Chapter 107 Visit

When I got home and was about to change my clothes, I realized that his cashmere scarf was still around my neck. I stood in front of the mirror for a long time, feeling hesitant and uneasy.

She deftly removed the scarf from her neck, wrapping it around herself. A chill ran through her, penetrating her skin. A red mark appeared on her slender, fair neck, likely from Huang Tao's knife wound the previous night. Fortunately, the wound was shallow, causing only slight discomfort and no excruciating pain. She grabbed the first-aid kit and treated the wound, then glanced at the unwearable down jacket and sighed helplessly.

After rummaging through the closet for a while, she finally found the red plaid coat she hadn't worn in ages. She added a sweater underneath and a crimson-gold belt around the waist. Although it was still cold, she looked quite presentable. The coat had a round neck, leaving her neck bare. Then she looked at the black cashmere scarf, which surprisingly matched the outfit perfectly. Most importantly, it was incredibly warm; the warmth was still there. She ran her hand over a care label and glanced at it. It was a high-end brand. She recognized the brand; in her past life, she had worked selling high-end clothing in a department store and had come into contact with many brands. This cashmere scarf must cost several thousand yuan. But regardless, it was meant to keep her warm, and it was a waste to leave it lying around. So she put it back on without a second thought, deciding to return it to him sometime.

After a quick wash at home, I looked around but found no one. The old man had probably gone to work, so I got back on the bus and headed to Jinling First Hospital as my first stop.

On the way back, Lin Moxiao glanced at the book she had brought yesterday on the passenger seat, her expression complicated. She kept thinking back to what Huang Minghao had said that morning. Perhaps he didn't know her well enough. She kept mentioning how much her husband loved her, how confident she was in winning him over, how she was so frivolous and pretentious, and how she had done those things before. How could she love her husband so humbly? What kind of man had caught her eye? For a moment, Lin Moxiao began to envy Huang Minghao, yet she also felt a strange jealousy towards him.

Upon arriving at Jinling Hospital, we found Sun Qi's ward in the orthopedic ward. Inside, we saw Sun Qi with her wrist in a sling, sitting there eating porridge with her other hand.

"Sit still, I'll feed you." Jiang Shuya placed the potstickers she had brought on the bedside table.

When Sun Qi saw her coming, a smile unconsciously appeared in his eyes. "Sister-in-law, I want to lean against something. Could you help me raise the bed a bit?"

Jiang Shuya rocked the bed up a little, and only stopped when he nodded: "Sun Qi, let me go buy you a pair of glasses! How nearsighted are you?"

Sun Qi's eyes were unfocused. He only realized it was Jiang Shuya when she got closer. As someone who wore glasses for a long time, he felt very uncomfortable without them, but he still shyly declined: "No, it's okay, sister-in-law. I'll just get my lenses changed after I'm discharged from the hospital."

Jiang Shuya said earnestly, "Give me that frame, I'll get you a new one. You still have the lenses, right? The optician should be able to measure the lens prescription, bring them to me."

Sun Qi hesitated for a moment, thought about it, and then told Jiang Shuya that the lens was in that cabinet drawer.

Jiang Shuya opened the drawer. One of the lenses of her glasses was completely broken. The other one was still there, but it was cracked. She wrapped it in a tissue and put it in her bag. Seeing that Sun Qi had finished her porridge, she went over and said, "I brought some potstickers. I'll heat them up in the mini boiler for you. Wait a moment."

Sun Qi didn't respond, but hesitated and said, "Sister-in-law, I don't want Grandpa and Grandma to know that I'm in the hospital. Could you please tell them that I'm away on a business trip? The doctor just came to check on me. I only have superficial injuries, but some fractures in my leg and wrist. I'll have a full check-up today, and I can be discharged before the New Year. Although all the expenses here are reimbursed by the police, I still don't want them to worry."

Jiang Shuya blinked and smiled, "Okay, just focus on getting better. If it's difficult for Yi Yun to get leave, I'll call Chen Lin for you."

At this point, Jiang Shuya noticed that Sun Qi's lips twitched, and he looked somewhat troubled: "What's wrong? Can't you get leave?"

Sun Qi shook his head, his eyes slightly furrowed, and said calmly, "I've already asked for leave, so you don't need to call President Chen, sister-in-law."

Seeing that he had made the arrangements, Jiang Shuya took the potstickers to heat them up for him.

Upon arriving at "Lida Shopping Mall," she habitually opened her phone, only to be met with a dense string of product numbers from Jiang Shuting, which made her scalp tingle. There were many orders before the New Year, and some customers had just placed their orders today, eager to wear their new clothes the next day, constantly bombarding her with sweet words and urging her to ship the goods quickly... ship them.

Perhaps because she hadn't slept all night, she was feeling listless and vaguely found an eyeglasses store on the first floor of the mall. Just as she was about to turn in, someone called out to her from behind.

Turning around, she saw Wang Tingting standing there, looking at her with a serious expression, seemingly in a bad mood.

Wang Tingting became angry: "Now that you're rich, you won't even answer when I call you twice."

Jiang Shuya's lips curved into a smile, and she said apologetically, "I stayed up all night yesterday and didn't sleep, so I'm not in good spirits. How could I ignore you, my big boss? You're my benefactor. I can't mistreat you, no matter who else I am!"

To her surprise, Wang Tingting glanced at her and ignored her wiping.

Jiang Shuya then tugged at her and said, "I'll treat you to lunch! You can order whatever you want. I'm going to the store to get some glasses now, do you want to come along?"

Wang Tingting was pulled into the eyeglasses store by her. She took out the broken glasses and showed them to the sales assistant at the counter. The sales assistant asked her to sit down and wait a moment because the item needed to be tested on the instrument stand before it could be customized according to the frame.

The two found a place to sit down. Jiang Shuya noticed that Wang Tingting was in a bad mood and asked with concern, "Has something happened to you lately?"

Wang Tingting shook her head, her expression complicated and utterly despondent. She stared out the floor-to-ceiling window, her mood gloomy, and remained silent.

Jiang Shuya said calmly, "Can't you tell me? Judging from your expression, is there something you can't solve? Tell me about it."

Wang Tingting sighed and pursed her lips: "The New Year is coming soon, and my family is going to arrange blind dates for me again. A few days ago, my mother called me and said that the owner of Yan's Hotel in town has taken a liking to me. If I am willing to make some demands, he even promised to help my younger brother open a branch in another city and start a business with him. My brother is with him all the time now, but I don't like him. He pursued me before, but I rejected him."

Jiang Shuya asked, puzzled, "Since it's to help your brother, it wouldn't be difficult for you to find him a job here. Why do you insist on working with that boss?"
