistook for a waterbed, sway from side to side and then suddenly leap to a place a little further away from me, the light blue water swaying erratically.

Amidst a burst of barking, I fell silent.

So this is actually a monster?! ???
