Chapter 60 Piercing the Heart

Having not slept a wink all night, Lin Moxiao returned to his apartment in Yushan and soon fell asleep. When he woke up, he heard the clattering of pots and pans in the kitchen, along with the sounds of frying and cooking. The aroma of food wafted into his nostrils. Rubbing his eyes, he noticed that the bedroom door had been opened at some point. His alertness suddenly increased. He lifted the thin blanket, stepped out of the bedroom, and went to the living room. There were several dishes on the dining table, and he could still hear the sound of stir-frying in the kitchen. He glanced at his wristwatch; it was almost 5 p.m. His brows furrowed. He had actually slept for so long.

A moment later, Wang Yingying came over with a bowl of bright red soup. After setting the bowl down, she took a deep breath, shook her fingers as if she had burned them. One of her middle fingers was tightly wrapped with a band-aid, and she waited with an annoyed look for Lin Moxiao to come and comfort her.

He glanced at the dishes on the table: "Did you make these?"

"Who else could it be but me? I was worried you wouldn't eat on time while resting, so I went to the market early this morning to buy the freshest vegetables and crabs to cook for you. I've never cooked crabs before, and I got my hand pinched while washing them." Wang Yingying looked at him with a wronged expression.

Lin Moxiao stepped forward and hugged her, saying, "Don't do it again next time. I won't go hungry. Take good care of yourself and don't hurt yourself. I don't deserve your kindness. I can't make any promises to you."

Seeing how considerate he was of her, she smiled, looked up at him with a gaze full of apology and tenderness: "Brother Xiao, I know I shouldn't have doubted you. Don't be angry. From the very beginning when we got together, you told me you wouldn't get married. It's okay, I'm willing to wait. As long as I can be with you, I'm willing to stay home and wait for you to come back, do your laundry, cook for you, and go to concerts with you. Even when you're flying in the sky, I'll silently pray for you, wishing you peace and well-being."

She wrapped her arms around his waist, nestled in his embrace, and murmured, "Let me move in! I want to take care of you, wait for you at home, make your bed, iron your clothes, and keep the house clean."

He gently pulled her hands away: "Aren't you hungry? I'm hungry."

Seeing that he didn't answer her question directly, she patiently served him a bowl of rice. Seeing him eat with relish, she sat opposite him and asked with interest, "How is it? My cooking skills are pretty good, right? My dad says I have a real talent for cooking. Try this braised fish. I'll also serve you a bowl of borscht. I know it's your favorite, so I bought fresh beef early this morning and let it sit for several hours."

After saying that, he went into the kitchen and brought back a bowl.

“Let me do it, you should eat some too,” he said, getting up and going to the kitchen to serve her a bowl as well, then bringing it to her.

Seeing his politeness, she felt uneasy, and nervous thoughts slowly accumulated. She lowered her head and pondered for a moment, the rice in her bowl tasted like wax, difficult to swallow. She couldn't help but wonder what kind of woman could make him so devoted. Jiang Shuya from yesterday was already married and had a child. Although they were classmates, time had passed, and the youthful days had long faded, making it clearly impossible. And Jiang Shuya's cousin next to her was a classmate, which was even more impossible. After observing him, she noticed that he had never given her a second glance. If they were classmates, and there was any relationship between them, it would have happened long ago.

After finishing a bowl of rice and drinking a few sips of soup, he noticed her dazed expression and frowned slightly. He said in a low voice, "I'm sorry, I don't like living with others for long periods of time. I'm used to being alone. I'll try my best to make up for your kindness, but I don't like being disturbed so often. Please consider my suggestion from yesterday. You're a good girl, and I don't want to hold you back or bully you."

As expected, he deliberately avoided her and was so polite, seemingly expressing apology, but it was hurtful in every way. She didn't have the shrewdness to withstand his barrage of attacks.

She stood up abruptly: with a crisp "crack," the bowl on the table in front of her was overturned and fell to the ground, the white porcelain bowl and rice scattering all over the floor. She was filled with shame and anger, her chest heaving violently, her eyes filled with tears, and she said in a trembling voice, "Why did you do this to me? Why? Why can't I enter your heart? Or did you despise me from the beginning, just playing around and easily throwing me away?"

"To be honest, none of my girlfriends have ever lived with me long-term. I have no intention of getting married, so I won't make any promises lightly. You're the one trying to break the mold and asking for too much. I'm really sorry, I can't give you that." Lin Moxiao's eyes grew even colder.

"How many women have you been with? I'm not the last one, am I? Or have you found a new prey that's making you so impatient to get rid of me?" Wang Yingying's eyes were filled with tears, which streamed down her face, showing her sadness and grief.

Lin Moxiao reached out and wiped away the tears from the corners of her eyes, and said gently, "I have never criticized you for anything. You deserve someone better to treat you well and be with you for a lifetime. That person is not me. You don't need to waste your life on me."

Wang Yingying pushed his hand away. Every heartache was proof of tears, and every sadness was filled with helplessness. She glanced at him dejectedly and said with resentment, "How are you going to make it up to me for these past few months with you?"

"Take whatever you want from the house. Anything you like, including the things I bought for you before, are all yours for the taking," Lin Moxiao said solemnly.

"Okay, I want your car, can I have it too?"

“Okay, you wait here,” he said, walking into the bedroom and taking out a set of keys, which he then handed to her.

She froze for a moment, her chest heaving, her brow furrowing slightly. She chuckled twice, then turned and left without taking the car keys from his hand, her face ashen. Her dejected voice slammed shut with the sound of the door closing, followed by a loud crash. A moment later, the entire space fell into a deathly silence.

In Xixia Village, the public opinion surrounding the Wang family gradually subsided, and the family eventually closed their doors to discuss and resolve the issue amongst themselves.

Since uploading the pictures, the website has seen a lot of attention, but most people are just observing and no one has placed an order, which is making her a little anxious. That evening, Jiang Shuya went to Software Avenue again. She stood outside and knocked on the door for a long time, but no one answered. After making a phone call, she finally saw Shuting open the door in her pajamas. When she went in, she found Chen Lin there too, also in pajamas. Jiang Shuya instantly realized that the two of them were living together. Her appearance at this time was indeed inappropriate, but thinking about the purpose of her visit, she thought, "Oh well, I'll just have to bother them." She had been through similar experiences and it wasn't unacceptable. She would pretend she knew nothing about their behavior and try to come here less often after resolving her own issues.

Thinking this, he casually greeted Chen Lin and went into the bedroom to sit down at the desk. He glanced at the bed sheets, which were somewhat messy.
