Chapter 21 Skipping School

After returning to her room last night, Chen Zhizhi took a painkiller and applied an ice pack to her swollen left cheek. She hated Li Ke to death, but dared not make any move against him for the time being.

Thinking about Li Ke's changes, Chen Zhizhi couldn't help but feel uneasy. This girl was like a completely different person; her eyes were truly frightening.

Normally, no matter how powerful she is, if she dares to lay a hand on her, Chen Zhizhi would definitely let her family see Li Ke's true colors, then kick her out and find someone to kill her.

But now Li Ke has something on her. The Chen family is a family that favors sons over daughters. The fact that her aunt and family members value her is only because they want to benefit from her marriage. Anyway, given Chen Zhizhi's abilities, it is unlikely that the Chen family will produce another Chen Dagu.

When Chen Zhizhi was in school, she was quite mischievous for a while, which is why she left behind those embarrassing dark histories. Later, she tried to destroy those traces, but she never expected that Li Ke would suddenly appear.

Right now, her family is actively trying to find her a good match, and she herself wants to make a big leap in her life through marriage, so she can't afford to have any stain on her record.

Remembering the message Li Ke had given her, she changed her clothes after feeling a bit better and drove out that very night, heading straight for Kangxin Hospital, since she was feeling unwell anyway.

After Chen Jiaojiao got up in the morning and finished washing up, she ran to Li Ke's door and knocked. After a while, no one answered, so she turned the doorknob and the door opened smoothly.

Chen Jiaojiao went inside to take a look, but there was no one in the room. The quilt was neatly folded, and she didn't see Li Ke's schoolbag.

Chen Jiaojiao frowned, thinking of her previous plan, and hurriedly opened Li Ke's desk drawer, where the bottle of face cream she had given her was placed in the corner.

Chen Jiaojiao grabbed the face cream and ran back to her room. She found a new bottle, scooped out most of it, and seeing that it was no different from the one she had taken from Li Ke, she put it back.

When we went downstairs to eat, my grandparents, parents, and Chen Qi were all there, but my older brother and sister were nowhere to be seen. Since they started working, their schedules have often been out of sync with the rest of the family, and everyone has gotten used to it.

After greeting her elders, Chen Jiaojiao saw Aunt Chen coming out of the kitchen and quickly asked, "Aunt Chen, is my sister in the kitchen?"

Aunt Chen paused for a moment before saying, "No, I don't know when Ke left. When I went upstairs to look for her this morning, there was no one in the room. That girl has been a bit lazy these past two days. I saw that she didn't clean upstairs yesterday. I don't know what she's up to."

Aunt Chen's complaints reached everyone's ears, and everyone's expressions changed. Grandma Chen snorted, "I knew long ago that she was a troublemaker. Look at her, it hasn't been long and she already wants to be a prostitute. Doesn't she know who she is?"

Seeing his wife stop eating, Chen Niansheng smiled and said, "Kids will be kids, it's normal for them to slack off sometimes. Let's eat."

Chen Jiaojiao was puzzled by Li Ke's change and added, "Sister was scolded by her teacher yesterday, so she might be in a bad mood. She should calm down in a couple of days, so please don't be angry, Grandma."

Grandma Chen snorted, her face showing an expression of "I knew it": "I knew she was a troublesome little slut."

He then placed another egg pancake on Chen Qi's plate and put it into his soy milk bowl: "Qiqi, eat more."

Chen Qi disliked the food his grandmother served him. Grandpa and Grandma Chen used to be farmers in the countryside and never paid attention to any rules when eating.

Now that he's older, his personal hygiene is only good on the surface; he has an old man's smell and bad breath, and he even spits when he eats or talks. The older Chen Qi gets, the less he likes their unhygienic care.

"Grandma, don't put any more food on my plate, I'm full. Sis, hurry up." Chen Qi put down his chopsticks and stood up to urge Chen Jiaojiao. He and Chen Jiaojiao were twins, and the siblings had a very good relationship.

However, Chen Qi's brain is not as good as Chen Jiaojiao's. The two go to school together, and now Chen Jiaojiao is in her senior year of high school, just like Li Ke, while Chen Qi is repeating a grade and only went up to the first year of high school.

Tutors and cram schools were arranged, and the gap between the two siblings widened. Seeing that their grandson was suffering from studying, Chen's grandparents told their son and daughter-in-law not to push Chen Qi so hard anymore. They said that they were not short of money, so why force the child?

Because of her dance studies, Chen Jiaojiao has always been very conscious of her figure, so she eats very little. Hearing her younger brother's words, she put down her chopsticks and stood up, saying, "Grandpa, Grandma, Dad, Mom, let's finish eating and go to school first."

When she arrived at school, around noon, Chen Jiaojiao went to Li Ke's classroom to look for her, only to find out that Li Ke had not come to school again.

She sent Li Ke a message, but received no reply. She then called Li Ke, but no one answered either of the two calls.

After thinking for a moment, Chen Jiaojiao called her mother. Li Zhenzhen was eating at the time, and when she saw that it was her daughter calling, she immediately answered.

“Mom, my sister didn’t come to school this morning. Did she tell you? Her teacher said she didn’t ask for leave. The college entrance exam is coming up soon, and I’m really worried about her. I want to go to university with her,” Chen Jiaojiao said into the phone.

Li Zhenzhen remained silent for a while before saying on the phone, "You don't need to worry about her. Just focus on your studies and get into a good university. Li Ke is a slow learner and can't be helped. Let her do whatever she wants."

Chen Jiaojiao was also a little surprised to hear her mother's words. In the past, her mother would not be anxious, but she would get a little angry. But now, her mother was quite calm and seemed to mean that she did not want to pursue Li Ke any further.
