After that, Li Ke hardly had to lift a finger. The prisoners in District 1, like tigers unleashed from the mountains, quickly took over District 1 with their weapons, and then split into three teams to rescue people from other camps.
When Li Ke passed through the Fifth District, the situation was quite chaotic because many people who had been arrested had just been released and some bandits were resisting and robbing. Li Ke seized the opportunity to run into the crowd and quickly turned into a side path. By the time the bearded man caught up, Li Ke had already disappeared.
The bearded man stood still and looked around. He noticed some friction marks on the wall to his left. He took two steps, climbed over the wall, and jumped over. He found himself in an empty courtyard. However, the marks disappeared a meter before the courtyard gate.
He stood there, squinting as he looked closely for a while. The gate to the courtyard was wide open, and on one side of the gate was an empty water vat, large enough for him to shrink into.
But the water tank had no lid, was empty, and was covered in dust that had accumulated over time. Next to it was a small kitchen, which was completely empty.
The bearded man searched around, scratching his head and muttering to himself, "Strange, could this person have flown away...?"
With doubts in his mind, the bearded man, after confirming that he could not find any trace, left the courtyard and continued searching outside.
Li Ke waited in the space until it was already nine o'clock in the evening before leaving the space again. Then, he carefully took the shortest route and ran out of the town. With someone with the bushy beard and extraordinary eyesight around, Li Ke was unwilling to stay here any longer.
She placed the equipment she hadn't yet distributed in an empty room she passed by, and then put a timed horn inside. An hour later, the horn would emit a piercing blare, powered by a battery that would keep it running for an hour, enough to attract the townspeople and help them find it.
After successfully leaving the town, Li Ke climbed to a high place in one breath. Only after feeling that she was at a safe distance did she stop and take out her binoculars to observe the current situation in the town.
A bonfire burned in the middle of the town, and six people hung beside it—five men and one woman—with six tall figures guarding them.
The town was bustling with life tonight, and there were quite a few people out and about. Li Ke timed the moment and saw a crowd running toward where she had left her equipment, so she put away her binoculars and headed toward the main road up the mountain.
After collecting materials outside for another day and a half, Li Ke rode his motorcycle back home, with a large sack and a bicycle strapped to the back seat.
It was already dark when they arrived at the cave where Song Xian was. Li Ke sat in the car, untied the ropes binding him, and casually pushed the bicycle and sacks to the ground. The person in the sack fell to the ground and groaned in pain.
When Song Xian heard the motorcycle, he had already dragged himself out in his shackles. Li Ke threw him the key and told him to unlock it himself.
After Song Xian untied the restraints, Li Ke said to him, "Open that sack."
Song Xian could tell that there was a person inside the sack. There was some blood on the sack, and the person might still be injured. He looked at the body shape and the person inside did not look like Duan Lao Er. He hesitated and stepped forward, not daring to make a move.
Li Ke spoke again: "The prisoners in District 1 of the town have been rescued, and all those who were captured have been freed. You can ride your bike back to find your companions now, but before that, you have to kill the person in the sack. This is one of the rewards for my help this time."
Song Xian trusted Li Jia completely and had no doubts upon hearing his words. He hurriedly asked, "Brother Li, what about Duan Lao Er? Was he arrested or killed?"
Li Ke: "He hasn't come back yet. If you rush back now, you might be able to meet him. Do you agree to the reward I mentioned?"
Song Xian thought that Brother Li had risked his life to venture into the town occupied by bandits, so what was the point of asking him to kill someone now?
Moreover, he didn't quite believe that Li Jia would let him kill indiscriminately; this came from his intuition.
Sure enough, after untying the sack, Song Xian finally saw the person inside. It was Fat Tiger, the boss of District 10. The man was gagged, his hands and feet were tied, and his arms were covered in blood and gore. He looked miserable.
He looked at Song Xian with a disheveled yet fierce expression. Song Xian instantly recalled the evil deeds this man had committed in the past and immediately felt that this man truly deserved to die!
After glaring at Song Xian, Fatty Tiger turned and glared angrily at Li Ke. He had clearly said he would let him go, but this bastard had been toying with him all along. He hated him so much!
Ignoring Pang Hu's resentment, Li Ke said directly to Song Xian, "I said I wouldn't kill him, but this man cannot live. Now you take action."
Li Ke threw a bayonet at Song Xian's feet: "You can choose not to fight, but I will send you both on your way."
When Song Xian saw Li Jia's icy gaze, his heart trembled. He knew that what Brother Li Jia said was true. He bent down and picked up the bayonet. He did not mind killing Fatty Tiger.
During his time enslaved by bandits, he witnessed many cruel and inhumane acts. Compared to these, sending someone away quickly with a single blow was actually a form of mercy.
Under Fat Tiger's terrified and resistant gaze, Song Xian plunged the knife into his chest. As the knife was pulled out, warm blood splattered onto Song Xian's skin. Fat Tiger's pain was suppressed, and only a muffled groan escaped his lips.
"Now that we've already started, we can't give them any hope of survival. Continue." Li Ke's cold voice rang out again.
Song Xian didn't speak, but obediently swung his knife again to stab Pang Hu in his vital areas. Only after confirming that Pang Hu was completely lifeless did Song Xian stand up.
