Chapter 139 Farewell

As darkness fell, Wang Yingying quickly packed some luggage, sat upright on the bed, and remained there for a long time. Seeing no movement from outside, she thought for a while, then decided to say goodbye to Lin Moxiao and gently knocked on the door.

"Brother Xiao, don't be angry. I sincerely apologize to you. Please don't be angry with me. If you let me leave, I will leave and I will never bother you again."

After standing there for a while without any movement inside, just as she was about to turn her head, the door suddenly opened, and Lin Moxiao, with her scholarly air, walked out.

He spotted Wang Yingying in a white down jacket at a glance. He suddenly remembered that it was the down jacket he had bought for Jiang Shuya. She had only tried it on once as a formality and hadn't taken it with her; it had been hanging in the closet ever since.

He personally drove to the shopping mall in downtown Jinling to buy this dress that day, thinking she would accept it. But to his surprise, she didn't appreciate it at all. He had put in a lot of effort, and later, whenever he tried to give her a gift, she would still refuse it.

Wang Yingying noticed him staring at her clothes, her expression changed slightly, and she whispered:

"Brother Xiao, I thought this dress in the dressing room would match my skirt, so I put it on. I never wear down jackets in winter, but this one is so warm that I didn't take it off. If you think it's inappropriate, I'll change it now."

"No need, I've already worn them, and nobody wants them anyway."

Lin Moxiao spoke these words in anger, but a pang of bitterness welled up inside him. He no longer cared so much about being rejected. He looked up at the window:

"It's too late, go back tomorrow morning! Pack all your things, don't leave anything behind. If I find out, I won't be as lenient as last time."

Although his words were cold, he couldn't bear it in the end; his heart softened. Kind people are always willing to think of others.

Wang Yingying felt a sudden warmth in her heart. She looked at him in disbelief. It turned out that her Xiao-gege hadn't changed and still cared about her. She nodded hurriedly.

"Brother Xiao, when I go back to my hometown tomorrow and see my parents, I will definitely tell them that you are the best man I have ever met."

Lin Moxiao was taken aback by these words, not understanding why:

"Why did you tell your parents about me? I'm not a good person at all. Don't drag me into your family reunion."

"You are such a good person. My parents have a very good relationship. They will definitely cook lots of delicious food for me tomorrow. I think my mother is the happiest person in the world."

She never worked a day in her life. Her father spoiled her, supported her, and let her manage the family finances. She doesn't recall them ever arguing.

Seeing that he didn't seem so angry, Wang Yingying became more and more excited as she talked.

Lin Moxiao looked at her with envy:

"Then you must be the happiest family. You are very lucky to be born into such a family."

In Lin Moxiao's memory, the number of times the family of three had been together since she was a child could be counted on one hand.

As he grew up, he almost never saw his father again. Even if Lin Wei were standing next to him now, he might not recognize him. But the hatred in his heart was too deep to forget.

"Of course, my father has always told me that I must be optimistic and positive in life and never be decadent. It's just that I have failed to live up to his teachings."

Wang Yingying finished speaking with tears welling up in her eyes.

Yes, Wang Yingying was spoiled by her parents from childhood. Although her family was not wealthy, they had everything she wanted.

She always seemed to have a way to get what she wanted, determined to achieve it. However, after entering adulthood and the workforce, she discovered its harsh realities. Having never experienced hardship, she changed jobs repeatedly, realizing that she simply couldn't satisfy her desires on her own.

One night during a company dinner, she heard that nightclub hostesses earned a lot of money, which caught her attention. She learned that as long as they drank with customers, greeted them with a smile, and acted coquettishly, they could earn a considerable amount of money.

Later, through Li He's introduction, she easily became deeply involved. In one night, her income was equivalent to a month's salary. With an excellent alcohol tolerance, she quickly became intoxicated and unable to extricate herself.

"Rest now! Go home and reunite with your parents tomorrow," Lin Moxiao urged.

"Brother Xiao, aren't you going home for the Chinese New Year? I've never heard of your parents before."

Wang Yingying really wanted to know the reason.

Although she had spent several months with the man in front of her, she had never heard him mention his family, which made Wang Yingying very curious.

Lin Moxiao's heart surged with emotion upon hearing this, but her face hardened, and she simply said, "I don't want to go back."

Now he has no home left. His former home is now riddled with holes. His father has fled, his mother has passed away, and there is no longer any warmth or life in it.

"Brother Xiao, would you like to consider my family? My parents would definitely welcome you," Wang Yingying tentatively invited.

Lin Moxiao offered a simple reason for declining: "Thank you, but I don't have a vacation."

After she finished speaking, the door closed tightly, giving her no chance to retaliate. Fortunately, Lin Moxiao's attitude was getting better and better, which made Wang Yingying very happy.

Sitting in the study, Lin Moxiao silently recalled his mother and his father, whom he hated with a passion.

Six years have passed since my mother left. I wonder if my father, somewhere in this world, feels even a trace of regret or longing.

Huang Minghao, who returned home very late after drinking, staggered back home with heavy steps. He finally made it upstairs and naturally went to his bedroom. He tried to open the door, but found that he couldn't open it no matter what he did.

He was panting heavily, banging on the door in a fit of rage, kicking it twice, and shouting a couple of times, but no one answered. His face turned red, and he felt nauseous. He clutched his chest and rushed to the bathroom, where he began to vomit.

Perhaps he had drunk too much; his stomach was churning, and he vomited repeatedly, collapsing weakly to the ground, muttering curses under his breath.

"Jiang Shuya, you're a woman who can't be elegant in public or cook in the kitchen. You're not virtuous at all. What use are you to me?"

Jiang Shuya, who was lying in the master bedroom, had already fallen into a deep sleep and did not hear Huang Minghao shouting outside.

In the dead of night, perhaps awakened by the cold, Huang Minghao dragged himself into the second bedroom and found that the bed had already been made, the bookshelf had been moved, and a new shelf had been installed, covered with clothes. Upon closer inspection, he realized that they were all his own.

Huang Minghao felt a surge of anger, and his head began to throb with pain. He hurriedly threw off the covers and crawled inside. The bedding had a faint, pleasant fragrance that reminded him of Jiang Shuya.

He couldn't help but laugh, his heart tightening. Suddenly, he really wanted to hold her and sleep with her. Her soft, fragrant body was so alluring and irresistible. Thinking about it carefully, he realized how long it had been since he had shared a bed with her. He tried to count on his fingers in his mind. Oh! It seemed like a very, very long time.
