The man holding the gun frowned and said, "If you really go after him, the boss will probably be angry if he finds out."
The man had already loosened his belt and was sitting on top of the bound man, forcefully pulling down his thin cotton pants: "I'm done. I'll just slap him. The boss won't know. Besides, he wanted to escape. He asked for it. You can't blame me. I know you don't like this kind of thing. Just turn your head away and go. I'm quick."
As they spoke, the man's cotton trousers were ripped off. He pounded his head on the ground in agony, using his last strength to twist his body and scream, "Bastards, you'll all die a horrible death! If you have the guts, kill me now! You're all not human, you're animals reincarnated!"
Li Ke's gaze was drawn to the white expanse, but he immediately and politely looked away. The guy's face was so dirty that he was almost unrecognizable, but his buttocks looked quite white.
The man who helped tie him up watched the show with amusement: "Bro, he's yelling too loudly. Do you want me to gag him?"
The man was still trying to subdue the restless man, a fierce smile on his face: "No need, I like to hear him scream like that. The louder and more pitiful his screams are, the more excited I get!"
After saying that, he raised his fist and punched the other man in the temple, wanting to teach the disobedient man under him a lesson. The man's resistance prevented him from succeeding, and he felt that he had lost face in front of his brother.
Having observed the situation sufficiently, Li Ke emerged from behind the tree, wielding two silenced pistols, and fired three shots in quick succession, silently eliminating the three unprepared men.
All three shots were aimed directly at the center of the three men's heads. Li Ke glanced at them and noticed that one of the shots was slightly off-center. At such close range, it was off-center. Li Ke realized he needed to practice more.
The man on the ground saw the person next to him fall with a gunshot wound between his eyebrows. He was so frightened that he lay face down on the ground, too afraid to move. Li Ke quickly cut the rope binding him with a knife and kicked his leg: "Aren't you going to put your pants on?"
The man was devastated, thinking he could no longer escape this time. But the next second, the three scumbags were shot between the eyebrows and died right in front of him. The man was startled, wondering if someone even more powerful from the base had caught up with him. He was too frightened to move.
Feeling his bonds being removed, he heard a strange male voice telling him to put his pants on. The voice didn't have much ferocity or hostility, so the man obediently reached out to pull up his pants. However, because he had been too excited, his hands were a little weak, and he had to try several times before he could finally pull them up. Then he turned over and sat up.
The man who saved him was wearing high-top work boots, a charcoal gray work uniform, and a gas mask. His outfit was very neat and tidy. If he had met such a person before the disaster, he would have thought he was a cosplay enthusiast.
But Song Xian knew this person was truly formidable; not only was he fully equipped, but his marksmanship was also incredibly accurate—he was clearly a master.
Li Ke ignored what Song Xian was thinking and turned to walk uphill. Song Xian hurriedly pulled up his pants to chase after her, but his belt had broken into several pieces and was unusable.
After chasing for only a couple of steps, Song Xian realized it was too inconvenient, so he gritted his teeth, turned around, and pulled a belt off a corpse to use. Then he ran uphill to chase after the person.
Li Ke had already returned with the tiger claws and shovels from the two wounds. When Song Xian couldn't see his savior, he thought that the man had abandoned him. Seeing him return, he couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief.
Song Xian, panting heavily, went to meet him and said with great tact, "Is my benefactor going to dig a pit? Give it to me, I'll dig it."
Without saying a word, Li Ke tossed the tools to him, and Song Xian almost couldn't hold them back. Li Ke instructed, "Go into the woods, dig a hole near the tree roots, and bury those three people. Just dig one hole."
Song Xian followed behind, carrying his tools, nodding repeatedly: "Yes, yes, I will definitely dig a big hole."
Li Ke found a smooth, large rock to sit on, lifted his mask, took out food and drinks from his backpack, and rested. Song Xian was diligently digging a hole in the withered forest nearby.
After Li Ke finished eating and drinking, he turned around and saw Song Xian leaning on the handle of a shovel, panting and staring blankly in his direction. When he noticed Li Ke looking at him, he quickly got back to work, just like a farmhand being exploited by a landlord.
Li Ke looked at the ground and saw that a patch of soil had been dug up. Anyone who didn't know better would think he was tilling the soil to plant vegetables.
Feeling Li Ke's gaze on his hard-earned goods, Song Xian's stomach growled. He said somewhat embarrassedly, "These days I've only had a bowl of thin porridge every day, and occasionally I can get a pancake. I've been running around for half a day now, and I really have no energy left."
Li Ke gave him a bag of food and a bottle of purified water. Purified water is relatively scarce now, so even if Li Ke had a lot, she wouldn't openly give it away as a gift.
When Song Xian saw Li Ke give him food, he was overjoyed and quickly ran over to take it. He had been hungry for so long that he had no room for restraint.
While eating, Song Xian expressed his gratitude, saying, "My benefactor, you are like my second parents. If I hadn't met you, I really wouldn't be able to survive today..."
As he spoke, his emotions got the better of him, and Song Xian, a grown man, shed tears again. He wiped his tears away, embarrassed, and said, "I don't know what your name is, benefactor? How should I address you? My name is Song Xian, Song as in 'roof of the roof,' Xian as in 'constitution of the constitution.' You can just call me Xiao Song."
Looking at Song Xian, whose hair was greasy and whose beard was unshaven, Li Ke saw a world of difference from the carefree boy she had met before the apocalypse. Moreover, he had become extremely thin. If Li Ke hadn't remembered him so well, she might not have recognized him at all.
