Something is clearly wrong here.
I glanced up at the ceiling again, frowned, and pondered for a few seconds before finally realizing that no one else seemed to have noticed the other's presence. I couldn't help but ask, "What about the one up there?"
"What else is up there... Ah!"
Staring blankly upwards, the group of people, suddenly awakened, exclaimed in unison. Adrian, who was standing next to me, also looked at me with surprise, as if he had just noticed, and his face showed a bit of shock: "There's actually another person... Is this an illusion that conceals one's own presence?"
Adrian, as expected of a professor at the academy, quickly adjusted his mindset and displayed a mature demeanor. Leaning on his cane inlaid with pure crystal and silver decorations, he stepped forward with a confident expression: "Since it's an illusion, then this is my domain. Since he wants to conceal his presence, all I need to do is reveal it again."
The cane fell abruptly, as if piercing an invisible vessel. An invisible wave of energy spread rapidly outwards from Adrian, passing over the surfaces of everything around him.
There were no dazzling light and shadow effects, nor was there any magic circle unfolding. Only a few tiny stardust shimmered and drifted down, forming a dazzling array of twinkling stars. You could only reach out and pass straight through it, unable to touch it. Yet, it was as if a different color was coated on the surface of everything, making it easy to see through the illusion.
The creature hidden by the broken window was highlighted, which immediately alerted the mages present. They then shifted their main focus of fire, all looking determined to shoot it down.
"hateful!"
This was the first time anyone in the group had cursed since the intruders appeared, but they didn't hesitate to react. A huge fireball was summoned from their hand, rapidly absorbing the magic power that had been poured in, and they hurled it downwards with force just before the ice shards and blades of wind were about to hit them.
The intense collision between the spells triggered a violent surge of magical energy, and the dazzling light instantly captivated most of those present. More debris splattered against the open barrier, spreading and colliding, creating a deafening roar like rain, mixed with flashing defensive light effects, triggering a series of panicked screams.
As the light faded, the panicked guests finally recovered from their blindness and terror thanks to the comfort and calls of those nearby. The intruders who had been causing trouble in the hall had vanished without a trace, and even the Frost Tower Master who had stepped forward to stop them had disappeared as well.
"Guards! Injured guest confirmed! Call for emergency medical assistance! Were the auction items successfully transferred?"
Ignoring the thick ice still covering the ground, the little princess, who almost slipped and fell, thanked them for their help, carefully examined the ground, and confirmed that it was not suitable for walking. After a moment's thought, she simply took off her high heels, tore off her skirt to cover her feet, and quickly ran towards the stage.
As the main location where the battle broke out, the stage is currently the most severely damaged area.
Upon noticing who the visitors were, the guards quickly relayed her orders and carried them out, methodically escorting the frightened people to separate rest rooms. Others began cleaning up the chaotic scene while keeping an eye out for any clues that might have been left behind by the intruders.
Sue and Mira followed closely behind Grey, helping her clean up the messy scene, while Hugh rushed off to take care of his father—who seemed to have suffered a minor injury in the earlier fight, coughing up a little blood, but judging from his still rosy complexion, there shouldn't be any major problems.
"It's really a mess."
I shook my head and silently chanted the incantation, causing the spreading ring of fire to slowly dry away the frost around the tables and chairs without touching them.
Adrian's whereabouts have not been confirmed.
The moment my vision returned from the flash, I looked towards where he might have been standing, following my previous memories, but saw no one. My senses returned a sudden blank signal, as if the presence I had been locking onto had been instantly erased from my sight by some invisible force, its very existence wiped away, leaving only a single character representing that he might have been there in my mind.
However, this is impossible.
Reality is not like a character accidentally written incorrectly during transcription, which can be arbitrarily erased or modified.
Curious about the other party's methods, and after confirming that no one else was around, I lowered my voice and called out to someone who had been hiding nearby: "[Aisha], have you noticed where Professor Adrian went?"
The remnant soul possessing the paintbrush responded to the call, but did not appear directly. Instead, it quietly approached and breathed a cool breeze into the ear: "I did not see where the professor you mentioned went."
She began by saying this, then paused, and before I could express my disappointment, she whispered again, "But I can tell you that both Adrian, who appeared before you later, and the people who jumped into the auction and caused trouble just now, were illusions created by magic."
This sudden revelation took me by surprise.
"So, you mean everyone was just fighting over a few illusions created by magic?"
I immediately wanted to refute this conclusion.
As is well known, anything constructed by illusion, no matter how closely it resembles the real thing, is nothing but a false, easily punctured fake, let alone able to withstand such a fierce magical impact, or even be cast like a real mage.
“However, there is also [Simulated Illusion].” The artist reminded, “If a mage has mastered illusion magic to an extremely high level, and then combines it with the [Simulated Illusion] technique which can already create incredibly realistic illusions, the two complement each other and might actually be able to achieve this.”
