Chapter 78 The Snake That Trips Your Way (shuhaige.net)

A sudden riot broke out in the auction hall.

The guests scattered in panic, completely abandoning their previous elegance and manners. Ignoring the guards' attempts to calm and guide them, they rushed towards the nearest exit like ants about to be cooked in a pot.

A few relatively calm guests stood amidst the surging crowd, striving to maintain basic order and ensure the safety of the people, but unfortunately, they were still struggling to keep up. Like scattered stone pillars in the turbulent current, although they appeared to be standing still from the outside, they had already begun to tremble from their roots, and with just a little more force applied to the same side, they would collapse whole.

I pulled the people around me to a nearby corner and tried to investigate the surrounding situation, but I could only perceive a noisy and chaotic magical noise from the information fed back by my senses. I was unable to observe the flow of magical energy around me in detail.

The range of perception was also interfered with. Even with the greatest effort to expand, it could only reach about one meter around the body. Beyond that, the connection was directly severed, as if it had been sucked in by a greedy mouth, leaving only an empty echo.

I quickly realized that there seemed to be some kind of peculiar particulate matter in the fog that specifically blocked the spread and detection of perception, making it less efficient than the naked eye alone.

I squinted and tried to look into the distance. Skipping over the throng of people, my gaze strained through the thinning smoke, and I could vaguely make out only four figures that had landed on the ground.

There appeared to be four figures of similar build. Of course, there might have been slight differences, but because they were all wearing dark bodysuits and their faces were covered with black scarves, it was almost impossible to tell them apart.

Looking up, I glanced at the shattered stained glass, trying to confirm the entrance they had broken through. After scanning it several times, I felt something was amiss. I tried to focus my magic on my eyes to enhance my vision, and finally managed to glimpse something unusual in the shadowy darkness.

Another figure crouched quietly on the edge of the broken glass, also dressed in a dark bodysuit, hidden in the shadows where the moonlight could not reach. His exposed eyes warily scanned the chaotic hall, and he held a rope in his hand, as if preparing to catch the falling people.

The frost rising from the depths of extreme cold sweeps away all dust!

A deep blue light, exuding an intense chill, suddenly shone in mid-air. As a steady voice fell, the frost, carrying a bone-chilling cold, instantly cleared away all the chaotic dust on the field, condensing into a layer of crystalline ice with a faint blue-white hue on the surface of the pillars and floor tiles.

Everything before them vanished in an instant. The intruder, who was about to rush toward the items placed in the display case, seemed to have been caught off guard by this unexpected turn of events. One of them suddenly turned fierce, stopped in his tracks, turned around, and threw a handful of crimson pebbles.

That's a fire elemental stone.

Under the influence of randomly injected magic, it shone with dazzling brilliance in mid-air, and a bright, dazzling flash shone through its cracked shell.

The surrounding magic energy rapidly concentrated towards the cracked elemental stone, clearly a sign that an explosion was imminent.

If they were allowed to fall into the chaotic crowd, even if no one died, a large number of people would be injured or maimed.

I instinctively reached out towards the nearest few, trying to control the surrounding magic and slow down its accumulation. At the same time, I built a simple defensive barrier around them, enveloping and isolating them within the spell to delay the potential explosive impact of the weakening magic.

But this is just a drop in the ocean.

Faced with the violently turbulent flow of magic, my efforts were like thin sheets of paper, easily torn apart. The barrier I had painstakingly built only lasted a moment before turning into crystalline fragments. However, instead of being shattered and dissolved as usual, they were absorbed by the rapidly brightening elemental stones, which further accelerated the eruption.

There's no need to worry.

The man floating in mid-air cast his gaze in this direction. The deep blue color converged into two concentric circles of similar size on his outstretched right wrist, and then formed four slender rhombuses like compasses at equal positions, floating with an icy cold light: "Leave these to me."

As he finished speaking, his right hand suddenly flipped and tightened, and solid ice instantly grew in mid-air, not only perfectly enveloping each of the elemental stones that were about to explode, but also quickly climbing and spreading upwards to the ground, freezing the legs and feet of the four people.

This should be the Demon Tower Master from the Frost Tower in the far north that Adrian mentioned earlier.

The intruder instantly summoned flames to clear away the ice beneath its feet, preparing to accelerate forward once more.

Before they could recover from their ordeal, as the host was once again approaching the counter where valuables were being transferred in an orderly fashion, a series of wind blades suddenly attacked from another corner, forcing them to distract themselves and defend themselves once more.

That's my father.

Hugh's eyes lit up suddenly, showing a hint of eagerness, but he remained patient and did not make any sudden moves.

"We just need to make sure they don't hurt the crowd, and that they don't manage to escape."

Suppressing her trembling, Grey calmly opened her fan, surveyed the chaotic scene, and looked for possible escape routes that the enemy might use.

This was, after all, property under her family's name, so she knew perfectly well which way was more convenient to leave.

The tense situation continues.

The intruders' target was clearly the rare materials that were about to be moved.

Even when besieged by a large group led by the Demon Tower Master, and with the addition of a few guards already stationed in the hall, the intruders were still able to put up a strong fight and even managed to retaliate several times, nearly injuring those who had not yet evacuated, making the scene look quite strange for a moment.
