Chapter 160 New Home

Her idea was to build her wall into the most solid little city wall. This place was close to the mountains and there were few people around. Li Ke was also tired from walking, so she felt that this was a good place to settle down and escape the summer heat.

Li Ke didn't collect bricks and tiles nearby. Instead, she rode her bicycle to the dead-end intersection, then rowed a boat to the other side of the road to find materials in the town. She set off at night, rested in the town for a while, and stored everything she needed into her spatial storage under the cover of darkness. When dawn broke, she left the town and continued her journey.

Li Ke plans to stay away for a few more days, pack as much as he needs, and then not go out for walks unless necessary.

The sky had gradually brightened over the past few days. After leaving the town and traveling another ten miles, another large town came into view in the distance. Li Ke sped up his motorcycle and stopped when he was almost at the town. He found a spot, took out his binoculars, and observed the situation below.

There were fireworks, and although there seemed to be very few people around, there were still some people present. In that case, it wouldn't be convenient for Li Ke to use bulldozers or similar equipment to demolish the house.

Li Ke turned the camera around, intending to change direction and look at other places, but the first thing that ran into her lens was a tall, thin man with long hair, a beard, wearing a shirt and floral cotton pants.

The man was running upwards with all his might. He was panting heavily, but he didn't dare to stop for a moment. Li Ke could clearly see the sweat and dirt on his face. The man was quite dirty and looked like he had crawled out of the ground.

Li Ke zoomed out and, sure enough, saw three people chasing him. The three men were holding hunting rifles, which occasionally fired a shot to taunt the man running ahead, as if they knew he couldn't escape.

The group was approaching Li Ke. Li Ke put away her motorcycle and took out a gun, but she didn't make a move. She just slowly walked down the road, occasionally glancing at where the man had run off to.

The man was weak; it was clear he had used up all his strength. His eyes were red and almost filled with tears, but he still collapsed to the ground, exhausted. He tried to stand up but failed. He weakly pounded the ground in anger, which was quite pitiful to see.

The three men behind her ran past laughing. Li Ke gradually approached the four of them, wearing a tree-gray overall bodysuit that was easy to hide in, and took temporary shelter next to a dead tree.

It wasn't that she wanted to meddle, but since this place wasn't too far from her new home, Li Ke felt it was necessary to find out who her neighbors were. If they weren't friendly, it would be best to deal with them as soon as possible.

The three finally reached the man's side. One of them kicked the man on the ground with a laugh: "Why did you stop running? Have you been serving our big brother for too long? Are your legs getting weak?"

Another man, holding a gun, spat on the ground and said, "You really don't know what's good for you. Our boss values you, feeds you, gives you water, and doesn't let others bully you. Why do you have to be so shameless and run around instead of having a good life?"

The last person laughed lewdly: "Maybe it's because our boss is too capable, and this kid can't handle it."

The man on the ground suddenly cried out in a hoarse voice, "Kill me! Give me a quick death!"

The man who spoke first handed his hunting rifle to his spitting companion: "I'll give you a quick death, but first you have to let me have some fun!"

Another man saw the man on the ground crawling and trying to run away, so he rushed over, pulled out the man's belt, and tied the man's hands behind his back.

The man had little strength left, and could only roar in a hoarse voice, "You beasts! You'll all die a horrible death!"

Li Ke watched this scene from the side, her eyes fixed on the man whose eyes were red and showing signs of crying. The more she looked at him, the more familiar he seemed. It seemed that he was an acquaintance.
