Chapter 99 Cultivation

I tried to offer what was obviously a pointless piece of advice: "You should study hard. At least what the teachers in the academy teach is useful in the outside world."

"As the most frequent truant student, he's here advising younger students to study hard. It sounds like he's telling a rare joke."

Seeing that I was speechless, her fiery red eyes narrowed into crescents: "Alright, actually, I asked the academy for a few extra days off in order to wait for this wedding banquet."

"I came here on business at first, and I didn't expect to stay this long, so I didn't even bring Sue and Mira. I was thinking I could catch up on the shared classes with them when I got back. Plus, I've been wrapping up the practical activities we did recently, so if I think about it carefully, I haven't missed many classes... right?"

The wedding banquet... it seems like it's almost here.

I lay in bed for several days for no reason, and I almost lost track of time.

I didn't get a proper chance to talk to Yuel and Leticia when we went out together before. Now that we're meeting again, I wonder if I'll leave a decent first impression. At least I hope I'm not a weak younger brother who has to stay indoors all day to recuperate and causes so much worry.

"Your parents also asked me to call you, saying that if you feel better, you can take it slowly and not push yourself too hard. It starts at 3 pm tomorrow and will be held at that luxury hotel on the back hill."

After tidying her clothes, Grey stood up, preparing to leave.

But she suddenly stopped, lost in thought: "It's strange, though. This senior doesn't seem to be very famous in Mermaid Harbor. I don't think I've heard any rumors about him, and even after this incident, no one has mentioned him. On the way here, I saw a few suspicious guys gathered at the back door, and they scattered as soon as they saw me approaching."

"I'm not some kind of celebrity, and I haven't done anything worth publicizing, so why should I doubt this?"

"What do you mean by 'didn't do anything worth publicizing'? Think about it, senior, you're the one who saved the city from too much damage, so why is everyone pretending not to see it? On the contrary, I heard a lot of praise from Mrs. Mitchell... How strange!"

Just then, the door opened from the outside, and Hikari walked into the room carrying a clay pot. After placing the pot on the bedside table, she didn't say much, but quickly opened the lid and ladled out a bowl of... red date and pork liver soup.

It's hard to describe how I felt the moment I saw this thing.

Not to mention that I've been drinking this for three days in a row. Even the most delicious food will become incredibly unpalatable after eating it for three days straight!

I feel like throwing up.

Ignoring Gray's sudden burst of laughter in the background, Hikari carefully blew on the soup in the spoon to bring it to a drinkable temperature before handing it directly to me, declaring firmly, "Mr. Yumi, your aunt and uncle bought all of this at a high price from other cities especially for you! You must drink this and get better soon so they won't worry anymore!"

I could clearly see the deep worry and unwavering determination in those clear eyes, and in the end, I could only reluctantly open my mouth, chew roughly, and let the unbearable taste slide down my esophagus.

...Damn it! Next time I do that kind of thing, I'll be careful not to let them see me!
