Chapter 84 Dramatic Development

As soon as the man finished speaking, a sudden roar erupted.

The violent tremor made it almost impossible for us standing on the ground to maintain our balance. Only An, who reacted the fastest, stabbed the man, but no blood flowed out. Instead, a large amount of dark gray liquid also flowed out.

The ground beneath my feet was cracking, violently bulging upwards from the blanket covering it, pausing briefly before cracking again amidst even more violent tremors.

The enormous creature, dripping with a dark gray liquid, stood upright, displaying its pincers that gleamed with a chilling light. Hundreds of legs flared along its slender body, and corrosive liquid dripped from its mouthparts.

The next moment, we, imprisoned in the small room, are about to suffer calamity. Even if we sneak into the shadow space to hide, we can only hide for a short time.

...That's how it should have been.

"Alright~ let's end this boring stage play here~"

The world before my eyes was like a game interface that had been suddenly paused. Pure black and white colors stained everything around me, freezing everything that was just moving rapidly, and even thoughts seemed to come to a standstill.

The silence returned, and apart from the familiar voice humming a cheerful tune, no other sounds could be heard.

Immediately afterwards, a tearing sound rang out violently. Like a canvas being easily ripped open, a huge, furry rabbit paw reached in from the exposed darkness, casually flicking away the centipede that had approached, severing it in two. Then, it gently pinched my body from both sides, and after confirming that there would be no problems, slowly and leisurely lifted me up.

"Oh dear, Master, please be careful not to move around, otherwise I will not be able to accurately bring you back to consciousness."

As the body continued to rise, it finally crossed the torn space and plunged into the depths of darkness. A strange premonition rose from the bottom of my heart, as if I had finally broken through the water film that blocked my breathing. The cold night air rushed into my lungs with each deep breath, bringing a slightly damp chill.

"...It seems she's awake."

Another voice sounded nearby, as if relieved: "Mental well-being. Aside from possibly some brief tremors, the rescue operation is basically over." A warm, gentle touch came from his arm. "Hey! Brother! If you can hear me, remember to open your eyes! Take it slow, don't rush!"

I instinctively opened my eyes, but then reflexively closed them again as I was suddenly confronted with a bright light.

"Oh, sorry, I forgot to turn off the lights."

The warm touch vanished in an instant. The owner of the voice seemed to be adjusting the lights. After the sound of gears turning rang out a few times, the burning sensation on my eyelids gradually subsided in the cool breeze blowing in my face.

I carefully opened my eyes again, albeit slightly. The yellowish-black spots remaining on my retina had not yet faded, but they were much better.

As my vision cleared, the blurry double images gradually transformed into familiar faces. After a moment, I finally restarted my stagnant brain and quickly grasped the situation.

The location is a small garden, it's midnight, and the time is 3:30 AM.

Everything has already happened.

Nothing has happened yet.

I tossed the haphazardly dancing rabbit out of the room, watched as the sleeping shadow peeked out halfway before disappearing back into the shadows, stroked the fur of the cat nestled in my arms, purring contentedly, leaned back against the extra-high cushions, and asked the two people sitting beside me, "So first of all, can someone give me a complete explanation?"

Feeling exceptionally exhausted, Yao and Lena exchanged a glance. After a brief exchange, Lena, still seated in her reclining chair by the bed, raised her hand first: "To put it simply, after a series of complex and difficult preparations, my two sisters and I successfully pulled your consciousness back from the future." She sighed deeply, complaining, "I'm absolutely exhausted—"

I instinctively stopped petting the cat, which elicited a disgruntled meow: "What's the specific explanation?"

"Ah, this..."

Lena's eyes darted around rapidly, as if she was hesitating, wanting to ask for help, yet restraining herself.

I turned my gaze directly to Yao, who had been staring at the book ever since he came to his senses.

The woman, dressed in elaborate attire, sat in a corner a little away from me. There was no usual city of books surrounding her; instead, she held a book about two fingers wide in her hands, gazing intently at the open page for a long time without making any move.

As if finally confirming something, after a long few minutes, Yao finally sighed, closed the book in her hands, placed it horizontally on her lap, and placed her slender, delicate hands on the cover.

"Then let me explain."

A calm voice flowed quietly through the air: "Last night, while I was browsing through books, I happened to find a book with your information on it."

Whose is it?

"your."

Yao reiterated, "That wasn't my intention, and the maids wouldn't have taken the wrong one while moving it. I originally intended to put the book back where it was, but the intuition that arose in my mind when I picked it up made me stop calling the maids."

As if waiting for me to process this, she paused for a few seconds: "Master of the Box Garden, you should know that the actions of everyone in this world are actually recorded in the library, right?"

"Ordinary people who live a quiet life with few major events and those who die young are only briefly described on a few pages; those with ordinary and unremarkable lives, or those who only grow up to adolescence, are a thin book of a dozen or so pages; those who experience some setbacks but ultimately reach a happy ending may be a bit thicker, like the script of a play; those who have experienced hardships and those who have made significant contributions have already become a good novel."
