go home!
I angrily flung open the door, stepped back into the small garden, and curled up in my own special sofa seat.
But now I'm really angry. It feels like my brain has become a pot of boiling water. Even if I turn off the fire and put the lid on, I can't stop the boiling steam from overflowing.
The soft sofa could not soothe the restlessness in my heart at all. Even after taking off my coat and boots and curling up in the softness that used to be able to dissolve everything, I could only feel an unbearable unease. It was as if I could feel the faint bulge of a pea under a thousand mattresses, and my whole body felt like it was being gnawed by insects and lice.
The cat probably noticed my return, trotted over to glance at me, and then quickly scurried away again. When it returned, it was followed by a hunting dog carrying Pupu on its backāhave these two formed a duo?
The cat glanced at me, then quickly jumped onto Pupu, who had been put down by the hunting dog. It stomped on Pupu with its paw, looked up at me, and stomped on it again. I guessed it was gesturing for me to lie down on Pupu. Thinking that I wouldn't feel better lying there, I did as it suggested.
The cool sensation penetrated my exposed skin the moment it touched me, making me shiver involuntarily. Then, something furry darted into my arms and gently brushed against my arm.
I looked down and saw the cat with its colorful head lying on its side in my arms, rubbing against me with the back of its neck. The hound lay obediently beside me, winking and making faces at me. Even the poop behind me started to flow on its own, changing into a posture that made me feel comfortable, gently embracing me, swaying from side to side like ripples of water, and even shimmering soft light in my sight, as if asking if this was okay.
The intense heartbeat instantly calmed down considerably.
I gently closed my eyes, feeling the rustling sound and the slightly puzzled popping sounds in my ears. I exhaled a breath of hot, turbid air that had been trapped deep in my lungs, and finally calmed down.
It was obvious that I wasn't in a good state just now.
Even if someone were to tease you like that on a normal day, you shouldn't react so strongly.
The emotion came too intensely, abruptly and without any source, like a lit firework, bursting forth brilliantly and violently, but because of this, it was almost impossible to shift one's gaze to anything other than the fireworks.
For a monk, calmness is everything.
Losing his composure would make him blind and short-sighted, extreme and impulsive. Even his usually smooth spellcasting and perception abilities would be greatly reduced, because he would be unable to control the activation and use of spells.
This means that the monk has effectively lost everything he owned.
This is a basic mistake I should never have made.
In other words, someone must be interfering behind the scenes.
In my mind, I reviewed today's schedule, and even the schedules of the past few days.
After having breakfast early in the morning, I was briefly shocked by the accident caused by Miss [Aisha], but that shock did not cause me to suddenly lose my composure. My mentor and Yao, who examined me, also helped to rule out the possibility of this accident.
Afterwards, I was taken to my mentor's workshop, where I listened to the Dean and my mentor discuss the academy's future activities and some work plans. After leaving the workshop, I had a private meeting with the Dean. This part was also fine; both my mentor and the Dean were trustworthy adults, and at the time, I didn't notice anything unusual affecting me, otherwise I would have noticed something amiss much earlier.
Then, wanting to have lunch earlier, I went to a familiar restaurant and ran into Ariel and the five little princesses who were also there. After ordering, the little princess took Professor Adrian back with her.
That restaurant can be ruled out as a suspect, even though we went into a private room, the food still tasted familiar.
Yare spent most of the time flirting with his pet ferret, but accidentally let it jump onto the table once, getting some soup on its tail. Fortunately, it was quickly removed, and since most of the soup had already been eaten, it didn't seem to be related to the incident. The way he brought it up as he left was a little irritating, but it was his familiar tone.
The little princess did hug my arm before coming in, but she didn't make any unexpected movements. Compared to her flirtatious talk, she was surprisingly honest and shy. She even deliberately kept my arm a little distance away from her chest.
The other three, one of whom claimed to be my admirer, and the other two, whose attention was mostly focused on the little princess and Professor Adrian, did not seem to be suspects.
Ultimately, it was Adrian...
I tried to recall his expression and movements carefully, but I couldn't detect anything unusual.
He maintained a gentle and kind professor's demeanor throughout, remaining steadfast and patient even when faced with a barrage of questions from students. He answered each question with unwavering determination, only showing slight hesitation when I replied that I had not received any information about the arrangements for the day after tomorrow from the dean or the tutor. But that could be considered a normal response.
Where exactly did the problem go wrong?
Is it his tone, his expression, or his behavior?
Although there was some suspicion that he was the one who stole the axe, upon closer examination, the only explanation was to place the suspicion on him.
To be honest, the only suspicious thing about him is that he left in an unusually hurry after finishing his meal.
